Chapter 409 - DSMW [409]

The colossal serpent god, its body vast enough to connect sky and earth, was bound tight by the Black Dragon's chains, unable to move.

The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned.

Takehiko shouted excitedly, "What an unexpected development! The power of infinite Attack has actually transferred into Kevin Seth's hands!"

The strongest Black Dragon flames in history erupted. The Meteor Black Dragon, its Attack rising to infinity, directly treated the massive "Divine Serpent Geh" bound by chains as an Equip Card.

"So this... is infinite Attack?"

Feeling the Black Dragon's overwhelming power—a force capable of surpassing even the gods—Kevin, touching the realm of infinity for the first time, resolved to uncover the truth behind Oga Slint's contradictions.

The darkness of Orichalcos coiled around Kevin, just like it had around Oga when he summoned the Divine Serpent.

Racing side by side, Oga said sternly, "This is not a power you can control, Kevin Seth!"

Kevin gritted his teeth. "Whether I can control it or not… we'll only know once we fight."

"If that's the case!"

Now used as Kevin's Equip Card, the Divine Serpent forced Oga to end his Battle Phase. He hurled a card down onto the track.

"I set one card, then change [True King Lithosagym, the Disaster] to Defense Position!"

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster DEF: 2300]

Since Kevin's Meteor Black Dragon's Attack had skyrocketed to infinity, Oga naturally couldn't leave his monsters in Attack Position.

After all, battle damage from infinite Attack was absolutely impossible to withstand.

"Lastly, I activate the Continuous Trap [True King's Return]. Once per turn, I Special Summon [Mariamne, the True Dracophoenix] from the Graveyard in Defense Position. Turn end."

[Mariamne, the True Dracophoenix DEF: 2100]

The three-attribute Wyrms once again gathered on Oga Slint's field.

But this time, he didn't attempt to Xyz Summon the pinnacle of the Wyrms—True King of All Calamities.

It seemed that a monster of that caliber, even for Oga with his True King Deck, was too difficult to bring out a second time.

"My turn—draw!"

[Kevin, SPC: 2 → 3]

[Oga, SPC: 2 → 3]

With positions switching on their D-Wheels, Kevin—riding atop the Black Dragon with infinite Attack—drew his next card to begin his turn.

At that instant, the overwhelming force capable of destroying a planet threatened to consume Kevin's mind.

Vaguely, Kevin seemed to see a dark serpent of Orichalcos outside the planet, coiling tightly around the world.

And beyond the planet—cards representing the various planets themselves.

"The Varian Empire's royal Planet Deck, huh? Looks like things are even more complicated than I thought."

For Oga Slint to wield the Divine Serpent's power, it was very likely the handiwork of the Varian Empire's royal family.

"You were being used, Oga Slint."

"I know."

"Hm?"

"I know I've always been a pawn to be used."

He needed no reminder from Kevin… Oga understood this better than anyone.

He had always been a piece on someone else's board. Used by his family, by his nation, by his academy.

"Regardless, winning this duel… that's the last meaning I have in life!"

"Life's meaning isn't something that stupid."

Kevin flung a Speed Spell card forward.

"—[Speed Spell - Angel Baton] activate! Draw 2, discard 1!"

Simple and clear—hard to believe this was Kevin's first Turbo Duel.

He scanned his hand. The Spell Card that could end the duel outright—[Inferno Fire Blast]—still wasn't in his hand. If he had drawn it, he could have instantly wiped out Oga's remaining Life Points.

"Guess this is the only way. Then let's fight, Meteor Black Dragon!"

Receiving Kevin's command, the Black Dragon of infinite Attack slowly raised its head and roared skyward.

"Let me feel it for myself—the power of infinity! Destroy [True King Lithosagym, the Disaster]!"

A violent vortex gathered, as if devouring all energy from the air, condensing everything into a single blast of infinite dragonfire.

"—'Starflame Roar'!"

The pitch-black nuclear blast erupted. The impact of the mushroom cloud engulfed the entire Turbo Duel arena, leaving everyone unable to open their eyes.

Irena pressed down on her witch's hat with all her strength. "Kevin—he actually unleashed an infinite Attack strike?!"

The power of infinity was simply too dangerous. Whether in one's own hands or the opponent's, such power could easily flip victory either way.

Aisha: "Mr. Miles, what happened?!"

Miles stared into the explosion's core. "Not good."

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster] destroyed.

Swallowed effortlessly by the infinite blast, the Wyrm of Earth vanished into the massive crater opened at the center of the field.

"Did you feel it clearly, Kevin Seth? The power of an infinite strike?"

With the explosion fading, the Orichalcos aura around Oga Slint disappeared entirely. He had blocked an infinite Attack head‑on using the Earth Wyrm.

Exactly like when he absorbed the Divine Serpent's power in his duel with Ren.

"How… how is that even possible?" Kevin stared in disbelief at the impossible number.

Oga Slint's remaining Life Points:

[Oga, LP: ∞]

Just last turn his Life Points were nearly empty. Despite that, after taking Kevin's infinite‑Attack blow, they had become truly infinite.

"Trap Card—[Enchanted Javelin]!"

[Activate when your opponent's monster declares an attack. Gain Life Points equal to that monster's Attack.]

"The moment you attacked was the moment my victory was decided."

Infinite Life Points, fully synchronized with the Divine Serpent's power. A green aura representing limitless vitality rippled from Oga Slint's body.

Unlike Aisha's state when using the Winged Dragon of Ra… this was another form of deification.

Oga Slint's absolute strategy: infinite Life Points. Just as Miles predicted—if Oga wished it, the will of the cosmos would allow it.

To defeat Oga Slint for real… Kevin would have to surpass infinity itself.

"Kevin..."

Miles regretted not insisting on handing the Key to the Obelisk Tower to Kevin.

The only consolation now was that, after the Black Dragon equipped the Divine Serpent's true form, its Attack had also become infinite.

As long as Kevin found a way to deal battle damage to Oga Slint through Meteor Black Dragon, he could achieve an effect comparable to Obelisk's infinite punch.

"It's over, Kevin Seth! The moment I reached the realm of infinity, my victory was already decided!"

"Infinite Life Points." Kevin looked seriously toward Oga Slint, who raced alongside him, as if he were a different person. "Is that the last thing supporting your confidence?"

"It's confidence in absolute victory!"

"How pathetic. Just this level of power, and you'd wager the final meaning of your life on it. You're fragile, Oga."

"Just this level of power… fragile? Kevin Seth, you…!"

It was Oga Slint's first time hearing someone dare say such a thing, even after witnessing infinite Life Points.

"I set one card. Turn end."

"I'll make you regret saying that!"

Victory in this duel was the final boundary in Oga Slint's life.

This was the one line he would not allow anyone to cross.

"At your End Phase, with the Continuous Trap [True King's Return], once per turn, I Special Summon the Earth Wyrm once more!"

Crawling back up from the crater created by the blast, Oga Slint's field once again displayed the three-attribute Wyrms.

Only now, Oga's Life Points had jumped from near-death—straight to infinity.

"My turn—draw!"

Scanning his hand, Oga Slint's remaining two cards were enough to push the power of infinite Life Points to its peak.

"I Normal Summon [Night Express Knight]!"

[Night Express Knight] Level 10│EARTH│Machine│3000 ATK

[You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but its original Attack becomes 0.]

A Level 10 monster was Normal Summoned straight to the field, the price being its Attack reduced to zero.

Aisha: "Mr. Miles, that card—!"

Miles: "Mm. It's one used by the Slint family."

A symbol of the Empire's absolute military strength—the Rank 10 and Level 10 war-machine Deck.

If such a card existed in Oga Slint's Deck, then it was highly likely Kevin's earlier deduction was correct: the Varian Empire had been pulling the strings.

"Next, I activate the Quick-Play Spell—[Star Changer]!"

[Select 1 face-up monster on the field. Choose 1: ● Increase its Level by 1. ● Decrease its Level by 1.]

"I raise my Level 9 True Dracophoenix to Level 10! Then I overlay my two Level 10 monsters to build the Xyz Overlay Network!"

A Rank higher than the descent of the True King of All Calamities.

When mentioning Rank 10 Xyz, the first thing Miles thought of was [Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max] and its 2000 effect damage.

Fortunately, Kevin's Life Points were still at a full 4000. Even tanking a hit wouldn't be fatal.

"But this is no simple Xyz Summon! This is the Xyz that unleashes the full extent of infinite power! Devour everything with your massive form—Rank 10, [Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula]!"

[Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula] Rank 10│DARK│Insect│0 ATK

[2 Level 10 monsters]

A dense and horrifying web covered the sky, suspending the colossal Rank 10 spider that viewed everything on the field as prey.

"Rank 10, but its Attack and Defense are both zero?" Kevin frowned.

A classic case—"ATK 0 / DEF 0 are always monsters".

Oga Slint thrust his arm forward. "As long as [Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula] is on my field, its Continuous Aura activates!"

[As long as this card is in the Monster Zone, all monsters you control gain ATK and DEF equal to the difference between your and your opponent's Life Points.]

"All my monsters gain ATK and DEF equal to the gap between our Life Points—which means—infinity!"

[Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula ATK: 0 → ∞]

[True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer ATK: 1800 → ∞]

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster ATK: 2500 → ∞]

Takehiko: "Unbelievable! Truly unbelievable! Infinite! Infinite! Infinite! All of Oga Slint's monsters now have infinite Attack!"

Three layers of infinite Attack—the True Kings trembled, their Wyrm bodies releasing enough force to annihilate heaven and earth.

And combined with Kevin's [Meteor Black Dragon].

Four monsters on the field.

All with infinite Attack.

"What kind of duel IS this?!"

"No, can this even still be called a duel?!"

The crowd erupted. Four infinite-ATK monsters simultaneously on the field… this was unprecedented and likely never to be repeated.

"As expected of the final showdown between the Three Academies… such an incredible level!"

"Get real… this has already surpassed academy-level entirely!"

It wasn't that the final showdown was impressive; it was simply that both duelists were monsters.

Infinity was appearing like it cost nothing.

"Kevin Seth, here and now—you will fall to me!"

Wielding three-fold infinite power, Oga Slint's divine aura surged to its peak.

"This is the strongest, most unbeatable divine power! I activate [Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula]'s effect!"

[Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy all monsters your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to this card's ATK.]

"Ravenous Tarantula's ATK is infinite—and Meteor Black Dragon's ATK is also infinite!"

By card rulings, "less than or equal to" includes the value itself. Meaning—infinity ≤ infinity.

"In the name of the infinite god—crush the final Black Dragon! 'Ravenous Destruction'!"

The web covering the sky collapsed, entangling Meteor Black Dragon's blazing body and shattering it instantly.

[Meteor Black Dragon] destroyed

Kevin countered immediately. "When [Meteor Black Dragon] is sent from the field to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Normal Monster from my Graveyard in Defense Position—come forth, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

[Red-Eyes Black Dragon DEF: 2000]

Kevin Seth's signature dragon appeared—but its 2000 Defense meant nothing before three layers of infinite power.

"When you Special Summon a monster, [Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula] deals 600 damage to you!"

[Kevin, LP: 4000 → 3400]

Oga roared, "Pathetic! Far too pathetic, Kevin Seth! The power you wield—the cards you hold—are insignificant before true divine might!"

Transforming all his True Kings to Attack Position and racing into the Battle Phase with triple infinity—

"The truly fragile one is YOU, Kevin Seth! True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer—infinite Tidal Roar!"

A water Wyrm's breath surged, stronger than a tsunami, erasing Kevin's mortal Red-Eyes in an instant.

[Red-Eyes Black Dragon] destroyed

"Your worthless mortal struggle ends here! Direct attack—True King Lithosagym, the Disaster! Fall, Kevin Seth!"

The second infinite-powered direct hit shattered the ground, tearing through Kevin's D-Wheel.

Yet Kevin looked ahead, unshaken, as he faced the tri-fold infinite power surpassing all gods.

"You're right, Oga Slint. I'm just a human. I don't have God Cards. I'm not some naturally gifted dueling prodigy."

After everything he'd experienced… Kevin knew this best.

He wasn't like Aisha Carlos, chosen by the Millennium Items.

He wasn't like Miles, who could master divine powers with ease.

He wasn't like his sister or Irena, born as dueling geniuses.

Even if he was the top of the academy rankings, even if he maintained perfect grades… it was only because he worked himself to the brink.

"Still, I've never feared gods just because I'm human! And I've never feared my name because of my family's crimes! Coward—Oga Slint—we are nothing alike!"

Flipping his final set card, Kevin unleashed the first summoning method he ever learned—right in the face of infinite power.

"My absurd effort… that's the path I walk toward becoming the strongest! Three layers of infinity—don't think you can stop me! I activate the Trap Card [King's Soul Harmony]!"

[Activate when an opponent's monster declares a direct attack. Negate that attack. Then, you can apply the following: ● Banish 1 Tuner and any number of non-Tuners from your Graveyard whose Levels total 8 or less; Special Summon 1 Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck with a Level equal to that total, treating it as a Synchro Summon.]

Miles gasped in delight. "A Synchro Summon? Kevin… he's mastered it! Synchro Summoning!"

"Oga Slint! Lsten well! My name is Kevin Seth! A mere human… but today, I slay a god!"

The light of royal soul Synchro erupted from Kevin's Graveyard, summoning a Synchro Dragon meant to confront triple infinity.
