Chapter 498 - 498: Kicking the Moon

Ada Wong set out with the armed squad.

The former Raccoon City Police Department had long since been converted into a memorial hall.

The squad assembled in front of the building, standing in orderly formation.

"After arriving in the other world, avoid unnecessary conflict," Ada said calmly. "That world does not rely on individual combat strength, and there is no immediate danger."

As she spoke, she habitually secured two Desert Eagles along the outside of her thighs.

With her current physical capabilities, firearms were largely symbolic.

Even so, years of combat instinct made the habit impossible to abandon.

The squad answered in unison and straightened.

Ada adjusted the rim of her tactical glasses and waited for Malrick's side to open the spatial passage.

At that moment, a faint light flickered across her lenses, and a message appeared.

"Hm?"

"Mr. Zhou, former Vice Chairman of the International Joint Government, experienced a brief overlap with his counterpart."

"He inherited part of the other party's memories."

"The Mr. Zhou from the other world is named Zhou Zhezhi. You may establish contact."

Ada silently committed the name Zhou Zhezhi to memory.

A deep blue spatial portal opened in front of them.

Ada raised two fingers and gestured forward.

"Move out."

Wandering Earth.

Some people fled in desperation.

Some waited quietly for death.

Others rushed into space, preparing to gamble everything to save the planet.

Two days earlier, the planetary engine responsible for adjusting the Moon's orbit had malfunctioned and exploded.

Now the Moon was falling toward Earth.

In less than ten hours, the collision would wipe out all life.

The Joint Government's aerospace teams had already departed to destroy the Moon.

Every second now carried unbearable weight.

The fate of humanity would be decided within hours.

Then, a mirage appeared in the sky above Earth.

Familiar yet alien cities.

Figures leaping dozens of meters across rooftops.

To the people of this world, it looked like the final omen before extinction.

To believers, it resembled the gates of heaven opening, a divine summons before the end.

An uneasy tension filled the Joint Government headquarters.

That tension eased slightly when Zhou Zhezhi entered the command room in a wheelchair, accompanied by a small squad wearing simple tactical gear.

"Zhou?" asked the representative of the White Bear Nation, turning from his workstation. "What are you doing here?"

"I believe our situation has changed," Zhou Zhezhi said with an uncontrollable smile. His voice was clearer than it had been in decades. "The Wandering Earth plan may need adjustments."

He raised his cane and gestured toward the black-haired woman beside him.

"This lady is Ada Wong. She has brought important news."

"What kind of news could matter right now?" the representative snapped. "Our priority is the Moon. If the destruction plan fails, there is no tomorrow."

Zhou Zhezhi did not argue.

He merely chuckled and looked at Ada.

Ada nodded and swept her gaze across the room.

"What if this change involves world fusion?"

The room froze.

Even the cameras mounted in the corners slowly rotated toward her, red indicators blinking.

Ada glanced at them briefly and continued.

"My Earth sends its greetings. Gentlemen, please order your astronauts to stop the operation."

"Because our world's savior is about to save the world."

The Moon.

All spacecraft preparing to deploy nuclear weapons halted simultaneously.

An unbelievable order was transmitted.

Cease deployment. Land. Observe Earth.

Silence filled the cockpits.

Some astronauts were confused.

Others understood immediately.

Hope was gone, and this was their final moment to look at home.

Tears floated inside helmets.

Some astronauts opened their hatches and stepped onto the Moon's surface, gazing at the blue planet one last time.

Among them, Liu Peiqiang's team had just reached lunar orbit when their ship was damaged in a collision.

The original plan had been to transfer the injured to a nearby Moon base for evacuation.

Liu Peiqiang and Captain Amy were supposed to continue the mission using a lunar rover.

Now, they stopped as well.

"So this is how it ends?" Liu Peiqiang murmured, staring at Earth.

His thoughts drifted to his son and his father-in-law.

Captain Amy stood beside him in a daze.

"This is strange," she said quietly. "Am I hallucinating?"

Liu Peiqiang tried to rub his eyes, only to bump his helmet.

He widened his eyes instead.

"When I look at Earth, it feels like I can see skyscrapers. And people jumping on rooftops."

Amy nodded slowly. "I see it too. Like a space mirage."

"You saw it as well?" Liu Peiqiang froze. "Then did you see that person outside Earth?"

Amy hesitated. "It does not look like he is near Earth. It looks like he is above us."

They all looked up.

Above them, a young man in casual clothing floated in the void.

He noticed them.

He smiled.

Liu Peiqiang smiled back instinctively and even nodded.

Only afterward did a chill run down his spine.

Before he could process whether this was a ghost or some impossible phenomenon, the man descended and landed on the Moon.

He stomped once.

Not gently.

Not violently.

The astronauts felt weightless, floating briefly before settling back onto the lunar surface.

Then they noticed something impossible.

Earth was moving away.

"The Moon," Liu Peiqiang blurted out, voice shaking. "The Moon was kicked away by him?"

Captain Amy, usually articulate and composed, swore without restraint.

"Holy shit. Is that man God?"

"I do not know," Liu Peiqiang said blankly. "But he might be Erlang Shen. Or Nezha."

Joint Government Command Room.

The world's top scientists were gathered here.

Any one of them would be a leading authority in their field.

Now, all of them stared at the screens, mouths wide open.

"The Moon is back in orbit!"

"The Sun's expansion index is shrinking!"

"Impossible. Someone is altering gravitational parameters!"

"If this stabilizes, the Sun might stop expanding. We might not need to wander anymore!"

"I believe in God today. Thank you for saving this world!"

At the center of the room, Ada Wong smiled at the assembled representatives.

"Our savior has taken action, gentlemen."
