Chapter 154 - Chapter 164 Team

Two months later, at Lake Centri in New Mexico, Clark was busy training Godzilla, working to turn the beast into an excellent mount. In fact, all Clark needed to do was give a command or pull a certain horn on Godzilla's head, and the creature would immediately respond. Otherwise—it got a beating.

In these past two months, Godzilla seemed to be inflating like a balloon, growing larger and larger. Clark estimated its current height to be around 110 meters, roughly the size of a 30-story building. From the ground up, Godzilla looked like a mountain—its terrifying, savage appearance enough to chill anyone to the bone.

Standing nearby, Diana observed the fearsome monster obeying Clark's every command like a trained dog, and felt that its imposing presence didn't quite match its actual behavior. But she knew—it was Clark's fists that had shaped Godzilla into what it was today.

While Clark was happily directing Godzilla through laps in the water, his phone rang—it was Coulson.

"Hey, what's up, Coulson? Why the sudden call?"

On the other end, Coulson's voice came through: "Clark, it's about your monster."

"Godzilla?! What about it?" Clark was curious. He'd been keeping Godzilla hidden for nearly three months. How could anything have happened?

"You know it's called Godzilla?" Coulson sounded surprised. Apparently, they'd never really discussed Clark's monster before, and until now, Coulson hadn't even known that Clark had named it Godzilla.

In fact, it had taken Coulson more than a month of investigation to uncover that the monster's name was Godzilla—especially since the people involved with the Emperor Project weren't easy to deal with.

"What's wrong with calling it Godzilla?" Clark replied, but as he spoke, a thought struck him. In the Marvel Universe, he'd never seen any shows or movies about Godzilla. Sure, there were cartoons—but those were just opportunistic productions made after the Tokyo Bay incident.

So logically, no one should know his monster was called Godzilla—because Clark himself had made up the name, based on how much the creature reminded him of the Godzilla from the movies of his past life.

Which meant—if Coulson now knew the monster was called Godzilla, then how did he find out?

On the other end, Coulson was also deep in thought. Had Clark heard the monster speak its name? If so, that might suggest Godzilla had intelligence, maybe even language—a sentient species?

But if not… then how had Clark known about its kind?

Finally, Coulson just said, "Let's meet. I've got some information I think you'll want to see."

"What kind of information? Fine, I'm at home. Where are you?"

"We're in the sky." Coulson looked to May, who gave him a "30 minutes" gesture.

"But I'll be at your place in 30 minutes."

Clark looked up. He didn't know exactly how fast Coulson's plane was flying, but at standard high-altitude speeds (roughly 700–3000 km/h), a 30-minute flight would place Coulson about 350 to 1500 kilometers away.

That range was well within Clark's vision.

Sure enough, after scanning the skies, Clark spotted the aircraft: a black jet that looked like a commercial airliner. Onboard were Coulson and four others—including Melinda May, whom Clark had met before.

So this was it—the team Coulson had mentioned he was forming. It must already be assembled.

"Can your aircraft door open mid-air?" Clark asked suddenly.

"…What?" Coulson was caught off guard.

"Sir, there's something heading toward us—fast. Oh my god, it's overlapping with us!" Simmons called out from her station. The radar showed an object approaching at impossible speed.

"I'm right above you," Clark's voice came through Coulson's phone just as he looked toward the radar.

"Alright," Coulson said, then turned to May. "May, open the hatch. Our guest has arrived."

"Oh my god… sir, it's Superman!" Fitz exclaimed. It had to be. There were only a handful of people on Earth capable of moving that fast—and only one matched this level of flight. A wave of awe surged in the heart of Fitz, a lifelong Superman fan.

"Coulson, is this the team you've put together?" Clark asked, as he floated in through the airlock on the upper side of the aircraft, now docked with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s former Air Force command jet.
