Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Star Vault Awakens

The sky above Elderglen remained restless.

Dark clouds churned like an angry ocean.

Winds swept across the village.

The silver pillar of light continued piercing the heavens from somewhere deep within the northern forest.

Nobody could look away.

Not the villagers.

Not the beasts hiding within the wilderness.

Not even the gods watching from beyond reality.

The world itself seemed to be holding its breath.

Waiting.

Watching.

Anticipating.

Something.

Anything.

The silver light continued shining.

Brighter.

Stronger.

Older.

As though a forgotten piece of history had suddenly awakened.

---

Mortal Realm – Elderglen Village

---

The village square had become crowded.

Dozens of villagers gathered together.

Fear.

Excitement.

Curiosity.

Every emotion imaginable could be seen on their faces.

Children pointed toward the distant pillar.

Adults exchanged worried glances.

The elderly whispered stories and legends.

Rowan stood among them.

One arm instinctively wrapped around Luna.

Protective.

Steady.

Comforting.

Yet beneath his calm expression, concern continued growing.

'Something isn't right.'

The feeling refused to disappear.

Ever since the appearance of the prophecy—though he knew nothing about it—the world seemed different.

Stranger.

As though invisible gears had begun turning somewhere beyond mortal understanding.

Luna remained quiet.

Her gaze fixed upon the silver light.

For reasons she couldn't explain, her heart beat faster whenever she looked at it.

Not from fear.

Not from danger.

Recognition.

A strange feeling of familiarity.

As though something within the distant forest was calling to her.

Calling to the child.

The thought sent chills through her body.

Why does it feel like that?

Before she could dwell on it further—

The child kicked.

Hard.

Much harder than before.

Luna gasped.

Her hand immediately pressed against her stomach.

The movement continued.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Almost frantic.

Almost excited.

Rowan immediately noticed.

"Luna?"

"I'm fine."

Another kick.

Stronger this time.

The unborn child appeared unusually active.

Almost as though it knew something nobody else did.

Almost as though it was responding to the light.

---

Heavania Realm

---

Within the Hall of Origin, the atmosphere had become significantly heavier.

The divine projection floating before the fourteen gods displayed the silver pillar in perfect detail.

No one spoke for several moments.

The silence itself felt oppressive.

Eventually, Caelum broke it.

"The Star Vault should not have activated."

The God of Stars rarely spoke without certainty.

This time was no different.

Aurelion folded his arms.

"Explain."

Caelum's expression darkened.

"The Star Vault predates civilization."

"It predates the first kingdoms."

"It predates the first races."

Several gods nodded.

They already knew this.

The Star Vault was ancient.

Incredibly ancient.

Yet its true purpose remained unknown.

Even to them.

Which was saying something.

After all, they were gods.

They had witnessed creation itself.

Yet the Star Vault remained a mystery.

A relic from an age even older than recorded history.

An age hidden behind forgotten truths.

"The Vault has remained dormant for over ten thousand years," Caelum continued.

"No activity."

"No signals."

"No responses."

"Nothing."

His gaze shifted toward the projection.

"Until now."

The implications were obvious.

Something had awakened it.

Something important.

Something connected to the prophecy.

A possibility that none of them particularly enjoyed.

Especially because it suggested forces outside their control.

---

Hellaru Realm

---

Deep within the endless darkness of Hellaru, Malgor stood upon a balcony overlooking a sea of black flames.

His golden eyes reflected the distant stars.

Even from this realm, he could sense the disturbance.

The awakening.

The call.

The beginning.

A smile appeared.

Slow.

Dangerous.

Excited.

'Interesting.'

Very interesting.

The child hadn't even been born.

Yet ancient relics were already responding.

Ancient locations were already awakening.

Ancient powers were already moving.

Malgor understood ambition better than anyone.

It was his domain.

His nature.

His purpose.

And his instincts screamed a single truth.

The child would become important.

Not someday.

Not eventually.

Soon.

Very soon.

A faint laugh escaped him.

"Let's see how far you can climb."

Far away, hidden within the shadows of Hellaru, something listened.

Something old.

Something patient.

Something that had not moved in countless ages.

Its eyes slowly opened.

Crimson.

Ancient.

Hungry.

Then they closed once more.

---

Mortal Realm – Northern Forest

---

Miles away from Elderglen.

At the center of the silver pillar.

The forest had transformed.

Animals fled.

Monsters retreated.

Even insects avoided the area.

An unnatural silence covered everything.

The trees themselves appeared uneasy.

At the center of the disturbance stood a hill.

Ordinary.

Forgettable.

Unremarkable.

At least...

It had been.

Cracks now spread across its surface.

Silver energy escaped from beneath the earth.

The ground trembled continuously.

Rock fragmented.

Soil collapsed.

Then—

BOOOOM!

The hill exploded.

Dust filled the sky.

Massive chunks of stone scattered across the forest.

Trees shattered.

The earth split apart.

And beneath the hill...

Something emerged.

An enormous doorway.

Ancient.

Weathered.

Covered in silver runes.

Its size dwarfed nearby trees.

Its surface resembled polished starlight.

Countless symbols moved across the structure.

Shifting.

Changing.

Living.

The Star Vault.

Awakened.

For the first time in ten thousand years.

The silver pillar vanished.

The doorway remained.

Silent.

Waiting.

Watching.

As though expecting someone.

---

Mortal Realm – Elderglen Village

---

The silver light disappeared.

Gasps echoed throughout the village.

The sudden absence felt almost surreal.

Everyone remained frozen.

Confused.

Uncertain.

"What happened?"

"Did it end?"

"Was it magic?"

Questions spread rapidly.

Yet nobody possessed answers.

Not even Rowan.

Not even Luna.

Then a distant tremor shook the ground.

The villagers immediately grew quiet.

A second tremor followed.

Then a third.

Each stronger than the last.

Fear returned instantly.

Children hid behind parents.

Adults gripped tools and weapons.

The memories of the Moonfang Wolf remained fresh.

Nobody wanted another disaster.

Fortunately, the shaking eventually stopped.

Leaving behind only uncertainty.

And questions.

Many questions.

---

Heavania Realm

---

The divine projection shifted.

Now displaying the Star Vault itself.

For the first time in millennia, all fourteen gods looked genuinely concerned.

The massive doorway dominated the image.

Ancient runes glowed softly.

Silver light flowed across its surface.

The sight felt wrong.

Not evil.

Not hostile.

Simply wrong.

As though reality itself struggled to understand its existence.

Then something unexpected happened.

A single rune lit up.

Bright silver.

Then another.

And another.

Until dozens glowed simultaneously.

The runes rearranged themselves.

Forming words.

Ancient words.

Words that even the gods could understand.

The chamber fell silent.

Because the message was simple.

THE HEIR APPROACHES

Nobody spoke.

Nobody moved.

The words remained visible.

Burning themselves into reality.

THE HEIR APPROACHES

Then they vanished.

Gone.

Without explanation.

Without clarification.

Leaving only confusion behind.

And a growing sense of unease.

"Heir?" Serapha finally whispered.

"An heir to what?"

No one answered.

Because nobody knew.

---

Mortal Realm – Rowan's Home

---

Night arrived.

The village slowly settled down.

Most people returned home.

Though sleep would not come easily.

Not after everything they had witnessed.

Inside their house, Rowan sat beside Luna.

A lantern illuminated the room.

Soft.

Warm.

Comforting.

For a while, neither spoke.

The silence wasn't uncomfortable.

Just thoughtful.

Eventually Luna broke it.

"Do you think it means anything?"

Rowan looked up.

"The light?"

She nodded.

"The earthquakes."

"The sky."

"The strange feeling."

Her hand gently rested upon her stomach.

The child immediately responded with a small kick.

A smile appeared despite her worries.

"I don't know."

Rowan answered honestly.

"But whatever happens..."

His hand covered hers.

"We'll face it together."

Luna smiled.

A genuine smile.

The kind capable of chasing away fear.

For a brief moment, everything felt normal again.

Peaceful.

Safe.

Then the room suddenly became colder.

The lantern flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Both parents froze.

A strange sensation filled the house.

Not threatening.

Not hostile.

Yet undeniably present.

Someone else was there.

Watching.

Neither could see anything.

Yet the feeling remained.

Powerful.

Ancient.

Patient.

Luna's eyes widened.

The child began moving again.

Not frantically.

Not excitedly.

Calmly.

Almost happily.

As though greeting an old friend.

The invisible presence lingered for several seconds.

Then disappeared.

Just like that.

Gone.

The warmth returned.

The lantern stabilized.

Everything seemed normal once more.

Yet neither Rowan nor Luna spoke.

Because they both felt it.

Something had entered their home.

Something impossible.

Something beyond understanding.

Far above the world, the fourteen gods abruptly rose from their thrones.

Every single one.

Shock filled their expressions.

Because they had sensed it too.

A presence.

Ancient beyond measure.

A presence that appeared for only a few seconds.

Yet those few seconds were enough.

Enough to send chills through beings who ruled reality itself.

Aurelion's face hardened.

"Did everyone feel that?"

The answer was obvious.

They had.

Every single one of them.

And for the first time since the prophecy appeared...

A terrifying possibility entered their minds.

Perhaps the child wasn't the only mystery.

Perhaps something else had awakened alongside him.

Something older than the Star Vault.

Something older than the realms.

Something older than the gods themselves.

And somewhere beyond the edge of existence...

A pair of eyes slowly opened.

Watching.

Waiting.

Remembering.

To be continued...
