Sitting in the meeting face to face with the man who neglected me after taking me away from that orphanage, I would rather have died in that place, that going through what I went through in the hands of such a negligent person "I'm glad, you agreed to see us" Mr. Maqburne said with a smile, I returned the smile, I have to endure being in your presence and trying not to put a knife through your throat "its a pleasure Mr. Maqburne, when you requested to see I was quite curious is this an urgent matter" I asked, feigning ignorance
I was quite aware of the impending down fall of Tidal tech and I'm also aware of who caused it but I didn't care because it only gave me more advantage, his face fell letting out a heavy sigh he started "yes, my company is at the brink of reaching its end and I'm in need of your help" hearing his pitiful tale I could not help but be sad, the smile that was threatening to expose me would not win "oh it's so tragic to hear that sir, if I may ask how can I be of help" I asked, with the most concerned expression I could make.
Mr. Maqburne paused, like he wanted me to think of suggestions when I'm already sure of what he was going to say, he sighed again, this was the third time, I guess the downfall of the company he worked so hard on to build was really disheartening not that I cared "it would be of great help if you partnered with us" he finally said, and like I expected he wanted to use the boost my company had to fix his, what a truly sly man indeed.
uncrossing my leg, I sat up letting out a sigh, it was my turn to let out one now "will that really aide your company?" I asked, like I didnt know it was the only solution he thought off cause he only had advantages for him and not me "for now yes but if you have suggestions please let me know" he said
he was smooth with his tongue, it wasnt unexpected since he has been a businessman for years, but unfortunately for him I was in this to help him, thinking for a while I said "I will ponder on it more and let you know if I have any other suggestion" , the smile on his face faltered but he brought it back up like it was an imaginaton "please do ponder on my suggestion to" he said, nodding I smiled wider "of course, when I make a decision I will inform you of the next meeting" I replied getting up from my seat "I should get going now, send my greetings to your daughter if it wasn't for her peculiar persistence I wouldn't be here" I said walking out of the restaurant, that ought to give him something to think about.
walking to my car, I spot a familiar jeep that has been following me around constantly, sighing I made a mental note to tell Alec to stop monitoring me or else I'm going to file for a restraining order, getting into the car I drove out, my next destination was a lunch date with Damon, reaching the restaurant. it was one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, I always felt like it was overpriced but since he wanted to impress me, I should be impressed as innocent Adelia
walking out of my car, I walk in to the restaurant, a waiter walks in and guides me to where Damon was seated, the place wasn't bad it had a good view of the city from upstairs but wasn't it risky how open it was, I wonder how many people jump to their death after getting heartbroken during lunch.
seeing me he stood, pushing my seat back so I could sit down, atleast he is a gentleman. sitting down the waiter drops the menu and walks away, "thank you for coming to see me" he started, I smiled shyly "its fine, I wasn't busy so its nothing" I said, looking at the menu "so what would you like to order" he said obviously trying to make conversation, I looked up at him from the menu "I'll just take whatever you're having" I replied with another smile.
the waiter came later and he made the order, turning back to me when the waiter left "so what year did you enter the college" he asked, its funny how he couldn't tell I'm much older than he thinks I am but its all thanks to my small stature "I'm a transfer student, my parents move alot so I dont stay in one place for a long time" I said lying through my teeth and he was taking it in with all seriousness "I'm in same the year as you but we attend classes differently cause I have alot to catch up on what you have already learnt" I continued
"so are you finishing here?" he asked
"I'm not sure, but I'll love to its such a wonderful school" I said, this was part lie, I loved the college cause they cause give good education even though I had to pay my school fees myself I made sure I graduated from the college.
after awhile of talking about school, our dishes arrived, we started eating "is the meal to your liking?" he asked, "its not bad but I've tasted better" I said, there was no need lie about my taste, nodding "I'll take you somewhere else next time" he said, "there would be no next time Damon" I replied, dropping my cutlery "Mr. Damon I really don't want any distractions, I only accepted your invitation so you can let me be from now on, I hope we don't meet again, thank you" I say picking up my bag and walking out of the restaurant.
smiling on my way out, that's gotta be enough push to keep him hooked on me.
seeing Adelia rejecting him and walking away, he didn't feel pain from rejection only intrigue and curiousity, no one has resisted his charm before so what is it that makes her different. he was going to find out at all cost.
