Chapter 440 - Victory, but they escaped

The Elf in front of her stared with a sulky expression, but then turned serious again. Lifting her left foot, she kicked the ground below, creating a devastated zone of ice and debris. Ice towers began to extend around the two of them.

'I can't destroy too much of the city, so I had to do it in a reduced zone.'

"A girl? I'm honestly surprised."

Ocirne didn't really look that much like a boy, but the way she dressed without revealing any sign of femininity and her face with certain similarities, even if subtle, was somewhat surprising. Slapping her palm against her forehead, she focused back on the fight. It wasn't the time to think about that. It was time for her to have fun in a good fight between true prodigies.

'Now that I think about it, seeing that guy's preferences when he accepted Elian, this one might have a chance.'

Elian hadn't accepted anything, and Enrico hadn't confirmed anything because of his provocative style when the topic was the feminine-looking boy, but everyone already seemed to think they were together, even Victoria. Turning serious, she released her spatial magic in the form of an aura around her body. A barrier capable of changing the trajectory of magical or physical attacks.

"Space Bending."

That was the best decision she could have made, because when a large blue light coming from the tower fell upon her, the air around her aura froze completely. She was only not frozen because that defense also managed to divert the magic's effect.

All four towers lit up at the same time this time, transforming that entire area into a massive block of ice. Ocirne was at a far distance after retreating from the attack she herself had launched. This magic was so strong that even its owner would be frozen despite having resistance to ice.

'Cooling the air below zero... it's good, but I won't be able to use this from now on.'

She watched as the entire area transformed into ice, which continued to grow. Looking at her own ice, she clenched her fist tightly and then released a cold sigh. Stretching a little, she calmly watched her ice being shattered by a black wave with small star-like dots. It was as if space itself were being seen in that brief instant before disappearing.

'I'll have to use my physique.'

Victoria teleported behind the dark Elf. Her left hand held a black sword that had the same appearance as the black wave released earlier. Lowering herself, she saw space being cut more easily than when she had used the magic in its pure form.

"Ego Weapon: Sword of the Spatial God."

'Ego Weapon...'

Seriously, she watched Victoria approach with more speed than before. That Ego Weapon, surprisingly, had several abilities she had already demonstrated. It could both cut space along with the magic and redirect attacks. In addition, it granted an increase to her physical abilities like all of them to a certain degree, but her enhanced abilities were doubled.

'Truly, only a prodigy can do that.'

A small smile appeared on her lips when she dodged a thrust by jumping backward. The blade almost touched her neck, and even though she managed to dodge, a light cut appeared on her neck. Creating a platform of ice, she stepped on it and propelled herself to Victoria's left.

Spikes of ice began to emerge from her leg. With a spin to dodge a second cut and to gain more momentum, she landed a kick on her opponent's arm, causing damage that pierced through Victoria's bones.

'She managed to damage me... that's good. I'll use her to evolve even more.'

Being pushed backward by the kick, Victoria let out an excited smile as she spun her sword and released a gigantic slash toward Ocirne, who was surprised—not because the attack was coming at her, slicing houses in half at absurd speed.

'Is she going to destroy part of the city by any chance?'

All the civilians had been removed from the city by a powerful mage on Elaris' side. Because of that, some attacks could be released with more power, but this city was still useful for both sides.

Maintaining the serious and focused expression she had throughout the fight, she stood in front of the attack and began forming her two ice staffs again. Victoria seemed to realize she had overdone it and raised her hand to reduce the attack's strength.

'Damn, I got too excited. If Enrico finds out, I won't be able to fight him anytime soon.'

Before she could stop it, she saw Ocirne launching herself against the attack with the ice staffs. That was when she simply let the attack continue for one simple reason... curiosity. The two staffs began to change little by little. They gained dragon scales and extended slightly. Fusing both into one, she stopped midair and aimed at the incoming attack in a low stance.

"Ego Weapon: Scales of the Ice Dragon."

Taking a deep breath, she tightened the muscles in her arm and thrust forward as the attack came close. At the touch of the staff's tip, the attack transformed into pure crystalline ice. Victoria widened her eyes at the genius displayed by her opponent. Truly, this Elf was at the same level as her and the other two.

'She saw my Ego Weapon once and managed to create her own in seconds... what will her Ego Weapon's ability be?'

"It seems we lost."

Ocirne looked upward, which made Victoria's eyes do the same. From above, an armored elf fell from the sky onto the ground at a distance. This Elf was the one with armor covering his entire body. Meanwhile, the winner of the fight descended with some injuries—Tailon.

"We won."

In two other places, it seemed the other two Circle Eight fighters on the city's side had also been defeated. One Elf was trapped between trees in a way that looked like a seal while Virelle looked down at her from above. The third battle was happening far away, but since the two victorious Circle Eights didn't even look over there, it was certain that their ally had won. Victoria looked at Ocirne with an idea in mind.

"I will take you with me, so we can train together with the other two. I promise it will be interesting for prodigies like us."

"How—"

"I'll at least take our prodigy."

Kaedryn appeared beside her, quickly grabbing her with his left arm and flying away. Immediately, Victoria began to follow him, and right behind her was Erina, who had been following him earlier with some injuries on her body. Without a doubt, the one who had suffered the most in that fight was Kaedryn, whose right arm was broken.

'Having to flee like this is humiliating.'

Grabbing a stone, he crushed it, teleporting them to an underground base a few meters away, which they used for their allies to sleep or to escape from the city.

"We have to leave quickly."

"Wait a moment, sir. My room is right to the right. I need to get my treasure."

"Treasure?"

He saw the girl run quickly to the room. Having to follow her, he saw a box the size of a person and one meter wide. It seemed to be made of ice, but she placed it on her back with some blue ropes. Turning to him, she had a relieved expression.

"Alright, let's go."
