Chapter 257 - Chapter 257: The Fool Jumped Out on His Own

Jiraiya looked at Orochimaru with a strange expression, completely at a loss as to why this guy wouldn't let him speak.

This test was practically a freebie. Even someone like him, who was always at the bottom of the class, could pass it.

For such a simple exam, as long as you had a normal brain, failing was basically impossible.

Perhaps only the legendary senior of the ninja academy could actually fail something like this…

Orochimaru looked at Jiraiya helplessly. As expected of the class dunce, he couldn't even pick up on such an obvious hint.

Right now, Orochimaru just wanted this idiot to shut his mouth and not anger Renya-sama.

After all, Renya was that very legendary senior of the academy!

No wonder the teachers at school never dared reveal the senior's name. Whenever students asked, they would stammer and dodge the question, clearly intimidated by that legendary identity…

If Renya-sama really was that so-called exam "legend" who once scored a five, it made perfect sense why the teachers never dared say his name.

After all, who would dare expose the dark history of a hero of Konoha?

"Orochimaru, why won't you let me talk?!" Jiraiya angrily slapped Orochimaru's hand away and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

It was one thing for this bastard to butt heads with him on a daily basis, but now he wouldn't even let him speak.

Orochimaru sighed helplessly at the idiot in front of him.

A dunce was a dunce—beyond saving.

"Asshole, what's with that look in your eyes?!" Jiraiya hated it the most when Orochimaru gave him that condescending, idiot-staring look.

"Fool." Orochimaru curled his lip dismissively.

Jiraiya: "…"

If Renya-sama weren't here, he'd definitely have fought Orochimaru already.

Wait, Renya-sama!

Jiraiya and Orochimaru turned to look at Renya at the same time, only to see him still staring at the test paper, lost in thought.

"Hmm, this question is kind of interesting."

Had the ninja academy's exams gotten this complicated?

Back in his day, he could at least scribble down a couple answers by instinct. But now? He was utterly clueless.

He couldn't make sense of it at all.

Renya didn't understand why theory questions needed to be so complicated.

What use were theory exams on the battlefield? In the end, strength was what really mattered!

When facing a powerful enemy, was one supposed to convince them with test scores?

In the end, wasn't it still about having the power to kill your opponent?

The time spent on these academic lessons would be better used refining chakra.

So it seemed that old geezer Senju Tobirama hadn't taken his advice after all…

Years ago, Renya had suggested that Tobirama abolish cultural classes from the academy.

Not only did the old man refuse, he even made them harder.

Now Renya couldn't understand a single problem. If he actually had to take the test, he'd probably set a new personal record for lowest score.

Even though he couldn't solve a single question, he couldn't let the juniors notice. He had no choice but to put on an act of deep contemplation.

This was about saving face as a senior—absolutely couldn't let them find out how terrible he was at academics.

"Renya-san, how much longer are you going to look?" Tsunade asked impatiently.

She had only brought the test paper to Renya so she could trade her perfect score for a nice meal.

Instead, Renya had first accused her of cheating, and now he was just staring at the test in a daze.

Tsunade didn't get it—was it really necessary to take this long on such simple questions?

Even Jiraiya, the eternal dunce, had passed. That said it all about the difficulty, didn't it?

"Haha, I just wanted to see what kind of person made this exam. Turns out, it's nothing special. No wonder you managed to score full marks."

Renya chuckled as he handed the test back to Tsunade, showing not the slightest hint of awkwardness or guilt.

This was the mindset of a true academic slacker—never letting something as trivial as grades affect his mood.

To him, scoring five or scoring zero was no different.

A true powerhouse never cared about useless things like grades.

Orochimaru stared at the calm and confident Renya in disbelief. For the first time, horror crept onto his normally composed face.

If he hadn't already known the truth, he might actually have believed that nonsense.

Such an obvious pack of lies… only a fool would buy it.

"Wow, Renya-sama, you're amazing!" Jiraiya said, full of admiration. "Not only are your grades excellent, but your strength is incredible too. You're practically my idol!"

He too wanted to become a strong man like Renya-sama one day, someone who could protect the village and be admired as a great hero.

"Hahaha, modest, modest." Renya laughed cheerfully.

As long as he kept quiet about his lousy grades, no one would ever know.

For a hero of Konoha, wasn't it normal to have good scores?

Jiraiya really was his type—what a perfect emotional booster!

No wonder leaders always needed flatterers around.

"Jiraiya, I believe you'll grow as strong as me one day!"

"Really, Renya-sama?!"

"Haha, of course it's true."

"Uuuuh, thank you, Renya-sama!"

Orochimaru: "…"

Heh, the fool jumped out on his own.

"Renya-san, I got full marks on the test. Don't you think I deserve a reward?"

Tsunade waved her perfect score proudly in front of Renya. She hadn't forgotten her original purpose here.

"You little kid, always scheming to make me cook." Renya shook his head with a smile. "Fine, wait here. I'll go prepare dinner."

Since the girl had scored perfectly, a meal was indeed a fitting reward.

After all, even if you added up several of his own test scores, they still wouldn't reach one hundred.

"Yes!" Tsunade jumped up in excitement at her successful plan.

"Hehehe, I get to eat something delicious again." Jiraiya was practically drooling.

Orochimaru looked at him in disgust and instinctively pulled further away.

This guy never stopped embarrassing himself.

"Renya-sama, let me help you with the ingredients." Orochimaru quickly followed at Renya's side.

He didn't want to spend another moment near Jiraiya. Spending too much time with that fool would lower his IQ.

Renya raised his brows in surprise at the boy. Had Orochimaru always been this good at currying favor since childhood?

No wonder, in the future, he could win such unwavering loyalty from his followers.

His charisma was truly undeniable.

"Alright, you can help me wash the vegetables."

Since someone was willing to help, of course Renya had no reason to refuse.

Orochimaru's heart filled with a spark of anticipation.

He had long wanted to watch Renya-sama cook, but never had the right opportunity.

Now he finally had the chance. Maybe he could even pick up some cooking skills.

If he succeeded, he'd be able to make himself delicacies at home too.

"Dammit, that sneaky Orochimaru!" Jiraiya clenched his fists angrily. "By sticking close to Renya-sama, won't he get to taste the food first?!"

"Renya-sama, I'll help too!" Jiraiya shouted, quickly rushing toward the kitchen.

He was terrified that if he arrived too late, Orochimaru would have eaten all the food already.
