Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Man Hanging on the World Tree

Miracle Calendar, November 11, 2333, Day of the Demon's Downfall.

Today marks the first anniversary of the great victory in the "Gods and Demons War" on the Divine Protection Continent. The whole of Divine Protection Continent and half of Divine Protection Continent are basking in a festive atmosphere.

A year ago, the great World-saving Hero decapitated the Lord of the Demon Realm, the Demon Dragon Emperor, in front of the World Tree and led the army to a historical triumph unprecedented in the history of Miracle World. The once invincible Demon Race army was routed, retreating all the way back to Divine Protection Continent, allowing the Divine Protection Army to reclaim half of Divine Protection Continent in its stride.

Although the days of suffering and devastation at the hands of the Demon Race only ended a year ago, the people of the Divine Protection Continent already know that good days have arrived.

Now, with the Divine Protection Legion confronting the regrouped Demon King Army across the snow-capped mountains of Divine Protection Continent, the Divine Protection Continent in the rear is brimming with life and vitality as everything vies to flourish.

...

"Xiya sister, what wish did you just make?"

Amongst the festival crowds, a little human girl tugged at the elf girl beside her, innocently probing about her wishful prayers.

The elf girl wearing the signature attire of the Elf Race had on a light green top that gracefully covered her slender frame, while a dark green mid-length skirt accentuated the fair and bright appearance of her exposed thigh and lower leg. Due to the festivities, she also wore a colorful floral crown, which, combined with her smooth green hair, made her look even more elegant and charming.

The elf girl named Xiya was a local celebrity, not only because her charming face was extraordinary even among the beautiful Elves, but also because she had been the head of the local "War Orphan Shelter" for twenty years, which would be an entire youth for a human.

Fortunately, Headmistress Xiya is of the Elf Race, the period considered to be prime youth by humans had only slightly matured her.

"If you say your wish, it won't come true, Little Yuli. Don't pry."

Xiya held the little girl's hand, crouched down, and touched her forehead with hers, using this affectionate gesture to ease the child's curiosity.

"But everyone says, if you write your wish on paper and hang it from the branches of the World Tree, the wish will definitely come true! Isn't Xiya sister going to try?"

Little Yuli enjoyed the closeness of her 'big sister,' pointing to the distant crowd gathered under the World Tree, all trying to toss their wish lists up onto the World Tree.

Standing proudly at the center of the continent, the World Tree soars to ten thousand meters, with its lowest branches reaching several hundred meters above the ground, making it difficult for even a level 300 Sky Knight to throw a piece of paper onto it.

Of course, if he were to fly, a few hundred meters wouldn't be hard for a Sky Knight, but within ten thousand meters of the World Tree is an absolute no-fly zone, not even the emperors of the Five Great Empires would dare misbehave before the World Tree.

"Those who can hang their wishes on the World Tree are formidable strongmen who can fulfill their wishes with their own abilities, so it's only natural for their wishes to come true. If Little Yuli also has big dreams, then train hard, and when you become a level 500 Saint Tier strongman, what wish couldn't you achieve?"

Xiya patted Little Yuli's round head and pinched her chubby cheeks, speaking softly to her.

"Those who can hang their wishes on the World Tree are formidable, but what about those who can hang themselves on the World Tree? What would that mean?"

Little Yuli pointed towards the direction of the World Tree and asked cutely.

"Hang oneself on the World Tree?"

Xiya tilted her head upon hearing this, displaying a "pretty girl in question marks" expression. How could anyone hang oneself on the World Tree within a ten thousand meters no-fly zone? Unless someone threw them up there…

But who would be so bored to throw a living person…wait! What's going on?!

Following where Little Yuli was pointing, Xiya looked intently, and just when she assumed it was someone's prank, she found indeed a person hanging on the distant World Tree.

However, it wasn't the fact that there was someone hanging on the tree that shocked Xiya, but their location.

He…was hanging on a branch several hundred meters from the treetop, meaning he was about ten thousand meters up in the air, a level that…couldn't be reached without flying! How on earth did someone get thrown that high!

It was ten thousand meters up, how strong would one need to be to throw a grown man that high? As for climbing, could the World Tree even be climbed? It possesses divinity, penalizing any who dare offend it, even the strongest in Miracle World wouldn't withstand it.

"Wait, Little Yuli, how did you see him?"

Xiya, while pondering the bizarreness of the man hanging on the tree, suddenly thought of another strange point: the person was on a branch ten thousand meters up, their figure nearly obscured by layers of dense leaves, how could an ordinary person spot them through all that?

Before becoming the orphanage head, she was an exceptional archer in the Elf Legion, granting her such remarkable eyesight, but Little Yuli was only eight, how did she manage?

"Because that person is also looking at Little Yuli, Little Yuli is very sensitive to who is watching me."

Little Yuli confidently pointed at the man high up in the distant sky. She felt something odd about his gaze, like being watched by a ferocious beast, but without any sense of danger, leaving her little head full of questions.

"Really? That person…ah!"

Xiya responded to Little Yuli's statement, following along to observe the odd man hanging on the World Tree. She was stunned to see him turn and climb up from the sturdy branch, then leap down.

Jumping down directly from ten thousand meters high, did he believe himself a Saint Tier strongman? At this height, even a Sky Knight falling directly would be in grave danger!

Then, Xiya witnessed an unforgettable scene for the rest of her life…

In the distant sky, the remarkably heroic-looking man descended from the heavens, and during his fall, a pair of pure white wings unfurled from his back, gliding gracefully on the wind like a mythic angel, landing precisely in front of her and Little Yuli.

"Adorable Little Yuli, do you remember Brother Lynn?"

The elegantly landing handsome man tucked in his wings, somehow fished out a colorful candy, and handed it to Little Yuli with a warm smile.

"Huh? Who are you?"

Little Yuli tilted her head, a puzzled expression appearing on her innocent face.
