Chapter 31 - Chapter 25: Terrified

"So it's Ya Ge. What brings you here?"

Seeing Ya Ge, Mo Xun's lips curled into a slight smile as he spoke.

If it were yesterday, even though Ya Ge was pretty, she absolutely wouldn't be qualified for him to show any courtesy.

But just overnight, Ya Ge had joined the Juxing Club—even if it was only the Blue Sea Team—someone even like him couldn't ignore her now.

With his own talent, even though he'd been specially recruited by Great Wall Academy, he wasn't qualified to sign with Juxing Club.

Even after he graduated, he might not be qualified!

As a rich heir, the life he's led and his environment made Mo Xun more mature than most students; he understood very well: for a woman to succeed, it often depends on men.

No one can predict if Ya Ge, now part of Juxing Club, won't hook up with one of the team's main players—just one of those members would demand even his father's respect.

"Mo Xun, just do me a favor and let this go."

Looking at Ji Yu and the others' miserable state, a flash of surprise flickered in Ya Ge's eyes, then she discreetly glanced at Lin Feng.

When did Lin Feng get so strong?

She'd rushed here as soon as she heard about it, worried Lin Feng might be hurt, but never expected to see this instead.

"Okay, I'll give you this favor."

Mo Xun's face wore a thin smile, his usual fierce look now forced into elegance: "Let him apologize to Ji Yu, and that's the end of it."

"Thank you."

Ya Ge let out a sigh of relief and quickly thanked him, then hurried up to Lin Feng, urging him: "Lin Feng, just apologize to Ji Yu. Sometimes a fight is how you get to know someone. Three months and we'll graduate; we'll still be classmates when we run into each other in the future."

Ya Ge blinked, eyes a little anxious—because Lin Feng wasn't reacting at all.

"Gao Hai, can you talk to Lin Feng?"

Ya Ge turned to Gao Hai, but he ignored her. The contempt and rejection in his eyes made Ya Ge pale.

Suddenly, she seemed to understand.

The thing she feared most… was already happening!

"Hurry up. Otherwise this is just going to snowball."

Ya Ge's eyes went a little red; she suppressed her sadness and leaned close to Lin Feng, whispering.

From her point of view, settling this with an apology was thanks to Mo Xun giving her face. Otherwise, with the Elite Martial Arts Club's power, Lin Feng would be doomed.

Lin Feng might be able to beat a Body Cultivator of the Eighth Rank, but could he handle a Ninth Rank?

He might beat one—could he beat ten?

Among students, there are really no rules at all. No such thing as "one-on-one." If Lin Feng truly offends Mo Xun, there'll be no place for him at Jiangxin First Middle School.

Except transferring—there's no way out.

"It's fine. I'll handle it myself," Lin Feng replied.

He understood the girl's goodwill.

But apologize? No need.

This kind of clash… it was always bound to happen.

He needed some time to find his footing at school, but there was no need to grovel.

"Guess some people really don't know when to quit." Mo Xun's face cooled.

"Why are you so stubborn?" Ya Ge was anxious but didn't leave, trying to persuade him, but Lin Feng ignored her.

Seeing this, the faint smile Mo Xun had maintained disappeared entirely.

The Elite Martial Arts Club is the strongest group at Jiangxin First Middle School precisely because they're the strongest—nobody dares mess with them.

Lin Feng's disrespect put him on the spot!

As vice president, if he didn't make Lin Feng pay, he couldn't answer to the club members, and next month's dues would probably drop a lot.

He didn't really care about the money, but it was what marked the club's success.

Thinking of this, Mo Xun stepped toward Lin Feng, but Ya Ge got in his way.

Mo Xun gazed at Ya Ge—her tall figure, perfect body, striking looks, plus the aura of Juxing Club; in this moment, even he felt a flutter of excitement.

No wonder, after he heard about the breakup, Ji Yu lost it like that.

Mo Xun could see the resolve in Ya Ge's eyes—he knew she would absolutely defend Lin Feng today.

Even though they'd broken up, they grew up together—there was still real friendship. If he went for it today, he'd definitely make an enemy of her.

Not to mention Ya Ge's future prospects—offending her now might mean trouble down the road—and for sure, she'd hate him.

Having such an exceptional girl hate him… Mo Xun thought twice; it didn't seem worth it.

"Fine. You win."

Mo Xun shrugged and smiled—but just then, the five boys behind him suddenly charged at Lin Feng.

"You guys…"

Ya Ge had just breathed a sigh of relief when her face changed—she stepped up to intercept, but got brushed aside by the boys.

These five—all at least Body Cultivator Eighth Rank, and two of them Ninth Rank. Ya Ge, being only Sixth Rank, couldn't keep up with their speed.

"Stop them." Ya Ge glared at Mo Xun, her tone stern and pleading.

"Ah."

Mo Xun sighed lightly. "I did you the favor—I won't lay a hand on him. But those guys are Ji Yu's brothers. Ji Yu was humiliated, and you want me to abandon them for your sake? Wouldn't that make me a traitor?"

"You…"

Ya Ge glared at Mo Xun, then turned and jumped into the fray!

Mo Xun did nothing to stop her—just a glance, and a short-haired girl from the crowd rushed out and blocked Ya Ge.

"Move!"

Ya Ge swung a fierce roundhouse kick at the short-haired girl's cheek, but the girl dodged easily. No matter how Ya Ge attacked, she couldn't get through; the short-haired girl kept dodging, blocking her completely from getting near Lin Feng.

Ya Ge stopped, breathing hard, her voice tense: "You really want to stop me?"

The short-haired girl was clearly stronger; Ya Ge knew she couldn't win and had to hope her status made the girl hesitate.

"So what if I do?"

The short-haired girl sneered.

Though she was much stronger than Ya Ge, she hadn't refined a Demon Spirit yesterday and couldn't become a Demon Spirit Master—she envied and even resented Ya Ge.

To her, Ya Ge's talent was average, living in Shore District, and other than good looks, she wasn't special—she couldn't believe just one night had put Ya Ge on the top.

Now, at Jiangxin First Middle School, Ya Ge was every boy's topic of conversation and their idol. Even the boy she liked—Ji Yu—was into Ya Ge. The jealousy was driving her crazy.

If it wasn't for certain scruples and Mo Xun's warning glance, she'd have made Ya Ge suffer already. She wasn't afraid of Ya Ge's revenge—by the time Ya Ge grew strong, she'd already graduated, maybe even left Jiang City.

"Heh."

Seeing Ya Ge's anxious and flustered look, she smirked.

Unable to shake off the girl in front of her, Ya Ge forced down her anger and could only watch Lin Feng in distress.

By now, the fight had begun.

The five boys who'd charged at Lin Feng split apart, forming a half-arc as they rushed him—moving with impressive coordination.

"Gao Hai, stand back."

Lin Feng shoved Gao Hai aside—Gao Hai was too weak, no match for these five, and likely to get hurt.

Once Gao Hai was clear, to everyone's surprise, Lin Feng didn't retreat in the face of a group attack; instead, he lunged forward like an arrow, targeting the closest boy and striking hard.

That boy panicked for a moment—as soon as they clashed, he twisted to avoid Lin Feng's heavy punch, but his right hand reached out lightning-fast, grabbing Lin Feng's shoulder.

"Got him!"

The boy cried with excitement, thinking that no matter how strong Lin Feng was, as long as he held Lin Feng down, the others could swarm him.

Five on one—no contest!

But the very moment the others moved to help, Lin Feng just ignored everything, suddenly stepping in and smashing a headbutt.

"Aah!"

With a bloodcurdling scream, the boy clutched his nose and writhed on the ground, blood dripping everywhere.

"Savage."

All the spectators instinctively stepped back, chills running through them.

From Lin Feng's first move to the boy's scream, it took barely two seconds—as soon as he was grabbed, Lin Feng didn't hesitate at all, he just headbutted him.

His combat experience was terrifying.

"You bastard!"

Seeing his friend hurt, one boy swung his fist at Lin Feng, but Lin Feng dodged—then another rushed up with a vicious roundhouse kick; now, surrounded, Lin Feng could only take the hit head-on.

Staggering back, Lin Feng used the momentum to lash his right hand backward, smashing into the chest of another boy right behind him.

"Crack!"

A sharp sound—then another, even more agonized scream.

The boy's rib was snapped by Lin Feng's blow.

"Aah!"

One boy roared, as if to pump himself up, swinging his fist quickly toward Lin Feng's head.

Lin Feng ducked low, swung his leg up like a whip, and lashed the boy right in the crotch.

Thud.

The boy's face turned chalk-white, frozen in pain, but he didn't scream—instead, clutching his groin, he dropped to his knees, shaking and drenched in cold sweat.

The five-on-one attack collapsed instantly—three were lying on the ground, brutalized.

With Lin Feng's fighting experience, these students who hadn't trained in Martial Skills were no threat to him.

If this were a real life-and-death fight, they'd be dead by now.

The two left were terrified.

They knew Lin Feng was tough, but hadn't imagined he'd be this ruthless.

Not just vicious—his seasoned combat style scared them too.

With only three months left till college entrance exams, an injury now could wreck their scores. Was it worth risking all that just for pride?

"Come on!"

Lin Feng's hair now streaked with a trace of blood—his already cold eyes seemed tinged red.

But that blood wasn't Lin Feng's—it was from the poor soul who got headbutted first.

Seeing the two boys hesitate, Lin Feng slowly walked toward Mo Xun.

"Don't mess with me. Next time, you might not be standing." Lin Feng said calmly.

Mo Xun frowned, looking at the boy in front of him, half a head shorter.

He never imagined it would come to this—at Jiangxin First Middle School, Lin Feng was the first ever to threaten him.

"Pretty strong. But you think you can act tough in front of me with just that?"

Mo Xun sneered.

Lin Feng was strong—even though he hated to admit it, Mo Xun knew Lin Feng was a lot stronger than him.

But so what?

Lin Feng was only Body Cultivator Seventh Rank. He couldn't refine Demon Spirits, couldn't be a Demon Spirit Master. With his grades, he'd never make it into the Nine Elite Joint Schools—he'd never be a powerhouse.

And most important: Lin Feng's family was poor, living in Shore District, with no way to rise up.

The Body Cultivation Realm couldn't train in special Cultivation Techniques, so savage fighting skills could let him beat stronger rivals!

But once you break through Body Cultivation Realm and become a Martial Artist, you can control Spiritual Power, and fighting skills get replaced by true Martial Skills. After becoming a Demon Spirit Master, borrowing power from Demon Beasts, you could crush Martial Artists of the same tier in seconds.

So while Lin Feng was strong now, in Mo Xun's eyes he'd be washed out in a year or two.

By then, any one of them could stomp Lin Feng.

And besides, aside from strength, background and influence are power too.

Mo Xun had plenty of ways to make Lin Feng regret it, even to the point where Lin Feng's whole family would have no place in Jiang City.
