Chapter 80 - Interview with the News Club

"Let's do a simple interview, Vice President!"

During lunch break, two members of the news club came looking for him. With so many people in the classroom, it wasn't very convenient, so Murakami Yuu chose the student council room as the interview location.

Anna Kinomiya accompanied them.

The group sat down at the conference table. Anna Kinomiya served black tea, then sat down beside Murakami Yuu.

"If I remember correctly, wasn't the interview supposed to be after school yesterday afternoon?"

Murakami Yuu asked.

Yesterday, he had forgotten about this because of Anna Kinomiya's unexpected actions. But now that they had come to him proactively today, he recalled that Sakata Gintoki had mentioned this to him.

"That's right. On our way to the student council yesterday, we ran into Ibuki Yuki-san. She told us that today's work had already ended and the student council members were all heading home, so we didn't want to disturb you and changed the interview to today."

The one answering was the news club president, Ono Miyuki. Everyone had already introduced themselves on the way over. She looked very capable, her eyes occasionally revealing a cunning gleam.

"I understand. Well then, let's begin. What do I need to do?"

"Vice President Murakami doesn't need to do anything. Just answer a few of my questions. But before that, we need to take a photo. It will be posted on the news bulletin board along with the interview content."

"You need to take a photo too?"

"Without a photo, students would only know the vice president's name but not what you look like. If they don't know who the vice president is, the interview would be meaningless."

Ono Miyuki said with a smile, then snapped her fingers at her follower behind her.

The follower had a camera hanging around his neck. Upon receiving the signal, he raised the lens toward Murakami Yuu.

Murakami Yuu sighed and straightened his posture, looking at the lens.

"Click."

A subtle shutter sound rang out.

"What are you standing there dazed for? Is the photo okay?"

Ono Miyuki looked at her follower who was confirming the photo through the camera screen and spoke with dissatisfaction.

"It's... okay..."

He answered in a daze, then the next moment, ignoring his club president, stared at Murakami Yuu with fanatical eyes.

"Excuse me, Vice President Murakami! May I use this photo to enter a portrait photography competition?!"

"Are you an idiot?! What are you thinking?! Of course not!"

Ono Miyuki felt somewhat embarrassed.

Murakami Yuu also shook his head as she said, his cool voice carrying a trace of helplessness.

"Let's start the interview quickly. Lunch break isn't long, and I haven't eaten lunch yet."

"Sorry, sorry, we'll start right away."

Ono Miyuki glared at her club member again, hurriedly pulled out her notebook and pen, and looked at Anna Kinomiya who, after entering the student council room, had only been quietly drinking tea without saying much. Her gossipy reporter's heart was ready to stir.

But everything required a gradual approach - she couldn't rush. First slowly relax his guard, then throw out those pre-planned questions at the key moment.

The long-dormant news club would return to students' attention this time! They had to create a big scoop!

"What does Vice President Murakami think of the student council atmosphere?"

"It's great. There aren't many members, but everyone respects each other. Although I've only just joined, I can feel the friendly and harmonious atmosphere here. To be honest, I really like it here."

"I heard that during the election process, Vice President Murakami's voting support rate was far ahead among the candidates, more than double the second place. What are your thoughts on this?"

"I don't have any particular thoughts. Rather, I feel somewhat flattered to be trusted like this by my fellow students. I will take student council work seriously and won't let down my classmates' expectations. I'll strive to bring everyone a more secure and comfortable campus life."

Ono Miyuki lowered her head to record in her notebook. As she expected, it was all perfunctory pleasantries without a single explosive or interesting point. Publishing such bland reporting would definitely not attract attention within the school.

The news club had finally gotten this opportunity - how could they simply let it go like this?

Watching Murakami Yuu and Anna Kinomiya smile at each other, Ono Miyuki spoke the draft she had prepared in advance.

"President Kinomiya's abilities and achievements are obvious to all. She also has very high popularity among students. What do you think of her?"

Murakami Yuu felt this question was somewhat off-topic, but hoping to quickly end the interview activity, he didn't think much about it. Just throw out polite and complimentary words.

"The president is approachable in private, without any airs. Because she herself is so excellent, I only need to follow her instructions on many things, and can also learn some new things in the process. Working together under her is my honor. She is the goal I aspire to."

Anna Kinomiya, caught off guard by this barrage of praise, lowered her head in embarrassment, her face almost touching the table.

"What's Vice President Murakami's secret to maintaining academic performance?"

The questioning continued.

"As long as you read more books and do more problems regularly, it's easy to reach my level."

"Understood. One last question - as the new student council vice president, is there anything you'd like to say to all the teachers and students?"

"There's nothing much to say..."

Murakami Yuu thought for a moment.

"I hope everyone will work hard and not leave themselves with a regretful youth."

"Understood. Thank you for your time, Vice President Murakami."

Ono Miyuki closed her notebook and stood up.

"Well then, we'll take our leave."

At this moment, the door was knocked. After Anna Kinomiya's "Please enter" fell, the door was pushed open. Kiso Yukina walked in carrying a lunch box. The news club duo's gazes locked tightly onto her the moment she entered.

Lowering her head and seeming somewhat uncomfortable, she said "Excuse me," then slowly came before Murakami Yuu.

"I wanted to have lunch with Yuu. I heard from your classmates that you were in the student council room... I'm not disturbing you, am I?"

"It's fine. We just finished here. Let's go together."

"Mm!"

After Murakami Yuu turned back and waved at Anna Kinomiya with a smile, he walked out of the student council room together with Kiso Yukina.

Ono Miyuki watched their departing backs, then looked at Anna Kinomiya's calm expression, and hurriedly pulled her follower to take their leave.

Walking quickly through the hallway corridor, the corners of her mouth turned up, her eyes gradually becoming fanatical.

"Did you smell it?"

"Eh? Smell what?"

The follower was puzzled.

"Hehehe, that scene just now - it has the scent of a scandalous romance.

The unattainable flower and the student council president, plus the most popular among girls, Murakami Yuu... I can't hold it in anymore. When I write this article, it will absolutely explode throughout the school!"

Ono Miyuki licked her lips.

"Our news club has finally caught a big fish."
