Chapter 157 - Chapter 152: I Almost Believed It

The Land of Iron

The Fourth Kazekage of the Sand Village, Rasa, and the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, Uchiha Fugaku, had sent invitations to the other three major ninja villages.

They invited them to attend a summit in the Land of Iron to discuss how to deal with the increasingly dangerous organization known as Akatsuki.

Because the Land of Iron was the only neutral country in the ninja world, the leaders of the Five Great Ninja Villages could meet there without fear of ambush.

Thus, it was the most suitable place for such high-stakes talks.

---

"Father, please slow down," Uchiha Itachi said gently, supporting Uchiha Fugaku as they walked.

At this time, Fugaku had a bandage wrapped around his eyes. He was completely blind. Although he hadn't had time to recover from his injuries, he still rushed from the Land of Fire to the Land of Iron to attend the summit.

"What are you worried about? Just because I can't see doesn't mean I've become weak! I still have my strength—there's no way I'll fall!" Fugaku replied stubbornly.

Ever since he went blind, Itachi had insisted on staying by his side to protect him. Although Fugaku understood that Itachi meant well, being constantly watched wasn't pleasant. Even if it was his son, he still needed some privacy.

---

"Clan leader, you know what to say at the Five Kage Summit, right?" Uchiha Shisui asked in a low voice as they approached the meeting hall.

Fugaku nodded seriously. "Don't worry. Since Obito was captured by Akatsuki while trying to save me, I'll do whatever it takes to convince the other Kage to unite and launch an attack on them."

Hearing this, both Kakashi and Shisui breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

Thankfully, Fugaku still didn't know that Akatsuki's true target had never been him—it had been Uchiha Obito all along.

Over the past few days, they had thoroughly investigated the entire incident. What they discovered left them speechless.

It turned out that the gold mine Obito and Rasa had been digging actually belonged to the Uchiha clan. When Fugaku learned about it, he rushed over with his men.

Unfortunately, they encountered Akatsuki. Mistaking each other for reinforcements of their enemies, a massive battle broke out.

By pure misfortune, Uchiha Fugaku was severely injured in the fight and ended up blinded after overusing his Sharingan.

Karma?

Kakashi and Shisui exchanged glances. They had one unspoken agreement between them:

Uchiha Fugaku must never learn the truth.

---

Soon, they arrived at the meeting venue.

At the entrance, the Commander of the Land of Iron and leader of the samurai, Mifune, was already waiting.

Behind him stood dozens of warriors clad in silver armor, standing solemnly to maintain order.

Seeing Fugaku and his group approach, Mifune quickly stepped forward and greeted them warmly.

"Fifth Hokage—I've heard much about you!"

Although this was Mifune's first time meeting Fugaku, he could easily recognize the man in the bamboo hat as the Hokage.

Noticing the bandage around Fugaku's eyes, he asked, a bit surprised, "Fifth Hokage… were you injured?"

Fugaku sighed. "It's a long story. I won't go into it right now."

Mifune, who had been prepared to listen politely, almost choked on his own saliva.

Mifune: "..."

He gave Fugaku a displeased look. If you don't want to talk about it, just say so. Why keep people in suspense like that?

"Haha... Please, go inside. The other Kage should be arriving soon," Mifune said with a forced smile.

He didn't want to keep talking to this cryptic Hokage. It was honestly exhausting.

"Haha, we'll head in then."

"Please, make yourselves at home."

"Itachi, let's go."

"Yes, Father." Itachi responded and gently helped Fugaku through the doors.

Kakashi and Shisui followed closely behind.

---

Inside the Meeting Hall

As they entered, they saw a round table at the center of the room. Behind it hung five flags labeled "Wind," "Fire," "Earth," "Lightning," and "Water."

Itachi helped Fugaku into the seat marked with the character for "Fire."

By now, several other attendees had already arrived.

---

"Huh? Why is the Hokage of the Leaf Village a blind man?" a rough voice said suddenly.

Everyone turned toward the speaker—it was a burly man.

This was Ai, the Fourth Raikage of the Hidden Cloud Village.

"Haha, reckless Cloud Shinobi never think before speaking. That's why they're always offending people," said a short old man with a smirk.

It was none other than the Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, of the Hidden Stone Village.

"Don't think I won't do something about it, Onoki!" Ai shot up from his chair, glaring at him.

Ai had long harbored a grudge. After all, his father, the Third Raikage, had died in battle against tens of thousands of Rock Shinobi. He'd never forgiven Iwagakure for it.

"Haha, go ahead and try," Onoki replied calmly, unbothered by the threat.

---

Just then, another voice broke the tension.

"It's so lively in here."

The Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, walked in, followed by the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

Seeing the Mizukage enter, Ai and Onoki silently returned to their seats.

Yagura, disappointed that the show had ended early, sighed and sat down without comment.

---

"Apologies for being late!" Rasa, the Fourth Kazekage, entered the room hurriedly.

Now that all the Kage were present, Mifune also entered the hall.

He was curious—why did the Five Kage suddenly want to declare war on the Akatsuki organization?

After all, Akatsuki's operations had always targeted the Five Great Nations. The Land of Iron had never been affected, so their perspective was more neutral.

---

Once everyone was seated, Rasa stood up and spoke solemnly.

"Everyone, I called this summit to discuss how to deal with a rising threat in our world—the Akatsuki organization."

"As you all know, Akatsuki has been extorting our villages, demanding protection money through violence and intimidation. But there's more…"

"What you may not know is that the vaults of our major villages were recently robbed—by Akatsuki's leader, who wields the legendary Rinnegan!"

---

"Damn it! So Akatsuki really was behind the robbery at our Cloud Village vault!" the Fourth Raikage shouted, slamming his hand on the table.

"I was wondering how the money disappeared without a trace... So it was the power of the Rinnegan," said the Third Tsuchikage, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

Everyone in the room nodded in agreement.

They had all heard rumors that the Akatsuki leader possessed the Rinnegan—the legendary eyes of the Sage of Six Paths.

With such power, it wasn't hard to believe he could steal from heavily guarded vaults.

---

Everyone looked as though they had just gained sudden enlightenment—everyone except Shisui, who wore a deeply conflicted expression.

Wait... Did Rasa just dump all the blame on Nagato so casually?

---

"Shisui, this explains it! Our vault must've been robbed by the Akatsuki leader too!" Kakashi said, slapping his thigh in realization.

Shisui: "..."

If he hadn't known the truth… he might have believed it too.
