We set off for a shop, but it wasn't for dolls; it was for sewing supplies.
Then, Ren started sewing, focusing intently, and made the first doll after about a quarter of an hour.
"Alright, I'm done. What do you think?"
I looked at the doll and found that it resembled me, but in a strange way. "Is this supposed to be me?"
Ren replied, "Yes, it's you."
I laughed. "Okay, but why is my head a basketball and my feet look like someone whose feet are stuck in rocks?"
She answered, "I just found it fun. You're athletic, and I love basketball, so yes, that's your head. And your feet are petrified because, like your mind, you focus on sports and forget your girlfriend."
"Ha! Forget you? How could I do that when you are always in front of me every second? And if I spend time training, it's only so I don't get preoccupied thinking about you and come bother you."
Ren smiled, "You can come over anytime. And now, I'll make my doll."
It took her almost half an hour.
"I'm done."
"Why did you take all this time? You didn't take this long for my doll."
"Sorry, I was just drawing myself."
I looked at the doll and saw that its heart was stitched with black thread and had some red lines. Above it was a symbol of a person I didn't recognize. The doll's eyes looked covered, and one hand was holding the hand of another, bigger person.
"Ren, why did you draw this?"
Ren was silent for a moment and wiped her eyes. "This is me before I met you—an empty heart. But when I met you, that heart started to fill with many feelings. Those veiled eyes are the fear I always hide. As for the reason for my fear, the answer lies in this hand. It's not a hand holding the doll; it's the hand of a dear person, my grandfather. When I was little, he was always with me. We used to make dolls. We didn't sell them for money, but for a laugh, as my grandfather would give them to children. This is my complicated personality. I don't know the right time, because if I found that time, I would tell you many hidden things."
I simply hugged Ren and patted her head. "It's okay. Whenever you want to talk, just tell me."
We hugged for a while, then we pulled away and went to a clothing store.
Ren was choosing for me. She chose a dark blue suit with a white inner shirt and blue trousers.
Then she chose for herself. Well, she chose a lot, then rejected them, then took a white dress, then threw it down. I don't understand what's up with girls when it comes to fashion, but she finally chose a black dress that made her look like she was sparkling under the light.
"What do you think?"
"Beautiful."
"Thank you! And now we'll take a picture."
We went to a photographer. The first picture was of the two of us, a normal one. The second, each of us held our doll. And the third was a picture of only the two dolls.
"Alright, now that we've taken the pictures, shouldn't we bring the equipment, Kaito?"
"Oh, you're so boring! Don't you know that everything can be bought online now?"
"So, you bought it online and made us go out?"
"Yes! Didn't you say you needed a rest? Don't you feel rested now?"
"I feel rested." Kaito smiled. "You're right. I feel rested, and I enjoyed the date. But what time is it now?"
"It's 11:20."
"That's bad! We'll miss the train. We have to hurry!"
Kaito and Ren ran towards the station, but shortly before they arrived, Ren got tired.
"Kaito, stop! I can't keep going! I'm tired!"
"Come on, Ren, it's not far!"
"I can't, but you can. Don't you play sports? Yes! So carry me."
Kaito looked at her. "Are you crazy? Do you know the station is still far?"
"Kaito, please! I'm tired. Put these muscles to good use, or can't you carry me?"
Kaito got angry, picked her up, and ran with her. Ren screamed, "Yes! That's my man! Run!" Ren raised her hand as if flying in the air.
Kaito and Ren reached the station. Kaito was exhausted, but what made it worse was that he saw the train leaving.
"Ren, we're late! What do we do now?"
"It's simple! We wait for the next train, so come on, let's sit."
Kaito and Ren sat down. Kaito spoke, "Hey Ren, the train will arrive at 1:00 AM. Yes, and we start this project every morning. I was thinking of canceling the idea of waking up early tomorrow and delaying it a little."
Ren hit him. "Impossible! We're about to complete the project. Stopping halfway makes the work difficult to finish. Also, if I don't wake you up early tomorrow, my brother will."
"Your brother? Is he coming tomorrow?"
"Yes! That's good news! He always travels and visits us from time to time."
"Why do you miss your brother so much?"
"It's simple. Because your brother is good at business and knows how to make money."
"Are you his girlfriend? No! Then don't talk about money. When I finish my studies, I will also work, earn money, and travel to many countries."
"And forget me?"
"No, of course you'll be with me. After I finish university, we will work a little, and then we will get married."
"You're thinking about marriage? I'm thinking about having one or two children! And guess what? I'm thinking about Misaaki and me living next to each other so our children can play together."
"I don't like this idea. Why, Kaito?"
"Simply because it's Misaaki! How do you know what her children will be like?"
Ren laughed. "Do you mean that when she says your response time is slower than a sloth's, she's right? Yes!"
Ren looked at him. "Honestly, I agree with her."
Kaito said, "I didn't ask for your opinion on what she said." Ren hit Kaito.
The train arrived, and they boarded the train.
