Jura had already closed the distance to the man in black. Yet the cloaked figure only gave a faint smile, showing no signs of fleeing. It was unclear what he was planning.
Jura remained on high alert—this enemy was a complete unknown.
"You're strong. That interests me," the man in black sneered with a chilling, eerie laugh that echoed under the blood-red sky, making it all the more disturbing.
"Take this! Multi-Pillar Rain!"
As soon as Jura spoke, a series of stone pillars erupted around the man in black. A thunderous rumbling followed as they crashed down on their target.
Dust and debris exploded outward, but when it cleared, the man in black stood there—completely unscathed.
"You actually dared to attack me? What a foolish move," he said coldly, disdain flickering in his eyes.
"That's impossible… I hit him dead-on!" Jura stared in disbelief at the unharmed figure. He couldn't understand it.
"Since that didn't work... then take this: Judgment of Stone – Tyrant's Shatter!"
Jura clasped his hands together, unleashing a golden light from his body as the surrounding magical energy was completely drained.
Countless rocks formed around the man in black, glowing with intense yellow light. Then, in a blinding flash—
BOOM!
A massive explosion blew a gaping hole in the side of West Hill. Even from afar, Noel could feel the sheer pressure of the magic.
So this is the power of a Ten Wizard Saint? That's insane… He stared in awe at the raw display of strength.
"He didn't even try to dodge. He must be underestimating me!" Jura said with some relief, watching the explosion's aftermath.
Logically speaking, no one could take that head-on without being at least critically injured.
But as the dust settled, the man in black still stood there—completely unharmed.
Jura's jaw dropped. His eyes bulged. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Is this guy even human?
"You look surprised. I love that look on people's faces," the man in black said with sick amusement.
Jura quickly regained his composure. There had to be some trick. This enemy must have a weakness—he just hadn't found it yet.
"Triple Magic: Heavenly Firefall!"
Three red magic circles appeared in the sky, glowing with fierce light. From them, waves of celestial flames began to rain down.
"Rock Mountain," Jura replied with a slight scoff. This spell could be blocked easily—though handling its spread was trickier with the townspeople nearby.
A golden glow flashed, and a mountain-sized wall of rock rose like a divine guardian, shielding them from the flames.
From his position, Noel could see it.
Is he changing the landscape? he muttered.
"But seriously… he's way too strong."
I'd better speed things up myself.
"Swift Wind."
In a blur of blue-green light, Noel darted between the rising stone walls like a streak of lightning.
He didn't dare get too close to the front lines. The rain of fire from above was still falling, though Jura's rock barrier absorbed it all.
Once the firelight dimmed, Noelle moved ahead and saw Jura facing off with the man in black.
He didn't rush in. Instead, he hid and watched carefully—waiting for the enemy to expose a weakness. One clean shot might end it.
But then—
"You behind the wall—come out. I know you're there."
The man's voice was calm, but firm.
Noel's eyes widened in disbelief. How!? He hadn't made a sound or exposed himself. His stealth technique was flawless—how could he have been discovered?
"Not coming out? That's fine too," the man in black chuckled darkly.
He can't possibly see me, Noel told himself. He's bluffing.
"Quad Magic: Stone Detonation."
The entire surface of West Hill, including the stone walls Jura had created, suddenly lit up with magic inscriptions.
One by one—BOOM!
Massive explosions erupted across the terrain.
Noel, though hidden behind cover, sensed danger and darted away just in time. He avoided the blast—but debris still cut him.
He might really be able to see me, Noel thought grimly. No point hiding now.
He dropped his stealth spell, letting himself become visible.
"Your concealment was nearly flawless. Even I almost missed it," Jura said with genuine admiration.
"You'd make an excellent assassin."
"No thanks. That's not exactly a glamorous profession," Noel replied dryly.
He had encountered assassin guilds before—though they were officially sanctioned in certain kingdoms, answering directly to monarchs for rooting out threats. Most still operated under the radar, often fronting as other businesses.
In fact, an assassin clan once approached him for potion supply deals, but he'd turned them down due to low production capacity.
"Things just got more interesting," the man in black grinned.
"Be careful," Jura warned. "This guy is strange. No matter what I do, he's completely unaffected."
Noel nodded. "Got it."
"Fivefold Magic: Thunderclap."
Above their heads, an ominous red thundercloud formed. Lightning coiled within it, flashing violently.
Moments later, thick purple bolts came crashing down.
"Iron Rock Wall," Jura commanded.
But the moment the wall was formed—it shattered under the pressure. Debris rained over the two mages.
"Gale Shield!"
Without panic, Noel summoned a wind barrier, its soft teal hue enveloping both him and Jura.
Still, looking up at the descending lightning, he couldn't help but feel uneasy.
The roaring thunder was deafening—they had to cover their ears to endure it.
CRASH!
The purple lightning surged down, devouring the earth in a frenzy of destruction. Its force slammed into Noel's wind shield, which began to glow purple under the pressure.
But it held.
The ground, however, was left cracked and scorched, fractured like shattered glass.
Noel exhaled in relief. Good thing I acted quickly. Otherwise, we'd be charred to a crisp… and not the tasty kind.
