Morning arrived quietly over the Beastridge camp, with pale sunlight slowly finding its way between the enormous mountain peaks and spilling across the wooden buildings that had been constructed along the valley. A thin layer of mist still lingered close to the ground, drifting between the trees and disappearing whenever the warmth of the sunlight touched it, while the sounds of the camp gradually grew louder as researchers, guards, and students began preparing for the day's work.
Luca woke earlier than he expected.
For a few moments, he remained still beneath the blanket, staring at the unfamiliar wooden ceiling above him while his mind slowly adjusted to his surroundings. Then the memories of the previous day returned, followed by the realization that he was no longer at Arcadia Academy.
