The building looked normal from the outside.
The walls were intact. The windows were unbroken. There was no sign of forced entry, no indication that anything was amiss.
But the scent that wafted from within told a different story entirely.
Blood...So much blood.
The Maiden of Fate landed first, her face pale. Nadia arrived a moment later, and the Maiden of Fate immediately turned to her.
"Stay here." She said, her voice tight with urgency. "Keep the children here. Don't let them see."
Nadia nodded, gathering the little ones close.
Even they could smell the blood. Even they knew something terrible had happened.
The remaining Battle Angels entered the police station.
And the moment they crossed the threshold, the horror hit them like a physical blow.
"Gods above..." Yelena whispered, her hand flying to her mouth. "What happened here?"
The Maiden of War, who had waded through rivers of blood and climbed mountains of corpses, looked away.
"It's a massacre."
