"Mama!" Charlotte burst into Yelena's study without knocking, as she always did. "I require your immediate attention!"
Yelena looked up from the reports she had been reviewing.
Back then, she had countless responsibilities.
But none of that mattered when her daughter came calling.
"What is it, Charlotte?"
"I have decided that I want a pony."
"A pony?"
"Yes! A magical pony! With wings. And a horn. I want it to be purple!"
Yelena set down her pen. "Charlotte, we've discussed this. You can't have a winged unicorn pony just because you want one."
"Why not?"
"Because they don't exist."
"Then make one exist! You're a Battle Angel! You can do anything!"
"Being a Battle Angel doesn't mean I can create mythical creatures out of thin air."
Charlotte crossed her arms, her expression one of supreme displeasure. "I think you're just not trying hard enough."
"Charlotte—"
"I'm going to tell Aunt Fauna that you're being unreasonable. She'll get me a pony. She's nice."
