Two days. That's all that was left before the big match. Two days before Nash would step back onto that court and face the assholes who threw him away like a piece of trash a few months ago.
Practice for the evening had just finished, one of the last real team sessions before the big day, and you could already feel the tension in the air. The whole vibe felt heavy, like something huge was about to go down.
Most of the girls were heading to the locker rooms, laughing and arguing, looking exhausted but in a good way.
Nash hung back for a second, grabbing the last few loose balls. That's when Rei walked up to him. She had a towel around her neck and was still panting a bit from the workout.
"Good practice," she said, stopping right next to him.
"Yeah," Nash replied, tucking a ball under his arm. "We're ready."
Usually, Rei would just leave, but this time she lingered. She looked a bit hesitant, which was weird because she's usually the most confident person in the room.
