Suddenly, the world outside changed.
The morning light that had been filtering through the windows vanished in an instant. The sky beyond the barrier turned pitch black, as if night had forcibly returned. Thick, oppressive clouds rolled in at unnatural speed, swallowing the violet sky whole. Thunder rumbled low and deep, vibrating through the wooden walls of the cabin like the growl of something ancient and furious. The air grew colder, heavier, carrying the metallic scent of impending rain and something far worse — the faint, sickly-sweet smell of corrupted blood.
