Veronica's eyes first landed on the wet floor beside me, and then moved toward my face, the one which I had wiped clean with my sleeve earlier.
"...Is this a good timing?"
She asked in a rather slow voice.
And I do not know why, but I hesitated.
"Y-Yeah, totally! Please, come inside."
I pulled the corner of my rug over the wet surface as I welcomed her in.
She walked in, avoiding my eyes at first, walking past me and taking the empty place beside the couch where her little brother was sleeping.
'...'
She took her sweet time arriving here. The moon is almost out now, and it is about to get dark.
'I wonder what she and my father talked about all this time?'
Noticing my face, Veronica spoke up.
"Did you find anything?"
'Well, plenty!'
I wish I could just say that out loud. But I restrained myself, because this situation is way more complex than anything I could rehearse on the spot.
I have to choose my words carefully—
"So you did find something. That is good."
