Chapter 394 - Chapter 394: Stopping the Self-Destruction

Axis's words rendered Kratos speechless. Were all Saiyans possessed of the same character as his father?

Surely not all of Father's kin are battle maniacs like him, Kratos thought. A sense of foreboding took root in his heart.

From childhood to adulthood, Kratos had never seen his father, and his mother had remained in a coma. By the time they finally met, he had already come of age and become a Primarch in his own right, leading the hundreds of thousands of Astartes of the Golden Legion. He fought for the glory of the Imperium, the glory of his father, and the honor of humanity.

It was only after his father's return that Kratos met him for the first time. Upon getting to know him, he discovered that his father's personality was actually quite simple.

He was simple to the point of being a thorough battle maniac. After his mother awoke, she spoke privately with him about the matter. According to her, his father had once explained that most of his race, the Saiyans, shared a similar temperament.

Some were even more extreme than him. Axis had once told Kasha that his own personality was considered relatively normal among Saiyans.

"Relax, boy. This is the Saiyan way of greeting, commit it to memory. We fight, then we drink our fill. There is no problem that cannot be resolved in such a manner," Axis said, turning to smile at his son.

Since they had arrived in the Dragon Ball universe, he was determined to cross hands with Goku no matter what. After all, this was the man who first transformed into a Super Saiyan in the truest sense, the legendary warrior of the original timeline.

While other original characters were mere plot devices, the moment Goku first transformed into a Super Saiyan under Toriyama's pen forty years ago was a shock that shook the anime world.

Therefore, having arrived in this universe, Axis felt compelled to fight this protagonist. Furthermore, as a Saiyan himself, the blood in Axis's veins was already boiling with anticipation.

There was also an iron rule in the world of Dragon Ball: any Saiyan who appeared in the narrative inevitably clashed with Sun Goku.

Axis felt he could not allow himself to fall behind; he had to become a powerful enemy facing Goku, for that was the greatest respect one could offer a protagonist.

He had trained his power for hundreds of years longer than Goku and possessed the constitution of the Legendary Super Saiyan. In terms of raw strength, he certainly held the upper hand.

For that reason, Axis resolved not to utilize any divine power when fighting Kakarot.

"Do as you please, Father. Though truthfully, I have no interest in battling those who are not my enemies," Kratos replied.

Truly, in certain aspects, he had inherited his father's combat gifts, but he completely lacked the insatiable Saiyan lust for battle. Or perhaps, under the Emperor's tutelage, that warlike nature had simply never surfaced.

"You are my son; how can you not participate? Let me tell you, that fellow named Kakarot has a son named Sun Gohan. I will fight the father; you will fight the son," Axis insisted.

He had long held a grudge against Sun Gohan. Despite possessing the highest potential among all Saiyans, Gohan had degraded into a weakling by the end of the story. If that boy had dedicated himself to training, his potential would have far outstripped Sun Goku's.

In this regard, his own son, Kratos, was far superior.

Although Kratos also disliked unnecessary conflict, he had never neglected his training. This was likely due to the martial culture of the Warhammer universe.

"I understand, Father," Kratos nodded. If it was merely a sparring match, it did not matter, provided it was not a duel to the death.

Just as the father and son were conversing, Axis's expression shifted abruptly. He sensed a terrifying energy threatening to annihilate the planet beneath them.

"Father, this planet is being destroyed. Has something happened?" Kratos asked, his expression darkening.

"Yes. The planet is indeed on the verge of destruction. As for the cause, it is surely my kinsman acting recklessly again. Let us fly into space first," Axis said.

Axis had just sensed the Ki of Sun Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. Their energies were immensely powerful; Goku and Vegeta even bore traces of Divine Ki, suggesting they had already attained the Super Saiyan Blue form.

Coupled with the presence of Emperor Frieza, Axis deduced exactly which point in the timeline they occupied.

It was the "Resurrection 'F'" arc. Frieza had trained bitterly for four months, mastered the Golden Frieza form, and came for revenge, only to fail miserably.

Being a Saiyan, recklessness was inevitable. Sun Goku had likely hesitated to kill Frieza just as he did in the original timeline, merely defeating him and leaving Frieza an opening to self-destruct.

"Father, we can prevent this," Kratos stated rapidly. "Though I cannot draw upon the psychic energies of the Warp here, my own Psychic power remains. I can reach the location, bind the source of the explosion, and then suspend it using chronal technology."

The Imperium of Man was equipped with a vast array of chronal weaponry. Some were relics recovered from the Dark Age of Technology, while others were designs reverse-engineered from Necron wargear.

Freezing time within a specific area around a target and combining it with his Psychic power would make stopping this explosion a simple task.

For their first meeting, he intended to leave a good impression on his father's kin. Although he was cut off from the Warp, the powerful Psychic power honed through years of psychic practice remained.

Furthermore, after mastering the energy of Ki in this universe, Kratos discovered he could use Ki to drive his abilities without any conflict.

Axis considered this for a few seconds, then nodded. Together, they flew rapidly toward the target.

At that moment, Emperor Frieza let out a manic laugh, his entire body engulfed in brilliant golden light.

"Damn it! Frieza, you bastard! I already gave you a way out!" Goku roared in anger.

"Oh ho ho ho! Sun Goku, your benevolence is your weakness. You should never show mercy to an enemy. You gave me the chance to self-destruct. If I cannot have my revenge, I will make you suffer in agony," Frieza sneered.

"Damned Kakarot, you idiot."

Nearby, Vegeta was furiously cursing Sun Goku. The fool never knew when to deliver the killing blow, always assuming the fight was over once the opponent was beaten. It was the same during the Cell Games, the same with Majin Buu, and now history was repeating itself.

The Prince completely ignored the fact that he was alive today only because Goku had once pleaded with Krillin to spare him.

Standing to the side, the Angel Whis maintained his composed expression. To someone of his level, none of this mattered.

Even if the universe were destroyed, it was of no consequence. As for a single planet, a simple wave of his staff could reverse time.

However, it seemed there was no need for him to intervene. Just as Frieza was about to detonate, a strange golden light suddenly enveloped the tyrant.

Immediately following, a beam of blue energy struck Frieza, freezing him in mid-air just as he began his self-destruction. The explosive energy halted in its tracks.

"W-what happened?" Goku asked, his face full of surprise.

"Do not be alarmed. I'm just here to assist you. I have used chronal technology to temporarily seal the time around him. Now, I will employ Psychic power to transport him into the cosmic void. That way, his explosion will not harm this planet," Kratos explained as he landed before Sun Goku.

"Ah, is that so? Thank you for the help! I thought the Earth was done for. That scared me to death," Goku said, pleasantly surprised, scratching his head with a naive smile.

Kratos nodded at Goku. He then thrust both palms toward the sky, wrapping his Psychic power around the source of the explosion. With a shout, Kratos surged his power, launching Frieza directly out of Earth's atmosphere.

Bound by the time stasis device, Frieza wore an expression of utter unwillingness, but the tyrant was powerless to act. Within mere minutes, Kratos's Psychic power had pushed him far beyond Earth, reaching a safe distance near Jupiter before the delayed explosion finally detonated.

In his final moments, Frieza let out a roar of indignation, cursing the Saiyan race one last time.

Damn it all! These wild monkeys always ruin my plans!

Axis did not watch his son but instead focused his gaze on the Angel Whis standing nearby.

Axis knew of Whis's existence and could see him, but even when mobilizing his God Ki, he could not sense Whis's presence at all. It was fascinating. As an opponent, Whis was far more compelling than any Dark King or Chaos God.

"Hello! My name is Sun Goku. Are you a Saiyan too? What is your name?" Goku flew over to Axis and asked. Vegeta soon followed, landing beside him.

"My name is Axis. Like you, I am a Saiyan. I fled Planet Vegeta at the age of six, just before Frieza's attack, and thus I survived," Axis replied.

"Oh! Axis, you feel incredibly strong!" Goku nodded, looking at Axis with excitement. This guy was ridiculously strong; he would be an excellent opponent.

"Your strength is not lacking either. Shall we spar? You and Vegeta should attack me together," Axis proposed.

"Tch. I refuse to team up with Kakarot! If we fight, it will be one-on-one," the proud Vegeta scoffed coldly.

"That might be a problem," Axis said. "Fighting me alone will not be enough."
