Chapter 423 - Chapter 423: The Grand Supreme Kai

"Father-in-law, the Fruit of the Gods," Axis said softly.

Without another word, he gently lifted the divine fruit and presented it to the Emperor.

The Emperor nodded toward Axis. He had waited for this fruit for over five hundred years. Having sat upon the Golden Throne since the end of the Great Crusade, he could finally rise.

Unlike his counterpart in another reality, who sat in agonizing silence for ten thousand years only to have his body and consciousness usurped by the Dark King, his fate had been rewritten.

When the golden fruit, laden with vast divine life energy and catalyzed by the power of the Grand Minister, touched the Emperor's lips, time seemed to freeze.

In the next moment, the fruit's flesh dissolved like a stream of pure light. Without the need for mastication, it transformed into an indescribable, peerless torrent of creation that surged into the Emperor's physical form and soul.

A low, heavy hum vibrated through space. It wasn't just Holy Terra that felt it; the very fabric of the Sol System groaned under an unimaginable weight.

The Golden Throne erupted in a blinding brilliance that eclipsed anything seen before. This radiance no longer merely symbolized raw psychic willpower; it carried the sacred pressure of Life and Creation.

The Emperor's metamorphosis began. Shimmering golden light enveloped his body. Every member of the Adeptus Custodes present, including Captain-General Constantin Valdor, knelt upon the floor to witness the transfiguration of the Master of Mankind.

Axis watched with piercing clarity, perceiving the literal earth-shaking changes occurring within the Emperor. His original form, forged through the pinnacle of ancient genetic manipulation and bio-engineering, had been powerful but ultimately mortal.

Under the influence of the divine fruit, that body melted away like snow under a summer sun. Every cell was dismantled in an instant and reconstructed under the laws of pure life energy and the authority of creation.

He was no longer a being of mere flesh and blood. He was becoming a Divine, woven from the purest crystals of divine power and the authority of life.

The Golden Throne became the forge for this divine ascension. Countless golden runes flowed across and branded themselves into the Emperor's newborn skin; these were the physical manifestations of the Shinjin Spark, the essence of a Supreme Kai.

The Emperor's soul, massive enough to withstand the storms of the Immaterium and shield the tides of human souls for centuries, now underwent an unprecedented sublimation.

The billions of fragments of his will, which had been scattered throughout the Golden Throne's psychic choir, the Astronomican, and the front lines of the war against Chaos, were forcibly recalled like a hundred rivers returning to the sea.

The core of his consciousness, once fractured by the interference of the Warp, was unified the moment his divine status was solidified.

His soul ceased to be mere mental energy. It transformed into a brilliant Heart of a Supreme Kai, radiating the light of creation.

It merged perfectly with his new body, leaving no gap between the physical and the spiritual. The soul-shattering pain that had plagued him for centuries vanished instantly.

At that moment, the Emperor completely severed his connection to the "Dark King." Axis remained unaware that when the Grand Minister had first arrived in this world, he had encountered the slumbering entity known as the Dark King.

Without hesitation, the Grand Minister had used his power to erase that cosmic cancer, the universe's greatest blight, thereby permanently removing the threat from the Emperor's soul.

Now, not a trace of the Dark King remained. There was only the hope of humanity, the power of faith, and the primal energies of life and godhood.

With the total transformation of body and soul, the divinity of the Grand Supreme Kai awakened. The Emperor's perception instantly shattered the confines of the Golden Throne and the shackles of the material universe.

His senses expanded infinitely. He perceived the creative brilliance of the two newly ascended Supreme Kais on the Domain of Life.

Even before this, the Emperor had been significantly more powerful than the Aeldari goddesses, standing as an equal to the Chaos Gods.

Now, he "heard" the screams of the remaining demons in the Warp as they reacted to the burgeoning concept of a Demon Realm. He "touched" the life pulses of countless worlds across the material universe. The authority to create life, shape stars, appoint deities, and maintain cosmic order and balance became second nature to him, etched into the depths of his soul.

This power was vast yet gentle, worlds apart from his previous methods of using raw willpower and psychic might to forcibly govern and combat chaos. This was the higher-dimensional authority of a cosmic administrator.

The hum of the Golden Throne reached a crescendo. The mighty device that had bound the Emperor for five centuries let out a final, metallic cry before his new divine majesty.

The ancient technology and psychic runes that composed the throne dissolved like a sandcastle in a rising tide. It was no longer a cage or an instrument of torture; its function was rewritten by divine energy, turning it into a pure Divine Seat, a throne symbolizing the authority of the Grand Supreme Kai.

The Golden Throne no longer bound the Emperor; instead, it became an extension of his power.

The golden light began to recede, losing its blinding edge and becoming warm and vast. The figure sitting upon the new throne was entirely different. The Emperor's body had shifted to that of a normal man, roughly two meters in height.

He slowly opened his eyes. Those eyes, which had once held endless wisdom, sorrow, and iron resolve, were now as deep as the cosmos itself. Within his golden pupils, galaxies seemed to be born and extinguished, depicting the endless cycle of life and civilization.

The Master of Mankind remained as majestic as ever. He reached out a hand and spread his fingers. Without a drop of psychic energy, and with only a single thought, a speck of light appeared above his palm. It expanded and spun rapidly.

Dust, nebulae, molten rock, oceans, and continents formed in an instant. A miniature, perfectly structured, and vibrant proto-planet was born and evolved within his hand. This was the direct manifestation of a Supreme Kai's power to create worlds.

With this divine power, the Emperor could now create planets at will and use his essence to evolve a mortal life form into a Planetary God.

"Welcome back, Neoth," Axis said with a smile, greeting the Emperor.

The Emperor nodded toward Axis in acknowledgment. He felt the life-pulse of the miniature star in his palm, the vast divine power flowing within him, and the unprecedented freedom of his soul.

He stood up slowly, his movements fluid and natural. The Golden Throne was now merely a tool attuned to his heart.

He turned his gaze toward Axis, and when he spoke, his voice sounded like the echoes of the universe's creation, gentle but saturated with power. He tossed the miniature planet into a distant orbit within the Solar System, where it would wait to be discovered by humanity in the future.

"Thank you, Axis. I never imagined I would see such a day. My destiny has been utterly changed. I was meant to sit upon that throne until the end of eternity, yet you changed everything. I only had to sit there for five hundred years because of you," the Emperor said.

The Master of Mankind was overwhelmed with emotion. When he had first ascended the throne, he believed the chances of his descent were non-existent.

Axis had given him hope, though at the time, that hope seemed like searching for a needle in a vast ocean. He had expected it to take ten millennia, yet Axis continually brought surprises.

The sudden arrival of the Grand Minister had allowed the fruit of the Divine Tree to mature early, and the presence of the two goddesses of life had perfected the tree's growth.

The God Fruit had functioned perfectly, merging his soul and divine body into a true, living deity with a physical form.

He had gained the power of creation he had long dreamed of. Compared to destruction, he had always wished for his power to be filled with life and infinite possibilities.

During this evolution, the Emperor also noticed a curious phenomenon: the Dark King, who had been part of his potential self, had vanished completely.

Though Axis had previously wounded that entity and sent it into a deep slumber, it was the Grand Minister's arrival that had truly eradicated it.

"The Dark King is indeed gone. To be honest, the Grand Minister did us a few favors after arriving in our world," Axis said with a light laugh.

The universe in this timeline was finally safe. As for the Dark King in the other universe, Axis would deal with it in time.

"Axis… I can feel it." The Emperor paused, his gaze sweeping over Captain-General Valdor, who was frozen in shock and on the verge of total prostration.

He then looked through the dome of the Imperial Palace, seeing the entire galaxy and the micro-structures of the universe. "I feel life. I feel creation. I feel a new order belonging to this universe."

He clenched his hand, and the starburst of the miniature planet merged back into his body.

"Now, it is time to fulfill the duties of the Grand Supreme Kai. Axis, let us begin. We shall create the Demon Realm and the Underworld for this universe. We shall bring order to chaos and grant the soul a path to reincarnation."

The Emperor, or rather, the Grand Supreme Kai Neoth, officially stepped down from the Golden Throne. The darkest shackles of the Imperium of Man were broken.

A new era of divine order had begun with the birth of the Grand Supreme Kai. The blueprint he and Axis had drawn would fundamentally reshape the future of the galaxy.

The Primarchs currently on Holy Terra also sensed the Emperor's awakening and rushed to the throne room.

Axis had already used the fruit of the Tree of Might to upgrade these Primarchs to the level of Warp-entities.

They were far more sensitive to the Emperor's changes than any mortal could be.

Among them, some were overjoyed, while others looked troubled. The Imperial Truth the Emperor had once promulgated now seemed like a forgotten relic.

"Congratulations, Father!" one cried.

"Humanity shall enter a new chapter," said another.

"My children, I am resigning from my position as the Emperor of Mankind. From this day forward, I am no longer your Emperor. I am the Grand Supreme Kai, Neoth." The Emperor looked over his sons and spoke slowly.

Now that he had risen from the throne with the authority of the Grand Supreme Kai, he had a more vital mission: the creation of planets and life, and the maintenance of universal order.

"Father, what do you mean? Why? Does this mean you will no longer lead humanity?" Magnus asked.

"Father, you have just awakened. You should return to the Imperium, to your people, and continue to lead us in a new Great Crusade so that the glory of Man may cover the entire galaxy," Roboute Guilliman added.

"Great Father, we beg you to reconsider," the other Primarchs said, kneeling in unison.

"It is not that I am unwilling to protect the human race," Neoth replied, "but I have more important matters to attend to. Mankind will fare well enough under your leadership."

Upon becoming the Grand Supreme Kai, his perspective had shifted to a cosmic scale.

Humanity was his parent race, but with his ascension, the ancient psychic imprints left by the prehistoric shamans, the command to protect humanity at all costs, had vanished. He was no longer bound by that primal directive.

However, he still loved his species deeply. He would continue to protect them, but his concern was now for their overall prosperity rather than their daily administration.

He knew that if humanity lived forever under his shadow, they would never transcend or reach their potential. In any case, humanity was already the undisputed master of the galaxy.

The Primarchs were stunned. They had expected that the Emperor's newfound power would signal a new wave of conquest, reigniting the Imperial war machine after centuries of stagnation. They realized that their father had truly changed.

"Father, do you mean to say that we, the Primarchs, should also retire into the shadows?" Rogal Dorn asked. If so, how was this different from the descent of the Dark King? They desired his leadership above all else.

"Why would I ask you to go into hiding?" Neoth said. "You are the protectors of the human race. When humanity eventually steps beyond to explore the wider universe, they will still need you. You do not understand, my children. Currently, almost everything beyond the borders of our galaxy was shattered by the ancient War in Heaven."

He continued, "My task now is to repair this universe, to create more habitable planets and more star systems. The observable universe spans ninety-three billion light-years, but the actual universe is far larger.

"Our Milky Way is a mere hundred thousand light-years across. Our universe is broken, even partitioned by certain forces. The entire galaxy has been turned into a feeding ground. Axis and I will purge all of it."

"You shall become the guardian deities of the human race. If you wish to continue the Great Crusade, I shall not stop you. I will designate the entire space within ten million light-years of the Milky Way as human territory. You may crusade for tens of thousands of years if you wish."

This universe was far larger than they had explored. His and Axis's current priority was to establish the Underworld and the Demon Realm to fix the cosmic order.

After that, repairing the fractured universe would be a gargantuan project, likely taking hundreds of millions of years.

He would not forget humanity, and while he would not govern them, he would ensure they were the masters of the universe, not just one galaxy.

The Emperor had once considered elevating all of humanity to a god-race, but their population was too vast.

Axis had suggested a new system instead: a path of ascension. Powerful humans could become planetary-level gods through training and trial.

Each planet might have its own divine hierarchy. The Primarchs themselves could serve as "Kais" for entire sectors or galaxies.

"We obey your command, Master of Mankind," the Primarchs shouted in unison, kneeling.

Over the following months, the entire Imperium celebrated the return of the Emperor. Though he had stepped down as their direct ruler, he remained their protector.

On Holy Terra, the new Grand Supreme Kai stood alongside Axis, who radiated the power of a God of Destruction.

Together, they looked beyond the veil of the physical universe toward the Warp, a realm the Grand Minister had "cleaned," but which remained inherently chaotic. The first step to healing the universe was to split the Warp into two distinct realms.

"The Warp is the source of filth and a cradle for chaos. Though those four are gone, it remains a mess," the Emperor noted, his voice echoing with the authority of his office, though it now carried a creator's mercy. "The entities within must be reshaped, not merely erased. As you said, Axis, we need two new realms."

Axis nodded as purple destruction energy gathered in his palm like a dancing, destructive star. "Chaos must end, but destruction is not the final goal. The power of the God of Destruction can divide the Immaterium. The Demon Realm will be the final destination for all malice and evil thoughts, a grand arena.

"The Underworld will be a pure place for the rest and reincarnation of souls. Father-in-law, define the framework with your authority, and I shall use my destruction to sever the old chaotic tethers."

"Let us begin," the Emperor said.

He raised his hands, and the halo of the Supreme Kai behind his head shone brilliantly. A vast tide of creative power surged forth like a golden tsunami, rushing toward the boundaries of the Warp.
