-CHAPTER 20-

-FUSHIGURO MEGUMI POV-

"You need to learn how to throw off your opponent's Megumi. Your use of CE reinforcement makes it very clear where and when you are attacking before your hit even lands." Gojo shakes his head, as I lie back down on the ground of the training grounds after a hand-to-hand beat down, gritting my teeth.

I glared at him. So he wants stealth huh? I'll give him stealth! I thought as I focused on my technique. In the shadows…

An idea had been long in my mind… ever since I had used my Abyssal Sword against Bansho in the Subjugation Ritual for the first time. Why didn't the abyssal shadows have Curse Energy? Like they didn't have even a drop of CE and still didn't gain it when I pumped CE into the attack to make it stronger…

It would probably take me the rest of my life to learn the truth to this so that wasn't my idea here. Even though I didn't know the "Why" I could figure out how to use this to my advantage. So my idea was to use the "zero-curse-energy" shadows to my advantage.

In many other forms of media, a person with the ability to control the shadows often uses them to strengthen their physical attacks. Sure the author gives some vague answer as to how they can do so, but they do empower themselves.

So why can't I? Well I primarily can't do that because the shadows I controlled behaved differently. That was just how my technique worked.

Shadow Realm was a spherical planet that was made of shadows. It was affected by gravity so thus had a core- The Abyss where everything was super compressed. That was where I opened a portal to when I used Abyssal Sword or Abyssal Laser.

-Then there was the "In-Between" this was the layer between the surface and the core; it was the biggest part of my Shadow Realm. This layer also contained "solid" shadows so this was usable when attacking. This was the place I opened a portal to when I used my Abyssal Slashes.

Then there was the Surface. This was the "liquid" layer of the planet. These shadows were basically unusable for attacks and only served utility or support purposes. Only capable of moving through and storing things or maybe trapping opponents.

And finally it was the Atmosphere. The "air" part of my planet. That was made of shadowy wisps and fumes that I thought were useless… till now.

See… basically every shadow in my Realm was CE-less. But when I used it on the liquid shadows of the Surface they would gain CE. This was not the case for the solid shadows of "In-Between" or the "Abyss" as no matter how much CE I put into them they remained CE-less.

And using CE on the "Atmosphere" was useless as it was too "loose" and not capable of holding CE. It was akin to trying to fill a jar with water, but the jar had too many holes so the water would just fall through.

But what I could do… was to just guide the airy shadows along. I closed my eyes focusing on the wisps and fumes of the Realm. The CE-less shadows.

I brought them to me. Deep down where my stomach was, where my Curse Energy resided. And like I knew it instinctively, I attached them to my CE, guiding and swirling them alongside the energy through every bone, muscle and pore in my body.

I opened my eyes, looking down at my body to see that it was covered in an aura of shadowy wisps- my curse energy having changed the color from blue to abyssal black. And I intoned. "Abyssal Stealth."

"Hoh?" Gojo smirked in surprise. "You know I was thinking that you would learn to throw me off by overpowering your body with CE equally so that it would be harder for me to read you… But I guess your technique is full of tricks, huh? You're like a blind spot to even my Six Eyes now. I really wasn't expecting that you would make a curse technique on the spot."

But I wasn't hearing him, reinforcing myself with even more CE; I sprinted at him as we clashed in a mixture of punches, kicks and parries.

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

"This is much better Megumi!" Gojo said as I dodged his side kick and swiped at his midsection which he parried. He throws a punch at my midsection which I endure using both of my arms- sliding me back a few inches.

BAM!

"You know you're looking more and more like your father every day." Gojo comments and I finally reply to his banter, charging back at him with a front kick.

"That bum? I'm nothing like him!" The inner Megumi inside me rages out at that. Gojo meets my kick with his own and then quickly disengaging he throws a jab.

BAM!

Which I block, following up with another cross at his face. "Maybe. But your fighting style, looks, and now even the "blind spot" thing makes you more similar to him than you can even imagine." Gojo comments easily deflecting my blows.

I clicked my tongue. "Maybe you're right." I nodded reluctantly, soon getting back into fighting. Because despite my reluctance to admit it, as I grew and trained my body, I was slowly looking more and more like Toji but just with more spiky mid-length hair.

Despite that though, I still lost and got my ass beat, and was soon subjected to getting laughed at by both Gojo and the others. Still, I still stayed strong on my choice not seeing anything wrong with the red pointed gloves.

They were durable, useful enough and didn't get in the way of my other attacks AND protected my hands- which were essential for using my technique -from getting damaged. To me they were just what I needed.

After that defeat though, the fire of getting better at hand-to-hand combat was exponentially increased. Because even after developing a new stealth technique I lost because I wasn't that good at hand-to-hand (Gojo wasn't using Infinity).

Yuta, Panda, Inumaki and Maki can attest to that. As they were my sparring partners most of the time, with Gojo sometimes stopping by (primarily Maki though because she was always up for a spar).

Though I had one… interesting interaction in the month I was here. I had finally met my second year senpai'.

"Would you look at that? It's our kouhai~" said the moody and delinquent looking young man that any JJK fan would recognize. Even if his hair was different right now, as it was still black with small dreads and he was wearing a Jujutsu High uniform. It was the "Gambler" Kinji Hakari.

Standing next to him was a cute 'girl' with short neck length black hair and wide eyes, clearly shorter in height than Hakari, as she asks. "Hey! Hey! Are you the new first years? Nice to meet you! I'm Kirara Hoshi!"

They had met us just as we were coming back from our lunch period, and judging by their slightly scuffed and clear (at least Kirara's) tiredness they were coming back from a mission.

"Yo!" "Nice to meet you!" "How you doing?" "Hmm…" "Tuna." Came the multitude of replies from our side.

Looking at us one by one Hakari smirks, putting his hands in his pocket. "Pretty interesting this year's bunch of first years is! Don't you think so, Kirara? I'm Kinji Hakari, remember it well first years!" He finishes good naturedly as he pats Yuta's shoulders.

Kirara nods. "You're right Kin-chan!"

Panda being the most outspoken of us all decides to introduce us all. "This here is Maki Zenin, she's a weapon expert." He points to the long green-haired girl who waves. "This is Inumaki Toge; he is a Cursed Speech user and can only speak in rice ball ingredients." "Salmon." Inumaki nods in greeting.

"I'm Panda." Says Panda, not giving any more explanation as both Kirara's and Hakari's eyes twitched. 'He's the one I wanted to know more about.'

Then he points towards Yuta. "This is Yuta! He is cursed with the spirit of his childhood friend!" Yuta waves at the duo shyly.

But before he is able to introduce me, I do so myself. Walking forwards, straight towards the delinquent looking guy as I flare my CE. "The name is Fushiguro Megumi! Semi-First Grade Sorcerer. Fight me!"

Forgive me for my rudeness but I was still in the mood of fighting everyone so that I could get more experience in hand-to-hand. And there were only a few people better at that in Jujutsu High than Hakari.

In response to my prodigious amounts of CE, Hakari is instinctively forced to release his own, his blunt natured CE clashing against mine as we stared at each other, him looking at me with a smirk while I couldn't stop my battle lust from leaking out. "Hoh? Is this your fever first-year? Fighting?"

Hakari had a lot of potential, as evident by his infinite-CE and reverse cursed technique when he hits jackpot. In my opinion, Hakari during Culling Games was a peak first-grade sorcerer.

Sure there were many ways to counter his technique and he didn't have any mid-range or long-range attack options right now but all he needed was a good Special Grade Cursed Tool with a good ability, or a good Shikigami to really show the potential of "Infinite Cursed Energy".

Just as we were about to come to blows though, we were both interrupted by-

Maki pulls my ear as she looks at me in a deadpan. "Shut up you battle crazy idiot! We need to attend our classes!"

While Kirara stopped Hakari. "Kin-chan we need to report our mission to Gojo-sensei!"

Both of us looked at each other before nodding, inwardly having an agreement that we'll fight next time.

Kirara good-naturedly waved us off as we went back to our classroom. 'Unfortunately I have a Talisman making class right now that I wanted to learn about… if not then no one would have been able to stop me from having my fight.'

-And that was how I met Hakari and Kirara. My second-year upperclassmen.

But unfortunately it wasn't all good news as, 1 month after I joined Jujutsu High, I was given an old book by Gojo- this was all the Gojo Clan knew about my technique.

"Sorry Megumi! The Zenin Clan and Gojo Clan aren't really on friendly grounds so they refused my request. Though I have managed to find some information that Gojo Clan had gathered about your technique! I'm sure it will be quite the read!" he had said before giving me the book.

It was old, like at least 400 years old. The book wasn't even in the current language and required me to translate everything to even understand it.

But… it didn't teach me anything that I already didn't know about. The book mostly recorded the fight to the death between the Six Eyes User and Ten Shadows User of that era, almost 400 years ago. While Canon-Megumi did not know about this- I already did because of my metaknowledge.

Well… it did give me some useful information. I admitted that because it had given me some idea about what to expect from Funeral Tiger. The book contained a description of the Shikigami but nothing more than that.

But I have to take even that with a grain of salt. Because the Shikigami summoned by me had a pattern of at least looking different than either of their counterparts.

I was honestly kind of fed up with the constant setbacks on information gathering to be honest. The first time I decide to be smart and research the Shikigami, this happens! If this was what Canon Megumi had to go through, no wonder he was so slow in taming all of them!

-and at that moment I just decided to get the taming over and done with tonight. Was that reckless? Maybe. Did I care in the slightest? No.

I was getting too bored of just laying back and relaxing… I guess I really am a battle maniac huh?

[EDITED FOR SPELLING MISTAKES]

2237 Words.

A/N: Tbh, this chapter came out wayy~ rougher than i thought compared to when i writing it. Would love to hear your guys opinions on it! Also, a ton of development in this chapter! The third years are here- no wait! The second years are here! Also, the stealth thing- needless to say it uses a pseudo-science only my cooked up brain could invent! But i think it at least makes sense in regards to this version of Megumi's technique.

Next chapter! Funeral Tiger roars!
