Digging up the chest, Kevin began to try on his new gear for the second time since buying it.

As he suited up, Kevin examined his new appearance in the mirror he had created opposite him.

His gaze moved from the metal mask with eye slits to the armored, snow-white suit, to which he had later, under the influence of creative inspiration, decided to add yellow and a little black.

It turned out a bit rough, but stylish in principle. Not counting the materials, it all looked somewhere between Spider-Man's first and classic creations.

That is, the style and quality of the suit were there, but you could tell that the painting was not done by professionals and was handmade.

Having suited up, Kevin took only five seconds to concentrate for the jump to the city, after which he leaped into the air and, at a furious speed, shot towards New York as a huge beam of light.

Arriving in the city, he took out a black rectangular device with a rotating controller and an on/off button, which he had ordered from special sites on the dark web.

This not-so-legal creation only picked up police frequency waves, which for Kevin, who had lost the support of Vought's search department, was the only way to find work for his superhero profession.

Turning on the peculiar radio, Kevin began to listen to the waves, and after ten minutes, he caught a robbery code.

Just as he was about to start his superhero activities, Kevin suddenly realized that he didn't know where the street named by the police was, and that his past self didn't really remember the layout and names of the city's streets because he had never been particularly fond of walking and usually traveled by taxi.

Once again thanking fate for living in the information age, when he could just type in his location and the desired street, Kevin plotted the necessary route in a few minutes and, with a series of small jumps, reached the scene in half a minute.

Arriving on the roof of the building, The Deep was surprised to see a sniper sitting to his right, looking with some shock at the superhero who had appeared out of nowhere.

"Uh, hi," Kevin said, also a little embarrassed by the situation, waving to the man who had come to his senses.

"Newbie?" the man asked, examining The Deep's well-made suit with slightly uneven edges on the applied pattern and finding no matches in his memory with the list of supes approved by the city.

Usually, Vought confirmed the identities of the superheroes who would be helping the police that month with the city administration in advance, and whom the law enforcement officers were advised to call more often for not-so-serious incidents, of course, so as not to risk their own lives.

This list included mid-level heroes and those half a rank higher. Such missions were often carried out with additional filming from body cameras or drones, which would later end up on Vought's personal channels in shows related to the work of the police and superheroes.

Of course, there were also supes who were not on any lists, but if they decided to help, no one would say a word against it.

This was the highest level of extremely popular superheroes, each of whom was a potential candidate for The Seven.

And then there was the peak level, The Seven itself.

It was unlikely that there was a single police captain in the city who, upon receiving information about help from Homelander or Maeve, would tell them to fuck off.

But that didn't mean the police didn't understand the problem with supes. On the contrary, they had the highest percentage of people who were aware of the danger of heroes and their destructive potential.

This was mainly helped by newbies who, having superpowers and a cool costume, already considered themselves the second coming of Homelander and wanted to prove their prowess, which in nine out of ten cases did not end well.

"Well, how can I put it... probably not," Kevin answered.

"Johnson, who do you have there?" the commander's voice came through the sniper's earpiece.

"Nickname?" the man asked, returning to his scope.

"Can't say," Kevin answered, grimacing under his mask.

"What?" the policeman was clearly surprised. Every supe he knew constantly boasted about their nickname and not only expected such a question but would probably announce their "definitely" very cool superhero name themselves upon arrival.

So such an answer truly threw the man off for a few seconds, which Kevin took advantage of.

"There are only three of them?" The Deep asked, changing the position of the light particles, causing the space in front of him to distort and become like a huge magnifying glass, which showed him the bandit standing by the window in high resolution and gave the sniper the feeling that he only had to reach out to grab the criminal.

"Yeah," the man answered automatically.

"Johnson?!" an irritated voice came from the earpiece.

"I have an unidentified superhero here, sir," the man reported.

"A freelancer?" the man asked cautiously.

"Apparently so," the sniper answered, also not too happy.

"Fuck, a freelance imbecile is just what I needed for complete happiness right now," the operation commander cursed, imagining all the plans going to shit because of an idiot who thought too much of himself.

"Detain him by any means necessary. I've been informed that Nubian Prince should be arriving soon," the commander ordered.

"Listen, kid, you want to help, right?" the policeman asked, hoping for the supe's cooperative nature.

"You've already called someone, haven't you?" The Deep asked, knowing how the system worked, having been an active participant in it for a couple of years.

Only instead of working on land, he had worked at sea, catching illegals and drug traffickers. Although he had participated in coastal operations a couple of times.

Looking at the suddenly silent man, Kevin understood everything.

"Well, I'm off," The Deep said, turning his back to the man.
