"You! You actually have the Rinnegan too!"
Nagato, who had planned to intimidate Kazama with his Rinnegan's dojutsu, was stunned to see Kazama's Mangekyo Sharingan transform into a Rinnegan identical to his own.
Nagato had intended to overpower Kazama with his Rinnegan's abilities, but now, seeing Kazama wield the same power, he realized he had no chance of winning.
"Nagato, I told you from the start—we don't need to fight to the death. I'm here to save you!"
"Just you?!" Nagato snapped, ready to lash out, but in the next moment, he was pulled into Kazama's genjutsu.
This wasn't Tsukuyomi or Kotoamatsukami. Instead, Kazama used his genjutsu to project images of Black Zetsu's schemes and the events of the upcoming Fourth Shinobi World War directly into Nagato's mind.
This was another ability of the Rinnegan.
"What did you do to Nagato?!" Seeing Nagato's strange expression, Konan immediately moved to attack Kazama. But she was halted by the overwhelming pressure of Kazama's Rinnegan dojutsu.
Terrified, Konan stumbled back several steps before collapsing to the ground. In that moment, she understood—she was as insignificant as an ant before Kazama. If he wanted, he could kill her instantly.
"Konan, I have no ill intentions toward you or Nagato. If I did, I could've dealt with you the moment you first appeared," Kazama said.
Konan couldn't argue. Kazama was right—he could've easily taken her out.
"Nagato is just under my genjutsu. I need to show him some truths. This genjutsu won't harm him; it'll help him see clearly. Farewell."
With that, Kazama took the unconscious Jiraiya and left Amegakure, leaving behind a stunned Konan and a Nagato trapped in genjutsu.
Though Kazama's main goal in Amegakure was to absorb Nagato's Rinnegan power to gain its dojutsu, he also hoped Nagato could break free from Black Zetsu's manipulation and join him. That's why he didn't harm Nagato, instead using the Rinnegan's unique genjutsu to reveal the truth.
Kazama then used a Mokuton clone to send Jiraiya back to Konoha while he headed to Otogakure. His next step was to have Orochimaru implant Hashirama's cells into him.
With the Rinnegan already in his possession, adding Senju Hashirama's cells would greatly enhance his Kotoamatsukami ability. While it still wouldn't be enough to control Black Zetsu, it could control someone with Black Zetsu's cells in their body—like Obito.
Kazama figured if he could silently take control of Obito, more than half of the Akatsuki would be under his influence. That would make capturing the remaining Tailed Beasts much easier.
"Damn it, Otogakure is within the Land of Water's borders, so you're under our jurisdiction! Hand over those ten pagodas to the Land of Water, or I'll make your pathetic village disappear!"
At that moment, a group of ninja from the Land of Water had surrounded Otogakure. They'd learned about Kazama's ten pagodas, which could boost combat strength, and now they wanted to claim them for themselves.
