Levi studied the wyvern from their hiding spot, analyzing potential weak points. Its scales looked incredibly thick—natural armor that had probably deflected countless attacks over its lifetime. But there were vulnerable spots on any creature.
The eyes. The throat. The joints where wings connected to the body. The soft underbelly that wasn't as heavily armored.
"I'll need at least thirty seconds to prepare my strongest attack," Levi said. "Can you hold its attention that long?"
"We'll make it work," Marcus said with more confidence than Levi suspected he actually felt. "Once you're in position, we'll engage. Be ready."
They spent the next ten minutes working out final details—signal codes, retreat routes, contingency plans. Then, when everyone was clear on their roles, they began to move.
