Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Sykes

Z City — an underground research facility buried a thousand meters beneath the surface.

Once a battlefield of ruin, the laboratory now gleamed with renewed life. Torn alloy walls were flawlessly re-welded, and every shattered instrument had been replaced with the latest models.

Before the central control panel, two luxurious leather recliners sat side by side.

Sykes lounged lazily on the left recliner, her slender fingers lightly holding a crystal goblet. The dark red wine swirled as she tilted her wrist, leaving alluring streaks on the glass.

Tonight, she wore a deep purple silk nightgown with a plunging V-neckline that revealed a sweep of snowy skin. Below the hem, her black-stockinged legs crossed elegantly, and the crystal heels hooked on her toes swayed to the rhythm of her good mood.

"It seems the plan is going very smoothly~" Sykes murmured, taking a delicate sip. Her crimson lips left a faint, tempting mark on the rim.

Her emerald eyes lifted toward the massive screen above, which broadcast a live feed of Times Square in M City.

On the right recliner sat her Clone, equally poised, though she had chosen a light pink lace nightdress paired with white stockings — a soft contrast to Sykes's darker allure.

Her light purple eyes flicked toward the screen, her tone calm but cutting.

"Du S, that useless thing, finally did something right. At least she managed to lure King out."

"To the 'Strongest Man on Earth' — who's about to walk straight into our trap," Sykes purred, raising her glass, her voice drenched in confidence.

"To our perfect plan," the Clone replied coolly.

Their glasses clinked with crystalline precision, the sound echoing through the sterile laboratory. For once, the two set aside their rivalry, sharing a rare smile of mutual satisfaction.

On the screen, their carefully crafted "Unlucky Bag" had successfully encountered King.

When he exposed her identity with a single, casual remark, neither woman panicked. Instead, they smiled — the quiet satisfaction of puppeteers watching their marionette dance exactly as planned.

"As expected, he recognized her~" Sykes said softly, crossing her legs again. The hem of her gown slid down, revealing another glimpse of flawless skin.

"I told you — if he could call out our names that night, he's already gathered plenty of intel."

"This is even better," she continued, swirling her glass. "Let him think he's outsmarted us. He'll relax. He'll take her back. That's when our little gift will take effect."

The Clone stretched lazily, the lace at her neckline slipping open just enough to reveal the faint shimmer of her collarbone.

"Men's psychology really is fascinating~ When they think they're in control, that's when they're most vulnerable."

Sykes chuckled, her eyes glinting. "This move… is us predicting his prediction of our prediction."

The Clone smirked, eyes full of anticipation. "I can't wait to see King's face when he realizes he's been played."

Their glasses met again — a toast to victory.

The rich scent of red wine lingered between their smiles, as intoxicating as the web they had spun.

But then — the "Unlucky Bag" on the screen did something entirely outside the plan.

She reached into her sleeve, drew out a metal vial… and began explaining everything to King. Every single detail of their scheme.

"What… what is she doing?!" Sykes's voice cracked, disbelief bleeding into panic.

The Clone shot upright, oblivious to the nightdress strap slipping from her shoulder. "That idiot! Has she lost her mind?!"

M City — Times Square.

Hei Tong Sykes bit her lower lip, eyes shadowed with resolve.

"They don't care if I live or die. Whether the plan succeeds or fails, I'm just a pawn to them. So rather than wait to be discarded… it's better to—"

"So you just defected outright?"

Kaito's voice cut in, laced with amusement. He eyed the young girl before him, then burst into laughter that filled the air.

"Hahaha! Sykes, oh Sykes! You really are a foolish beauty — betrayed by your own Clone again!"

Hei Tong Sykes tilted her head slightly, her expression almost childlike.

"Is King-sama not angry? I was supposed to harm you…"

"Angry?" Kaito grinned, sliding an arm around her slender waist. "I'm delighted! Since that's the case, I'll accept you as this 'gift.'"

Despite his teasing tone, Kaito didn't fully believe her. His instincts told him to stay wary — to play along, to watch, to wait.

Soon enough, her true intentions would surface.

And when they did, whether she lived or died would depend entirely on his mood.

Du S, bound nearby, had witnessed everything.

Though she secretly resented Great Eyes for betraying her, she couldn't suppress the sharp edge of mockery curling from her lips.

"Heh… men. Creatures who think with their lower bodies — every last one of them."

Kaito turned toward her, his gaze gliding lazily over the tempting curves framed by the leather whip binding her. A cold smile played across his face.

"Don't worry," he said, his voice a low purr. "You'll get your share. I've prepared quite the selection of… tools. Tonight, I'll 'interrogate' both of you properly."

Before leaving, he snapped his fingers. Instantly, the hostages in the square — once under psychic control — collapsed as the invisible restraints dissolved.

Z City — Underground Research Facility

Chaos erupted once again.

In the rebuilt control chamber, Sykes's fury ignited like wildfire.

"That bitch! I'll tear her to pieces!" she screamed, her psychokinesis bursting out in a storm that shredded the surrounding instruments and twisted steel walls like paper.

The Clone was just as enraged, her power tearing the massive display screen from its mount and smashing it to the floor.

"We have to move, now! That traitor knows this location. If she brings King here—"

"No."

Sykes abruptly stilled, her chest heaving. Beneath the flicker of madness in her emerald eyes, a shard of cold resolve gleamed.

"If the soft approach doesn't work," she hissed, "then we'll go hard. Notify every member of the Monster Association — we're declaring an all-out war on the Hero Association."

The Clone froze for a heartbeat… then grinned, her expression twisting with exhilaration.

"Finally getting serious? I like it~"

Their gazes met again, twin reflections of insanity and destruction. This time, their smiles were no longer conspiratorial — they were the smiles of monsters ready to burn the world.

A City — Hero Association Headquarters

On the top floor of the gleaming tower, a quiet but seismic power shift was underway.

In the conference room, the air was thick with tension.

Child Emperor stood before the long table, his small frame dwarfed by the towering executives around him — yet the aura he exuded silenced the room. His voice, though young, carried a sharp and undeniable authority.

"From today onward," he declared evenly, "Mr. Agoni will officially assume the position of President of the Hero Association."

He pushed his tactical glasses up the bridge of his nose, the reflection of cold light flashing across the lenses.

If anyone dared to object, he was fully prepared to activate the "Saitama" combat mech beside him and erase the problem on the spot.

Around the table, the previously arrogant executives now sat stiffly, their heads bowed, too afraid to breathe too loudly. They all understood one thing — surviving this internal purge was already a miracle.

Bang!

The doors slammed open.

Agoni strode in, his sharp eyes scanning the room like a blade. His gaze cut through every man and woman present.

And as one, they lowered their heads — cowed by the silent authority of the new order.
