"hu..?"
When Lapsus opened his eyes, he found himself falling.
what is happening..? As his senses finally came back, Lapsus's eyes opened. He averted his gaze only to find blood—blood spluttering around like a sliced water pipe.
Was it because he was rolling around as he fell? He had no time to wonder.
Scared, petrified, confused, and lonely... Lapsus couldn't hold it anymore, and he blurted it out—vomited all the emotions he had through his mouth.
It was night sky, no light was there to illuminate his moments of fear... only that light shone—the blue light that always drew him, yet the same light that made that stench grow stronger, that fragrance too, he referred to it as the blue hyacinth—the smell that suffocated him.
I am gonna die... Finally, as his thoughts strayed away from his non-existent hand, as his thoughts were taken by the blue star, Lapsus realized that he was falling to his death.
He stared at the ground he was soon to hit—it was trees... too many trees, a forest, but it was surrounding a small open space. This was soon to be his death place.
again.. just me, by myself... He closed his eyes and waited for it—his demise.
[not yet...] A voice rang inside him—a loud yet serene voice, one he couldn't tell whose owner it was, for it was both familiar and strange; a voice he couldn't even discern whether it belonged to a man or a woman.
"..?" And before he knew it, the ground seemed distant and his vision blurred, only for his body to disappear and reappear—this time much closer to the ground, but not so close, for he hit many branches before landing on the ground, merely safe.
what was that voice..? He wondered. He wanted to know and understand what happened, but he also knew that there were no answers for the questions he was asking.
no, where am i..? A question he needed its answer. He scrutinized his surroundings as he lay down—nothing but trees extending as far as his eyes could see, trees larger than anything he'd witnessed. And those trees weren't the only thing there.
someone... something is lurking... As the little branches' creaks suggested, Lapsus knew he was being observed by something.
"...?" He tried to stand up, but his right leg refused to—it was by the pain in his ankle that he knew his landing wasn't a hundred percent safe.
So he crawled as the creaks grew stronger.
i feel tired... Yet, although he was trying to survive, reality was telling another story. The blood he lost from his hand finally caught up to him; with each advancement, his body felt heavier, and his eyelids came together before he forcefully opened them.
He was trying to cling to life, but the situation wasn't allowing such. He clung to a tree and tried to forcefully stand up—but before he knew it, he felt it. Something was crawling up his body... he felt it running through his hip up to his right arm.
"..." He fell on his butt, screamed out loud as he rubbed his body, but the feeling didn't stop. This time he came to see it.
A wyrm!!? He questioned, as his blurry vision didn't help much. The little thing was crawling... running... he couldn't tell if it was limbless, if it had any features, for his thoughts were running slow from the blood loss.
And then it tried to enter his body. Lapsus understood the little thing's intention—for it was trying to use his new injury to enter his body—so Lapsus panicked and tried to take it off his arm, but it bit him.
And instead of going for the injury, it started climbing to his face, running at a tremendous speed, reaching Lapsus's lips.
--------
i remember that day... after uncle Aurel explained to us the wyrms, i wondered how the implanting goes.
"is it by eating them..?" i asked, and his answer was ambiguous, but i was able to take one piece of information
"if a non-host person tried to consume a wyrm by his mouth, he wouldn't be"it was clearly dangerous and fatal
"get off!! get off!! get off!!.."
Lapsus panicked; he started slamming his body on the ground, hoping the shock would throw the thing—the wyrm—away, but it stayed. He grabbed the wyrm with his hand and tried to take it off with all the little strength he was left with, but the wyrm stood firmly. And just there, where Lapsus was spouting nonsense, the wyrm jumped inside his mouth and crawled before falling into his throat.
Lapsus tried to force it out—he tried to vomit it by pushing his fingers up his throat—yet the wyrm had already gone inside.
"why is this happening..?" Many things happened to Lapsus in just a single week... he learned many things and experienced many to the point his mind couldn't process it anymore.
He just gave up; laid against a tree and let his eyelids close. He muttered under his breath with a sore throat... even simple words were heavy to say. And before he knew it, he slept as the tree branches hugged him.
