James enters the second floor of the dungeon excitedly, expecting it to be as easy as the last, and wondering how to test the rest of the skills he needed to.
As James went down to the next floor, he chose to finally take a look at the skills and abilities he absorbed from the hobgoblins and the human/demi-human bodies that had been in the hobgoblin's main area.

James opens his system menu and takes a look at his skill tab. The first thing James had seen was a prompt to merge a few of his skills to make them better and multiple functional. Amongst the skills James could merge, there had mainly been body enhancement and speed-related skills, which were passive and would allow him to have better physical abilities with less training, which would also help with his stamina and a few other things that would let him use more powerful magic, and for longer.
After considering the merger, James decided to go ahead with it, as it would likely be done by the time he was to reached the second floor of the dungeon.
James then closed the menu after starting the skill merger process and looked at the other skills he had acquired. Among the skills, the ones that stood out most to James were the body transformation skill and nthe ight vision skill, along with a skill that would allow James to teleport short distances in an instant.

James draws closer to the second floor of the dungeon and activates one of his stealth skills, which allows him to stay hidden in the dark and not be perceived by monsters, humans, demons, and demi-humans alike, unless they are highly perceptive.
James slows his speed by a fair bit and tries to scout out the monster that may be lurking around on the second floor.
A few minutes into the second floor, James spots what seems to be a slime-type monster, and has a faint memory from his past life resurface, which reminds him of some old games he used to play, that portrayed slimes as harmless monsters, that sit around and do nothing, which causes James to let down his guard a little bit, but not all the way.
James Belfork: Ein, what are those slimy-looking monsters called?
Ein Felheart: Kid, maybe you should try and fight those.
James Belfork: I didn't ask if I should fight them or not. I want to know what they're called.
Ein Felheart: Didn't you learn anything in school? Those are called slimes, and they're some really dangerous sons of bitches.
James Belfork: Dangerous? They look pretty harmless to me.
Ein Felheart: Of course you'd say that, every cocky adventurer I've ever met have said such things.
James Belfork: Okay, then whats so dangerous about them?
Ein Felheart: They're B-class monsters that can instantly dissolve anything that touches them, and they are resistant to all magic and physical attacks.
James Belfork: Wouldn't that mean that theirs no way to kill them?
Ein Felheart: Well, yes, but no. You can still kill them, but it requires very strong resistance to acid and instant kill ability.
James Belfork: If they're that strong, then why haven't they taken over already?
Ein Felheart: While they are strong, their bodily fluids are so acidic that their brains and bones all melt before they're even a second old.
James Belfork: Then how do they multiply?
Ein Felheart: The things they absorb make them grow larger and split into multiple parts.
James Belfork: So if I go past them, they won't do anything, even if I attack and run?
Ein Felheart: Well yeah. Thats why I say its better to not try and fight them and just go on your way, since they're not much of a treat if you quickly go past them, however if you or any weapon you have, including the clothes on your back touch them, their acidic fluids spread ridiculously fast, onto whatever touches it, so you'd likely die in a matter of seconds.
James Belfork: I see, but I want to try something before that.
Ein Felheart: *…*

James approaches the slimes and attempts to use his gluttony ability on them to see what would happen. To both James' and Eins' surprise, the slimes get absorbed by his ability, and when James looks at his skill tab after, he sees 2 new skills called Acidic blood and acid-resistant skin.
After looking at his skills, James finds that acidic blood is an active skill and acid-resistant skin is a passive skill. James gets the to use his acid-resistant skin ability to kill the slimes, as it would allow him to live, even if acid gets on him; however, he decides against it, as all of his clothes and his storage ring would be destroyed in the process.
