Chapter 44 - Time to Be Warriors / Destiny Fulfilled

*In the Library.*

"All my Lady ever desired was a world no longer plagued by pain, until the Monkey King and his companions got in the way. Fate, however, has gifted her a second chance! With the Monkey King under her control, there's no stopping—" The Mayor rambled on until Pigsy picked him up and started shaking him violently.

"Yeah, yeah, we get it already! If I hear the word "destiny" one more time..." said Pigsy getting tired of hearing that word.

"Aye, please. Not another word of that." said Miwa.

"Pigsy, put the prisoner down!" Tang exclaimed.

"Monkey King beat her before. We can do it again." said MK.

Miwa gave a nod in agreement.

"I don't really see how. Now that she has Wukong and the Dragon Girl." said Redson, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed.

"All right, bozo. You're going to tell us how Sun Wukong stopped the Lady Bone Demon last time or—" said Tang now being one to shake the Mayor violently.

Macaque and Miwa watched, both rolling their eyes then glancing at each other. Miwa being the first to look away.

"That information won't help you now. My Lady has corrected the one mistake in her previous plan!" said the Mayor with a creepy grin.

"Oh, right, right, right. And remind me, er, what was that mistake again?" MK asked.

"The mistake of extending her compassion only to the mortal realm." said the Mayor.

"Uh-huh. I see. And where is this "mortal realm"?" MK asked.

"We're in it, you moron." said Redson sarcastically.

"She hadn't accounted for a celestial being to stand in her way. However, instead of Sun Wukong's swift vengeance, the Great Monk showed my Lady mercy. Until she had come to see the error of her ways, she was to remain imprisoned. Ha, the fools! Now her time has come again. The Samadhi Fire is the one thing strong enough to cleanse not only the mortal plane, but the Celestial Realm and everything beyond even that!" The Mayor laughs. "A fresh start. A clean slate. Just as she had planned. The mech is a weapon to channel the Samadhi Fire. Now that it is in her possession, it's only a matter of time until the final moment arrives."

"Damn, does he ever shut up." Miwa whispered.

"If it's about his Lady, nope." Macaque whispered.

Miwa huffed and hit him on the back of his head with one of her tails.

"My Lady's power is too great for you to best. Your friend will surrender the Fire. My Lady's victory is assured!" said the Mayor laughing like a maniac.

"She didn't look so hot last time I saw her." Macaque mocked, ignoring the hit to his head.

"Nu-huh. You're in time-out, so you don't get to chime in. Sandy, spin him!" MK quickly jumped in.

"Sorry, Mr. Maquack." said Sandy as he turned him around.

Miwa held in a snort when he got called that, still avoiding eye contact.

"Come on, kid. You must have seen it. She might be stronger than ever, but she's spread too thin. The mech, the crystal, and now Monkey King? I bet you anything that keeping him suppressed is using every ounce of strength she's got." Macqaue explained.

"Meaning, there's—" Redson quickly realized before getting cut off.

"There's a vulnerability." said Sandy.

"Ugh, I was going to say that." Redson scoffed.

"Whoa ho ho. We're really going to listen to Macaque? For all we know, he's still working for her. He could be luring us into a trap." said Pigsy glancing over at Macaque. "Not to mention, he has been trying to take Miwa away from us."

Macaque simply shrugged, but glanced over at Miwa who wasn't even looking at him. Though he did notice her ears reacting to his slight movement, which meant she was listening to him.

"MK, from the moment you picked up the Monkey King's staff, their stories became our stories. It's our responsibility to write the final chapter, no matter the outcome. If we do this, we do it together. That's Monkie Kid 101." said Tang.

"Together." said MK with confident.

"All right, so what's the plan, monkey man?" Sandy asked.

"Well, if the Lady Bone Demon needs her mech to use the Samadhi Fire, then all we got to do is destroy that mech before she gets the chance!" MK explained.

"That's your big plan?! " shouted Redson.

"It's MK, so it shouldn't be that surprising." Miwa shrugged in the same manner as Macaque.

"Let him finish!" said Tang.

"I-I was just checking we were all on the same page. As you were, Noodle Boy." said Redson, letting him continue.

"We break into the Bone Demon's mech, get Mei out of there, and then we smash the mech into tiny little bits before that terrifying demon knows what's hit her!" MK went on explaining.

"And what about Sun Wukong? If he shows up—" Redson asked.

"Then we fight monkey with monkey! This monkey." MK pointed towards Macaque. "And Miwa too."

"Look, I brought you the Lady Bone Demon's lapdog, but I'm not up for being a hero, kid." Macaque explained.

"Same, I'm not into being a hero. But... I still wanna hellp." said Miwa.

"We don't need you to beat him. We just got to keep him busy. As long as he's under her control, the mech's vulnerable. We can do this. You can do this." said MK.

"Nice speech, kid. But it's not gonna—" said Macaque trying to dismiss him.

"Stop. You keep playing at being this bad guy, acting like you're just in it for you. But I know, deep, deep down, you're not that guy. Help us. Make it right." said MK a he pressed a finger against his chest towards his heart.

Macaque glanced over at Miwa, then back at MK. "I'm not a hero, bud."

"Then be a warrior, with Miwa." said MK, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Macaque slips through his shadow portal and instantly pops up with the ropes off him. "Okay, kid. You win."

"Cool." said Miwa actually looking at him, a little impressed.

"What? You could have freed yourself this whole time?" Pigsy asked.

"What can I say? I'm dramatic." Macaque shrugged, then walked over to Miwa. "Freckles..."

Miwa snapped out of being surprised and crossed her arms as her ears went back. "You lied."

"About what? I don't remember lying to you about anything." said Macaque, though observed her body language carefully.

Miwa looked over at the others before lowering her voice so they couldn't hear her. Except for Macaque. "You lied about knowing that I was a wish."

Macaque almost froze where he stood, shocked that she had found out. But kept his act of being calm so the others wouldn't take any notice. "... That doesn't matter what you are."

"It matters to me, if all I am is a wish..." Tears started forming in Miwa's eyes. "Then I shouldn't even exist in the first—"

Macaque pulled her into a hug before she could finish her sentence. "Don't say that. No matter what, wish or not. You are my daughter, and I meant it when I said that I was happy to find you alive. And that I was trying to help you."

Tears ran down Miwa's face as she wrapped her arms around Macaque, hugging him tightly while quietly crying into his chest.

The gang looked over at the two, not sure what they had been talking about. But by the looks of it, it seemed like they made up. Which was a sweet moment.

Macaque gave the gang a cold glare, causing them all to look away. Knowing it was better not to pry into that.

"Now, how about we go and help that useless parent of yours? My little warrior." Macaque ruffled her hair.

Miwa gave a light laugh and batted his hand away from her hair. A confident smile on her face. "You bet."

*A montage as the team suits up.*

"Aw yeah. Let's get this porty started, son. Burr burr burr burr burr!" said MK's party clone.

*Redson opens a portal.*

"Aw yeah. We have maximum porty, boys." said the party clone.

*The van flies through the portal and to the Lady Bone Demon.*

"Remind me again how we're gonna destroy this thing?" Pigsy asked.

"Macaque and Miwa keeps Sun Wukong busy." said Redson.

"We break in and find Mei." said Sandy.

"Then we use MK's staff to smash that mech to bits." said Tang.

"What? But the staff's gone." said MK.

"No. It's not. Bone Demon's keeping it at the top of the tower. But I don't see how an old stick is going to be of any help." Macaque explained.

"That's easy. We'll give her the old Monkey Mech finishing blow. MK always uses his staff to do that." said Sandy.

"Even if it's just a big old stick, maybe it'll give you the power you need now to finish her." said Tang.

"This whole crazy adventure started with the staff, so it makes sense that we should use it to end it." said Pigsy.

"Everyone is right. So you just focus on the staff." said Miwa.

"Okay. I'm glad you guys said that, 'cause I'm not going to lie, I really felt super incomplete without it." said MK, almost getting teary.

"Come on, kid, Freckles. Let's go." said Macaque as the three got on top of the van.

*Macaque and MK transform into birds and fly off. Along with Miwa who had finally gotten her transformation powers back.*

"Here comes Monkie—" MK charged right in.

"King!" shouted Lady Bone Demon, as Wukong landed right in front of them. "MK, the Monkie Kid, Miwa the Luna Kid and the Six-Eared Macaque. Here to embrace oblivion?"

"Eh, not really Boney." Miwa shrugged.

"The opposite, actually. I'm kind of on this whole living streak now, so we were hoping maybe you could call off this whole end of the world thing? Would really help us out." said Macaque, leaning over and resting an arm over Miwa's shoulder.

"Yeah. What he said!" said MK.

"Yeah, besides. The whole end of the world thing, seems a little extreme and so not necessary. So hope you don't mind if we crash the party." said Miwa with a smirk.

"None of us can alter the course of destiny." said Lady Bone Demon.

"Yeah. I thought as much. MK. Now!" said Macaque.

MK and Wukong charge at each other. MK watches as the distance between Wukong's fist gets closer but Macaque leaps in and holds off Wukong along with Miwa.

"Alright, MK. I hope that staff is worth it!" shouted Macaque.

"We'll do what we can, so you better hurry up!" shouted Miwa as her body started glowing.

MK takes one last look as their fight explodes above before running up to the staff.

"No matter what you do, you cannot change the path of destiny." said Lady Bone Demon.

"I don't know if all this happened because it was destined to. But I have to believe that Miwa and I found the staff so I could use it for good: To help people. So that's exactly what I'm gonna do. I'm going to take my staff and protect! This! World!" MK grabs his staff but can't pull it out. "Come on!" He tries to pull it from the ground.

"Oh, sweet child. Can't you see? Sun Wukong couldn't best me. What can you hope to accomplish when he has failed?" Lady Bone Demon asked.

In the corner of his eye, MK sees Macaque has been thrown to the ground in defeat and Wukong is coming for him. But Miwa jumped right in, stopping him as she finally got her full monkey form.

"Not happening, Dad." Miwa actually was able to give Wukong some struggle in forcing his way through her. Using more of her hidden strength that she didn't know she had until now.

"Cast aside your stubbornness and face your demise with honor." said Lady Bone Demon.

Wukong began putting more force as he slowly was pushing her back, before taking a step back and then landed a solid kick. Knocking her towards MK and the staff.

"Aah!" Miwa groans, struggling to get back up. "Yeah, I felt that a-alright."

"If you really believe that destiny can't be changed, you wouldn't be using every ounce of power you have to keep him contained!" Up close, Lady Bone Demon is revealed to be breaking under her control. "The Monkey King I know will never stop fighting you. And neither will I nor Miwa."

"MK is right, I believe in my Dad. As long as even just one of us is still standing there is a chance." said Miwa grabbing the staff.

Wukong leaps at them to deliver the final blow but snaps out of her hold and grabs the staff instead. "Thanks for not giving up on me, bud. Freckles."

"No!" shouted Lady Bone Demon.

"Time for the hero stuff." Together, they lift the staff out. Wukong tosses off her spiritual hold. Down in the mech, the spiritual avatars disappear. "Ugh! I can still feel her crawling under my skin."

MK hugs him. "I'm glad you're back."

"Me too." Miwa hugged Wukong, her tails wagging happily.

"Uh, guys? Now that Wukong's not under her control." Macaque began pointing out.

"Oh, No!" MK quickly realized.

"Predictably unpredictable fools! I'm not one to rush destiny but I won't be undone by a troop of headstrong simians!" Lady Bone Demon summons her Bone Demon powers, freeing the Little girl in the process. Macaque catches her. "If the Dragon Girl will not give me the Samadhi Fire willingly, then I will rip it from her!"

*Mei screams as the Lady Bone Demon's force unexpectedly comes through her and she loses control. MK, Miwa and Wukong are thrown off the mech.*

"Mei!" shouted MK and Miwa.

"Go! I'll get through to her! Somehow." said Redson as Pigsy grabs Sandy and Tang and they join the fall with the others. They land and watch her activate the Bone mech.

"You're right, MK. If you had never found that staff, none of this would have been possible. A delivery boy to the end." said Lady Bone Demon while MK walks up to the mech.

"Kid—" Pigsy reached out but Wukong stops him and the others.

"Now watch as I fulfill my destiny and begin this world anew! No Monkey King, no Monkie Kid! Nothing!" Lady Bone Demon laughs but then gasps as she sees that MK had created his Monkey Mech to block the fire. "No!"

"MK!" cheered Tang.

"That's my boy!" shouted Pigsy.

"No. No! I will not be stopped by a foul, insignificant creature! You would allow this world to continue to fester and rot, the eternal misery of countless souls because of your sentimentality for mortal pleasures?!" shouted Lady Bone Demon frustrated.

"You can't judge things by their worst qualities!" shouted MK.

"This world might not be perfect but it's still worth fighting for!" shouted Tang.

"Yeah! Sometimes it's that little bit of char that makes for a more flavorful meat, even if it is a bit tangy." said Pigsy.

Mo meows.

"You said it, Mo. The world may be full of darkness but to let the light shine, all we need to do is stand together!" said Sandy.

"Just because you don't like something, doesn't give you the right to decide what is best for others! Having flaws and being imperfect is what brings out the best in us all!" shouted Miwa, her eyes for a second turning red then returning back to their normal golden color.

*The team has tapped into their powers and joins in to create a celestial mech.*

"The perfect world is what we make it. So as long as I have my friends by my side, this world! Is! Perfect!" shouted MK, charging in.

"A child's notion! I will not indulge it!" shouted Lady Bone Demon.

*Down below, Redson has broken into the crystal.*

"Don't you give up on me, Dragon Girl! The Samadhi Fire is not her power! It's yours! Bend it to your will! Don't use the flame, Mei!" said Redson grabbing her face with both his hands.

"Be the flame." Mei breaks out of Lady Bone Demon's hold and spirals down her mech towards MK.

"What?!" shouted Lady Bone Demon in disbelief.

"Hey, Monkey Man! Luna Kid! Ya miss me?" Mei asked with a smile.

"Huh? Mei?!" MK exclaimed surprised.

"Mei!" Miwa pulled her into a tight hug.

"Yeah, I-I'm here too, by the way." said Redson before also getting pulled into the hug.

"You're both alright, that's a relief." said Miwa smiling at the two.

"Let's end this!" Mei, Miwa and MK turned their attention towards Lady Bone Demon in front of them.

Tang uses chi to free everyone from Lady Bone Demon's hold. The powers from various demons come together and the size of the celestial mech grows. MK creates a celestial staff. Ne Zha attaches Fire Wheels to the celestial mech. Miwa surrounds the mech with cosmic energy.

"Here! Comes!" shouted MK, charging right at her.

"Monkie!" shouted everyone.

"No!" Lady Bone Demon creates a barrier. "You will not take my destiny from me!"

"Kid!" They smash through her barrier, destroying her and the mech.

*MK ends up in a white void place.*

MK looks at his surroundings before taking a fighting stance when seeing Lady Bone Demon.

"Save your hero speech, child. I've existed long enough to know when it's over." said Lady Bone Demon.

"You still think the universe really wants anything from any of us?" MK asked.

"Don't you?" asked Lady Bone Demon.

"I try not to think too hard." said MK.

"So it would seem. Know this, Monkey. You and I are not so different. We both fight for what we think is right. That pursuit only leads to one thing. said Lady Bone Demon.

"Mhm. To destiny, right?" MK guessed.

"No. To pain." She fades away and MK ponders on what she meant.

*The gang has regrouped around a fire somewhere on a mountain.*

"A hearty meal rich in macro-nutrients is just what the body needs to refuel after battle." said Sandy giving out food for everyone.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." said Ne Zha gabbing a bowl.

MK grabs a bowl himself and goes over to sit next to Wukong by a cliff, taking in the view. While Miwa sat on the other side.

Macaque appears behind MK. "You were done with that, right?"

"Well, actually I—" MK began answering before getting cut off.

Wukong grabs the bowl. "He was saving that for me, 'cause you know, I'm his mentor!" He speedily gobbles up the noodles.

"Still the same Wukong, doing whatever he wants with no regard for others." said Macaque rolling his eyes.

"You can have mine, Papa." Miwa handed over her bowl, not feeling that hungry.

"Mm, yeah! I'll keep that in mind next time you scheme with the enemy and almost get us all D-E-D!" Wukong pointed out then glanced at Miwa. "Don't give him your food! Don't forget he even stabbed you! Which we haven't even found a way to fix yet."

Miwa simply just shrugged, giving a light giggle before she noticed something glowing in the sky.

"Uh, you know you two are the same, right?" MK questioned.

"I'm nothing like him!" shouted the two.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Wukong asked when seeing Macaque walking away.

"Don't know. Somewhere where I can do a bit of scheming, probably. See you around, MK. Miwa." Macaque falls halfway through a portal. When the sudden sound of screaming caught his and everyone's attention.

Everyone turned their gaze in a slowmotion as they saw Miwa getting struck by four colorful lights from the sky, and when the lights faded out. Miwa was all gone, only the burned marks of where she had once sat were the only thing left from her.
