When Cherry returned to the Ace Carter Residence, Gilbert wasn't home yet. The suite felt too quiet, and with no one around, she went straight to the shower.
While bathing, she noticed the ache in her lower stomach sharpen, and that's when she realized her period had started. No wonder she hadn't felt well all day.
After her shower, she saw food waiting on the dining table. The housekeeper must have prepared it while she was inside. But Cherry had no appetite. On days like this, even the sight of heavy food made her sick. She settled for a few pieces of fruit, then headed straight to bed, skipping her drafts entirely. She drifted into a deep, heavy sleep.
Sometime past midnight, a cold breeze stirred her comforter. Cherry half woke, shivering slightly when soft lips crashed hard against hers.
"Hmmm... " Cherry whimpered, a sharp pain stabbing her stomach. She squirmed, but Gilbert's hands clamped around her waist, locking her in place.
