Chapter 45 - Web of Lies

BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN

"Web of Lies"

A Fan-Made Episode Script (Original Story)

COLD OPEN

Place BELLWOOD INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT — NIGHT

A row of warehouses, mostly dark. One window glows faintly. Inside, shelves of crated electronics sit undisturbed — except for a strange, fine, silvery webbing strung between them, glistening faintly under emergency lighting.

A SECURITY GUARD walks his rounds, flashlight sweeping. He stops, frowning at the webbing.

SECURITY GUARD

(muttering)

Building's not even that old. Why's it got cobwebs already...

He reaches out to brush a strand aside. The moment he touches it, the entire web SHIVERS, faint vibrations rippling outward like a struck instrument string.

Something skitters across the rafters above — fast, multi-limbed, gone before the flashlight beam catches more than a blur.

SECURITY GUARD (CONT'D)

(backing up, voice tight)

...Yeah. Calling this in.

INT. TENNYSON GARAGE — NIGHT

BEN TENNYSON, GWEN TENNYSON, and KEVIN LEVIN crowd around Gwen's tablet, watching grainy security footage on loop — the blur crossing the rafters, again and again.

KEVIN

(squinting)

Okay, I'll bite. What is that supposed to be?

GWEN

(zooming in, frustrated)

That's the problem — I can't tell. Too fast, too much webbing distortion in the shot.

BEN

(arms crossed)

Three break-ins this month, same industrial district, nothing actually stolen. Just... webbed.

GWEN

Whatever it is, it's not interested in the electronics. It's interested in the buildings themselves. Almost like it's mapping them.

KEVIN

(leaning back)

You know who else does the web-and-climb thing.

Ben and Gwen both look at him.

KEVIN (CONT'D)

(shrugging)

I'm just saying. Feels a little on the nose.

BEN

(standing, grabbing his jacket)

Then let's go find out if it's actually on the nose, or if something just wants us to think that.

ACT ONE

EXT. INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT — WAREHOUSE ROW — NIGHT

Ben, Gwen, and Kevin approach the webbed warehouse from before. The silvery strands catch the moonlight, stretched between buildings now, not just inside one — an expanding network.

GWEN

(scanning)

It's spread to four buildings since the report came in. This isn't random. It's deliberate, structured — almost architectural.

KEVIN

(running a hand along a strand, careful)

Feels stronger than spider silk has any right to be. This could probably hold my car.

A faint VIBRATION ripples through the web at his touch — and somewhere above, in the dark between two rooftops, eyes glint briefly before vanishing.

BEN

(noticing)

We're being watched. Let's not wait for it to make the first move.

He slaps the Ultimatrix.

[TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE]

Green light wraps Ben's body. He shrinks slightly, gains extra limbs sprouting from his sides, blue fur rippling across new musculature, eyes multiplying to four, glowing yellow.

BEN (AS SPIDERMONKEY)

(chattering, energetic)

Spidermonkey! Alright, web-weaver — let's see whose network's actually better.

He launches a strand of webbing upward, swinging onto the nearest rooftop in one fluid motion.

ACT TWO

EXT. WAREHOUSE ROOFTOPS — CONTINUOUS

Spidermonkey lands in a crouch, scanning the maze of silver strands crisscrossing the rooftops like a vast, deliberate net. Gwen and Kevin follow at ground level, weaving between buildings.

SPIDERMONKEY

(examining a strand up close)

This isn't simple. There's a pattern here — nodes, intersections, like...

He follows a particularly thick strand to where it anchors at a central point: a small, dark, segmented creature, roughly Spidermonkey's own size, perched motionless at the convergence of a dozen webs, watching him with multiple glinting eyes.

SPIDERMONKEY (CONT'D)

(quietly, almost impressed)

...Okay, that's actually a really good web.

The creature doesn't attack. It tilts its head, chitters once — not aggressive, almost curious — and the entire surrounding web SHIVERS in response, vibrating in a rhythm that almost resembles language.

SPIDERMONKEY (CONT'D)

(to Gwen and Kevin over comm)

Guys, I don't think this thing's hostile. It's just... talking. In vibrations.

GWEN (V.O.)

(urgent)

Ben, be careful — that's exactly the kind of thing that could be lying to you to buy time.

SPIDERMONKEY

(considering)

Maybe. Or maybe everyone just assumed "spider-thing in the dark" automatically means "villain." Let's not jump straight to smashing it.

He chitters back, mimicking the creature's vibration pattern as best he can. The creature freezes — then, cautiously, responds with a slower, simpler pattern.

SPIDERMONKEY (CONT'D)

(grinning, four eyes lighting up)

Hah. It's working. Kind of.

EXT. WAREHOUSE ROW — GROUND LEVEL — SIMULTANEOUS

Kevin and Gwen reach the base of the building Spidermonkey climbed. Gwen's scanner flickers oddly.

GWEN

(frowning at her readout)

Wait. I'm picking up a second energy signature. Smaller, but actively masking itself behind the first one's vibration pattern.

KEVIN

(tense)

Define "masking."

GWEN

(realization dawning, alarmed)

Like something's using the bigger creature's signal as cover. Ben — that thing you're talking to might not be the only thing up there.

ACT THREE

Up on the rooftop, Spidermonkey continues his halting vibration-conversation with the creature — until a SECOND, smaller, sleeker shape detaches from the shadows behind it, moving fast, clearly using the larger creature's bulk as a blind.

The smaller shape lunges — not at Spidermonkey, but at the large creature itself, sinking small, parasitic-looking barbs into its back.

SPIDERMONKEY

(alarmed)

Hey— !

The large creature SHRIEKS — a sound that vibrates the entire rooftop's webbing violently — as the smaller parasite-shape begins visibly draining a pale light from it, the creature's earlier curious chittering turning frantic, pained.

SPIDERMONKEY (CONT'D)

(grim, finally understanding)

Oh. OH. It's not the threat. It's the victim.

He lunges, slinging a web-line at the parasite to yank it off — but it's fast, skittering free, barbs retracting, clearly built for exactly this kind of hit-and-run feeding.

SPIDERMONKEY

(frustrated, watching it flee across the rooftops)

Great. Now I've gotta catch something faster than me, on a web I didn't build, while the actual victim's stuck untangling itself.

He glances at the Ultimatrix symbol, already flickering.

SPIDERMONKEY (CONT'D)

(determined)

Time to even the playing field.

[ULTIMATE TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE]

The Ultimatrix symbol on his chest SNAPS open, mechanical petals deploying. Spidermonkey's frame grows leaner, more armored, four arms becoming six, fur sleekening into something closer to chitinous plating, twin curved mandibles extending from his jaw, and a thicker, more reinforced web-spinneret emerging at each wrist.

BEN (AS ULTIMATE SPIDERMONKEY)

(voice sharper, more layered)

Ultimate Spidermonkey!

He doesn't chase directly — instead, all six limbs fire web-lines simultaneously in a wide net pattern across the rooftops ahead of the fleeing parasite, weaving an interception grid faster than the creature can route around.

The parasite, cornered by the sudden lattice of reinforced webbing, shrieks and tries to burrow sideways through a gap — only for Ultimate Spidermonkey to land directly in its path, having predicted the exact route through the web's own vibration feedback.

ULTIMATE SPIDERMONKEY

(calm, mandibles flexing)

Should've picked a rooftop I didn't already own.

He pins it cleanly with two extra limbs, careful not to crush it, while the other four secure a tight, escape-proof webbing wrap around its barbed limbs.

Behind him, the larger creature, freed from the parasite's drain, slumps weakly but alive, its earlier panicked chittering settling into something low and exhausted — grateful, in its own vibrating language.

ULTIMATE SPIDERMONKEY

(gently, to the larger creature)

Yeah. You're okay. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

TAG SCENE

EXT. INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT — LATER

Max Tennyson's Plumber van has arrived, the captured parasite secured in a containment unit. The larger web-creature, recovering, has been gently relocated by Plumber handlers to a transport crate lined with soft webbing of its own design. Ben, back to human, stands with Gwen and Kevin.

MAX

(examining the parasite through the containment glass)

Energy-draining arachnid parasite. Hitches a ride on bigger, web-building species, feeds quietly, moves on before anyone notices the host's been compromised. We've seen reports of this pairing before — just never this close to a populated area.

GWEN

So the web-builder really was just trying to build a home. The parasite was using its own signal to sneak around undetected.

BEN

(nodding)

And we almost wrote off the actual victim as the monster because it looked the part.

KEVIN

(arms crossed, a little sheepish)

In my defense, "web-and-climb thing" was a completely reasonable first guess.

BEN

(smirking)

Sure. Just maybe don't lead with "smash it" next time before we know who's actually doing the biting.

Max watches the recovering creature settle into its transport crate, calmer now, its remaining intact webbing glinting faintly under the streetlights.

MAX

(quietly)

We'll find it a proper habitat. Somewhere it can spin in peace.

Ben glances at the Ultimatrix — calm, green, ordinary again.

BEN

(half to himself)

Guess not every "villain" actually is one.

He turns, and the three head back toward Kevin's car as the Plumber van pulls away into the night.

FADE OUT.
