Battle Report: The Great Hero vs The Overlord

1. Introduction

This document aims to clarify the power levels displayed by the characters during the confrontation between Satoru and Mito. It does not seek to analyze the emotional background or narrative development, but rather to explain, in a technical and direct way, the scale of strength both possessed at that point in the story.

It is important to note that this text contains major spoilers up to Chapter 18, including specific details about the battle and the conditions under which both characters fought. It is recommended to read it only after reaching that point in the main story.

2. Power Evaluation: Satoru during the battle against Mito

At the time of his confrontation with Mito, Satoru had already surpassed level 100 within the YGGDRASIL system, although his effective strength at that moment remained comparable to that of a level 100 Overlord due to the natural limitations of his human form. Moreover, he did not take full advantage of his new potential, as he still lacked real experience in direct combat.

Throughout the fight, Satoru did not use any special equipment, relying solely on mid-level gear. This equipment was progressively destroyed during the battle, yet it did not significantly affect the outcome or the difference in power between the two.

In terms of the Death March system, Satoru's strength during this battle would be equivalent to a level above 180, considering the previously established conversion rate and the existence of his unique classes. Although defining an exact number is difficult, it can be safely stated that his power far exceeded that threshold.

3. Power Evaluation: Mito

Mito is, without question, the strongest hero in her world. Her real level is 89, and while this number may not seem extraordinary, it represents the highest point reached by any recorded hero.

As someone brought into this world, Mito is a particular case: she does not possess any "cheat" ability to aid her in combat, but in exchange, she reached the highest possible mastery of her skills. This made her both the highest-leveled hero and the most accomplished fighter among them.

Two main areas define her excellence: swordsmanship and nature magic. In the latter, she is one of the few confirmed individuals to have completely maxed out a skill without external assistance—something only Satou himself has managed to match. Her control was so refined that, even after reaching the maximum level, Satou admitted he did not possess her same precision.

Her swordsmanship is also exceptional, not only due to talent and dedication but also thanks to the strength granted by the [Hero] title, which enhances all her general abilities and martial arts. After defeating her respective Demon King, her title evolved into [Great Hero], further increasing her stats, combat prowess, and magical adaptability, solidifying her as the greatest individual force of her era.

Her overall magic surpasses even that of the Black Demon, a high-class demon, as she can cast far stronger blessings and boost her general stats by up to 500%.

She was summoned when she was in her early twenties, and although she still appears that age, she has consumed numerous rejuvenation potions and one that completely halted her aging. Even discounting the centuries she spent asleep, her real age should be around forty to fifty years old.

Thanks to all this, Mito also possesses a complete set of magical equipment, accumulated during the years she was active before her long slumber, as well as the allies she gathered during that time.

Considering her capabilities and the previously explained system comparison, Mito could be expected to individually defeat the Pleiades, with the exception of Narberal Gamma and Aureole Omega.

With that said, it becomes clear that, despite her strength and experience, she was still too weak to achieve what she did during her battle against Satoru.

4. Why Mito was able to fight Satoru

Before analyzing how Mito managed to resist Satoru, it is necessary to first understand how she defeated her respective Demon King, who was level 120.

Mito managed to close this power gap through several combined factors. The first was the natural advantage that Heroes possess over Demon Kings, along with the affinity of her magic and holy sword against demonic beings.

The second factor was the direct support of Akon Kagura, who at that time still retained her full divine power. Thanks to her, Mito received a significant boost of strength and divine guidance during the battle.

Her [Friendship] ability, which allows her to befriend anyone, was also essential. Through it, she gained the backing of multiple races, including a dragon who aided her directly in combat.

Mito also possessed a living armor back then—little is known about it, but it was clearly superior to her current equipment. Additionally, before her Demon King lost his sanity, they shared a close friendship, which likely influenced the battle's outcome.

It was the combination of all these factors—racial advantages, divine assistance, alliances, superior gear, and personal bonds—that allowed her to achieve victory.

However, during her confrontation with Satoru, Mito no longer possessed most of those advantages. Even so, she had gained several new ones. The holy sword she used against her Demon King was among the weakest, while the one she wielded against Satoru was the most powerful of all within this fanfic: a new creation of Akon, the strongest holy sword of her age.

It should be noted that, in this story, the most powerful canonical holy sword—Excalibur—is currently in Satoru's possession, as it was one of the treasures Akon had left to Satou.

Through her connections, Mito strengthened her power and mana with Akon's direct assistance, who personally enhanced her abilities. In addition, she made a pact with the dryads, granting her the ability to draw vitality from nature and constantly regenerate her HP.

As for her mana pool, holy swords act as massive mana batteries. Mito spent several days charging hers completely, which allowed her to cast her strongest spells repeatedly and amplify them far beyond their usual limits.

With all these improvements, Mito was considerably stronger than when she fought the Demon King. If compared to the Overlord system, her power at that time could be estimated around level 80. In practical terms, defeating Hans would have been her upper limit.

Other factors also helped her endure the fight: Satoru wanted to experience a real battle, and for that reason, he did not use his most destructive spells at the beginning. His lack of combat experience, combined with the fact that he had only existed for a few days at that point, gave Mito a window of opportunity that she exploited well.

Mito, in contrast, had decades of combat and war experience, which allowed her to keep pace even against a far superior opponent.

Even with all these advantages—and her elemental affinity in her favor—a level 80 Overlord can never defeat a level 100 Overlord. The gap remained too wide. Moreover, aside from her holy sword, Mito had no other equipment worthy of that level of power.

As an additional note, Satoru did not use instant-death magic during the fight. Even if he had, it would have been ineffective, as Mito possessed Akon's divine protection, which rendered her immune to that type of spell.

5. Conclusion

The confrontation between Satoru and Mito represents the clash between two entirely different power scales. Even at her absolute peak—with her [Great Hero] title, her ultimate holy sword, and the direct blessing of Akon Kagura—Mito could not match the structural power of a being like Satoru.

Satoru, though limited by his lack of experience, mid-tier equipment, and incomplete use of his full potential, remained far beyond the range that any hero from her world could ever reach.

In terms of approximate equivalence:

 - Death March System: Mito's power reached around level 130+, while Satoru stood at roughly level 180+.

 - Overlord System: Mito was around level 80, while Satoru was equivalent to level 100.

The difference did not lie in technique or determination but in the very nature of their systems and the scale of their existences. Mito managed to endure through skill, instinct, and divine aid, but her defeat was inevitable from the beginning.

Even so, her performance was far from meaningless: she forced Satoru to fight seriously—something no one had achieved up to that point. Her fall marked the end of one era and the beginning of another, as the world of Death March finally understood what it meant to face a true Overlord.

Author's Note

After publishing the battle between Satoru and Mito, I received a lot of support and messages from readers—more than in any previous chapter. Not only here, but also on other platforms where the story is shared.

This time, many people didn't just thank me for the update; they shared their thoughts about the fight itself, about Mito's role, and about how the battle unfolded. Seeing that kind of reaction honestly made me happy, and it encouraged me to prepare this document.

Its purpose is simple: to explain, in a technical way, the power levels of both characters and the factors that shaped the outcome of their confrontation.

If you've already read up to Chapter 18, this should help you better understand how that battle was structured and why it developed the way it did.
