Chapter 473 - Chapter 473: Dragon's Shadow Over Sorbet

Kaido's eyes narrowed as he stared intently at Rayleigh. "The Ancient Weapons... they're the only power left that could rival Admiral Rosen."

Shanks, having once served as an apprentice on the Roger Pirates, understood the implications better than anyone. The Ancient Weapons represented humanity's last hope against the overwhelming dominance of the Marines. If any force could break the Marine King's absolute rule, it would be these legendary weapons.

"I came to you because you know the location of Laugh Tale," Shanks said, his voice firm. "Because you know where the Ancient Weapons truly lie."

Rayleigh remained silent. He walked past the two former Emperors, his steps steady despite his age. There was no need for guides here—Wano Country was as familiar to him as the back of his hand. Every blade of grass, every district, every hidden path was etched into his memory.

Kaido caught the subtle movement and narrowed his eyes. "Wait... you're far too familiar with this land. More than you should be for a stranger."

He turned to Shanks, and the two exchanged a glance. The realization hit them simultaneously—the Ancient Weapons were in Wano Country.

Kaido's expression twisted. For years, he had possessed a treasure trove without realizing it. If he had known earlier, if he had defeated the other Emperors and claimed the title of Pirate King before Admiral Rosen's rise... before the Marines could become this monolithic force...

But it was too late. The Four Emperors were history now. He was just a stray dog clinging to Onigashima's ruins.

Sorbet Kingdom

Ginny sat on the beach sand, gently rocking a baby carriage. The sea breeze carried the scent of salt and tropical flowers, while the afternoon sun warmed her skin.

"Gah!"

Bonney cooed happily in her rocker, waving tiny arms and legs. For the first time in years, Ginny felt true peace—the kind she had only dreamed about.

Whoosh!

A sound cut through the air. Ginny tensed instinctively, then relaxed as she recognized the soft impact of a bubble landing on the beach.

A towering figure emerged from the haze—Bartholomew Kuma, the former Warlord, holding a Bible in one massive hand. Despite his imposing stature and the fear he once inspired, his expression softened as his eyes fell on Ginny and Bonney.

"Bartholomew Kuma," Ginny smiled. "Welcome back."

"Are you and Bonney alright?" Kuma's voice was gentle, a stark contrast to the "Tyrant Bear" moniker he carried.

"You were only gone for two days," Ginny teased, though warmth filled her chest at his concern.

"Two days is too long," Kuma replied, his gaze fixed on the sleeping child. "Mr. Tesoro was right—I wasted too much time on other matters. I won't make that mistake again."

In the past, Kuma had wanted to change the world—to fight the World Government's tyranny, to create a free and peaceful world. He and Ginny had both joined the Revolutionary Army for that cause.

But after everything they'd endured, after reuniting with Ginny and discovering he had a daughter, his priorities had shifted. The revolution could wait. His family came first.

"Is Admiral Rosen well?" Ginny asked. "And Gion? And Mr. Tesoro?"

"They're fine," Kuma said, walking to the carriage. He looked down at Bonney with an expression of pure affection. "They sent gifts."

He raised a hand, and another bubble-shaped like a bear's paw—descended from the sky, landing beside the house with a soft pop.

Ginny gasped. Golden light reflected in her eyes—a mountain of toys, all crafted from pure gold. A rocking horse, building blocks, a bicycle, countless other treasures.

"Mr. Tesoro couldn't attend Bonney's birthday personally," Kuma explained. "With the Four Emperors gone, the New World islands require his attention. Skynet surveillance, new naval bases, commercial operations—he's managing it all. But he sent these instead."

Ginny stared at the golden pile, understanding the gesture. The Gold Emperor, the world's richest man, treating her daughter like his own.

Bonney's eyes widened at the dazzling sight, her little mouth forming a perfect 'O' of surprise.

"See?" Kuma smiled. "Uncle Tesoro may not be here, but this is enough for a lifetime. When she learns to speak, she'll thank him herself."

Ginny understood the unspoken message—neither Rosen nor Tesoro visited the Sorbet Kingdom to avoid suspicion. Even though both she and Kuma had left the Revolutionary Army, the world remained volatile. Their absence ensured her family's peace.

"Mr. Rosen asked me to give you this," Kuma reached into his pocket and withdrew a simple-looking talisman.

"Bonney should wear it," Kuma said. "It will protect her from illness and misfortune."

Ginny's breath caught. She already cherished the talisman Rosen had given her years ago. Now, with Rosen's power rising to Admiral level and beyond, this charm carried immense protective significance.

Especially for the Jade Scale disease.

Ginny carefully tied the talisman around Bonney's tiny neck. The Jade Scale was hereditary—if Bonney inherited it, the talisman would shield her from suffering as Ginny had.

"Whenever Admiral Rosen has time," Ginny said, her voice thick with emotion, "tell him we'd like to thank him personally."

Kuma nodded. He understood perfectly.

The Storm Arrives

The family's peaceful moment shattered as wind howled across the beach. Sand and dust whipped into the air.

"Ginny," Kuma's voice remained calm. "Take Bonney inside."

Ginny nodded, understanding dawning. She lifted the carriage and hurried inside as the door slammed shut behind her.

A tornado descended from the sky, and from its center emerged a figure cloaked in dark green.

"You've come," Kuma said, his tone distant.

"Monkey D. Dragon." The Revolutionary Army leader lowered his hood, revealing a fierce face adorned with red tattoos, eyebrows completely absent.

"It's been a long time," Dragon said, his voice carrying the weight of his ambition. "I thought we were still friends, Kuma."

"We are," Kuma replied, clutching his Bible. "But friendship has boundaries."

Dragon's eyes narrowed. The Revolutionary Army was in dire straits. The Marines, under Admiral Rosen's command, had achieved overwhelming dominance. The Four Emperors were broken, the Seven Warlords collared as watchdogs, and even the World Government hesitated to confront Rosen directly.

In this new world order, Kuma's strength was invaluable to the Revolutionary Army.

"Kuma," Dragon's voice lowered. "The Revolutionary Army needs you."

"I chose Ginny and Bonney," Kuma said firmly. "That choice is final."

"Do you remember why you joined us?" Dragon pressed. "To build a free, equal world where everyone can dream without chains."

"I remember," Kuma nodded. "And I believe in that cause."

A flicker of hope crossed Dragon's face, but it vanished in the next moment.

"But let me ask you this," Kuma's voice remained steady. "What if the one who builds that free world isn't you? What if the one who destroys the World Government and ends aristocratic rule isn't the Revolutionary Army?"

Dragon's expression darkened completely.

Kuma continued, his tone devoid of anger or resentment, only calm certainty. "Admiral Rosen and Mr. Tesoro knew exactly who I was—who we were. By staying away, they gave Ginny and me the freedom to choose without pressure. They gave us the choice to not choose."

Dragon remained silent.

"Your dream is to build a better world," Kuma said. "Your ambition is to be the one who builds it. That's where we differ."

"Those are the same thing!" Dragon's voice rose.

"No," Kuma shook his head. "A dream can be realized by anyone. Ambition demands that you be the one to achieve it. That's why Admiral Rosen has succeeded where others failed—he doesn't cling to titles or glory. He builds what needs to be built, with or without recognition."

Dragon's jaw tightened. He had come to recruit Kuma, to bring him back into the fold. Instead, he found himself facing the cold reality of his own limitations.

"Admiral Rosen is creating a world where Marines protect people without the World Government's corruption," Kuma continued. "Where justice isn't dictated by the Celestial Dragons. If that world comes to pass... is it still your revolution? Or is it his justice?"

The wind howled, but neither man moved.

"Kuma," Dragon said finally. "The Revolutionary Army—"

"Is a necessary force," Kuma interrupted. "But it is not the only force. And it may not be the final one."

Silence stretched between them.

"I can't return to the Revolutionary Army," Kuma said. "My fight was never against Marines who truly protect people. It was against corruption and cruelty. If Admiral Rosen is building a better world, I will watch from the sidelines. If he fails... then perhaps the revolution will have its moment."

Dragon stared at his former ally, seeing not a traitor, but a man who had found peace in an impossible world.

Without another word, the Revolutionary leader turned. The wind rose again, carrying him away into the darkening sky.

Kuma watched him go, then turned to the house. Behind the door, Ginny and Bonney waited—his world, his purpose, his choice.

The Marines had won. The Revolution was stalling. And Admiral Rosen continued his ascent, building an empire of justice that would either save the world or become its next tyrant.

Only time would tell which.
