The police ensured the safety of everyone in the hospital first, before they opened the gates for everyone who wanted to leave.
Meredith found Zack. She didn't say a word until they had crossed the gate..
"Where is Mrs Aveline?" Zack kept on asking.
It took all of Meredith's will power not to say anything.
As they crossed the gate, her eyes locked with a police officer who was checking inside the cars with his eyes.
A shudder ran through her, but she managed to keep it together.
They passed through, but after driving for a little while, Zack could no longer stand the silence.
When he had been called upon in the morning, it was to be informed he needed to drop off Aveline, and Meredith at the hospital.
Not Meredith alone, but both of them.
He had done exactly that, so it made no sense to him why he was leaving without one.
"Miss Meredith, I am not comfortable driving you alone when I don't know the whereabouts of Mrs Aveline," he said, pulling Meredith out of her head.
