Chapter 46 - Men in black, who are they

Little did Wren know that the men whom she thought were weak, actually did faint after inhaling the smoke. Instead they got furious for being poisoned.

They came out one after the other with the bus driver held by one man in black. "Where is the girl you picked," The man in black asked, slapping the driver relentlessly. The driver's face contorted in pain as the slaps landed, his eyes welling up with tears. "I don't know," He cried bitterly, the slaps that rained on his cheeks, were bitter and painful. It was like being struck by a hot iron straight from the fire.

The man's anger seemed to grow with each passing moment, his face twisted in a snarl. "You don't know really, then break his limbs until he speaks," the man presumed as the leader ordered, his voice cold and menacing. The other men moved to comply, their faces expressionless. "No, no, please don't hurt me," the driver begged, his voice shaking with fear.

The leader's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "Find her," he barked, his voice carrying through the forest. The men scattered, moving swiftly and silently through the trees. Meanwhile, Wren watched the scene and felt absolutely nothing. She wanted to feel sorry for the man who took her fall, but she couldn't. She had no time for sentimentality, not when her life was on the line.

But she couldn't also watch the scene as her time was tight, but she also wanted to pay back the men who wasted her time. Now that they were reduced in numbers, she started shooting arrows from all directions using her flexible bow in her back. Each arrow hit its target, and soon many men in black fell like rice, their bodies crumpling to the ground.

Having killed everyone, Wren emerged from the bushes and approached the man who was reeling from the shock of how everyone laid dead before him. Catching the glimpse of Wren, he felt death walking towards him. "Please don't kill me," He muttered, his voice barely audible. But Wren stared mockingly at him, her eyes glinting with amusement.

"You are not worthy of my arrows," she said, her voice dripping with disdain. "I want you to drive as fast as you can to the city center, and whatever you do, don't stop driving. Or you would taste my blade." Wren hit at the shining dagger she held, the metal glinting in the dim light. The man shook, his eyes fixed on the blade.

The man nodded frantically, his face pale. "I won't stop, I won't stop," he repeated, his voice shaking. Wren's gaze lingered on him for a moment, before she nodded. "Good," she said, her voice cold. "Now get in the bus and drive."

The man scrambled to obey, his movements swift and jerky. Wren watched him go, her eyes narrowing slightly. She knew she had to be careful, that one misstep could mean capture or worse. But for now, she had the upper hand.

Having had her mission completed, Wren entered the bus, and paid the bus driver his fees of 10,000 liquidity, which was a big amount for a trip. The driver's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't question further, his gratitude evident. "Thank you, thank you," he muttered, his hands shaking as he took the payment.

Wren's gaze was unreadable, her expression neutral. "Just drive," she said, her voice firm. The driver nodded, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He started the engine, and the bus pulled away from the curb, leaving the carnage behind. Wren settled back in her seat, her eyes fixed on the road ahead, her mind already racing with the next step in her plan.
