Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: The First Step

The night after the triplets' grand birthday celebration, Vyomtara Manor rested under a sky softened by quiet silver clouds. The laughter, music, and warm glow of lanterns had faded into memory, leaving the corridors wrapped in a gentle stillness. Cool mountain air drifted in through half-open windows, carrying with it the kind of peace that visits only after a joyful day.

In the nursery, the triplets slept close together in their cradle—three tiny chests rising and falling in a rhythm only they shared. Their fingers occasionally brushed one another, as though even in dreams they refused to be apart.

But the heavens above Dhara-Loka were different tonight.

The moon, usually pale and calm, shimmered with a rare golden radiance. Its warm glow slipped through the nursery window and spread across the wooden floor before settling upon the cheeks of the sleeping boys.

The moment the golden light touched their skin, the children stirred.

Aditya giggled softly, rubbing his eyes with a tiny fist.

Sasi stretched with a small yawn, blinking up at the shimmering room.

Aryan, quiet and observant, touched the cradle's edge and stared at the glowing moon as though recognizing something familiar.

A gentle warmth filled the nursery.

Then, something remarkable happened.

For the very first time since their birth…the triplets stood—firmly and steadily.

No wobbling. No slipping.Their feet touched the floor with surprising confidence.

Drawn by an unseen calmness, they toddled toward the window where the golden moonlight gathered like a warm pool. Side by side, the boys pressed their palms together and whispered:

"Omm…"

The sacred vibration flowed through the quiet nursery, soft and pure.

The moonlight wrapped around them like a gentle embrace. Sleep returned soon after, and instead of going back to their cradle, they curled up together beneath the glowing window, their breathing falling into perfect harmony once more.

That was how the maids found them at dawn.

"E–Eh!? How did the young masters end up here!?" one maid gasped.

"They were sleeping in the cradle—I'm certain!" another whispered.

The triplets blinked awake.

Sasi lifted his arms to be carried.

Aditya tried to stand again, wobbling adorably.

Aryan held onto his blanket, still half lost in sleep.

The maids exchanged helpless smiles. After a warm bath, the boys were wrapped in soft, herb-scented clothes.

Lady Elaria entered just as they finished dressing, her eyes glowing with affection.

"My precious little ones," she whispered, kissing each forehead. "Come. Breakfast is waiting."

Morning sunlight filled the dining hall with a golden glow. The triplets sat in their tiny carved chairs, sipping warm cow milk happily. Now one year and two months old, their speech had become clearer—yet still adorably imperfect.

Aditya pointed proudly at his cup. "Miwk!"

Sasi clapped excitedly toward the fruit bowl. "Fwu-its!"

Aryan attempted "grandfather," but it came out as "Gwan-pa," causing the entire table to burst into laughter.

Even the usually stoic Duke Varesh couldn't stop smiling.

Achintya tapped his chest proudly. "Yes, little one. Gwan-pa is here."

The hall filled with warm voices, gentle laughter, and the sweet sounds of childhood.

Days passed peacefully. The boys grew more curious, more expressive, and—naturally—more mischievous.

Then came a bright afternoon that would be remembered fondly for years.

The triplets toddled into the main hall where their grandmother, Lady Sarvani, sat stitching a delicate handkerchief. A basket of colorful wool rested beside her—crimson, saffron, turquoise, emerald—all neatly arranged.

That was the beginning of the chaos.

Sasi grabbed a turquoise wool ball and waddled away, giggling.

Aryan followed the rolling thread with fascination, touching it gently.

Aditya picked up a crimson ball and threw it with surprising force, watching it bounce across the hall.

Within moments, the entire hall was covered in wool. Bright strands crossed the floor like playful ribbons, looping around chair legs, stretching under tables, and weaving themselves into an accidental labyrinth.

Sarvani blinked in confusion.

"Eh…? Where has all my wool gone?"

The maids hurried over, following the long trail until it led to a small storage cupboard. The door was slightly open.

Sarvani knelt down and pushed it open—then burst into laughter.

Inside were the three boys, tangled head-to-toe in colorful wool.

Aryan had strands stuck in his hair like tiny vines.

Sasi giggled uncontrollably as a thread tickled his nose.

Aditya tried to crawl out, only getting himself more tangled.

"Oh, my little whirlwinds…" Sarvani said, wiping tears of amusement.

She gently lifted them out one by one, brushing wool from their hair, arms, and chubby cheeks. The triplets clung to her happily, innocent and affectionate.

"No more hiding in cupboards, alright?" she said softly.

The boys nodded—though with the kind of nod that meant they understood nothing at all.

Warm laughter, soft giggles, and the rustle of wool filled the hall.

As the sun dipped low and the sky turned amber, the triplets rested peacefully in their grandmother's arms. Vyomtara Manor quieted once more, wrapped in the serene glow of evening.

And the day ended quietly, with warm hearts, gentle breaths, and sleepy smiles.
