Chapter
One: The Map. 1.
National District, Utopia, 0100, 04/17/1046
A.T.C..
A battle raged on as a Covert Team navigated through the trenches and rubble of the battlefield.
"Alright, what were after should be in that building over there. Luckily for us, it hasn't been struck yet. It's a matter of time though, so we need to hurry!" A soldier commanded.
A girl walked in between the group, not quite paying attention. "Em, no wandering off this time. We can't wait around this time. I mean look around" The soldier gestured.
Live fire rained in the skies above.
"Yeah, yeah, Dick. I hear you loud and clear." Em replied sarcastically.
"Emily, I am not joking, This is escalating every second-"
"I heard you….Dickhead." Emily firmly stated.
Dickhead grunted as he accepted her
statement. He looked around at his team.
"So how exactly are we going to get
through that?" another soldier asked and pointed at the roaring battlefield
that is blocking them from their destination.
"Like this!" Emily yelled out and
disappeared into a concrete pipe.
Dickhead stood shocked "What did
I just?" he let out. He then watched across the battlefield hoping to see Emily. A moment passed and he then saw her somehow come out to the other side.
"how in the-?" Dickhead muttered.
Dickhead could see Emily motioning to
follow her lead. Dickhead then commanded the team to follow, but then an explosion rang out and flames aired out of the pipe Em disappeared in.
Dickhead then looked across the street
again, and saw Emily shocked.
"Well that sucks! I'm going to go ahead and try and find it! You guys meet me there!" Emily called out, hoping that her team could hear her.
Emily then opened the door of the
compound. The door made a very loud creak as it hasn't been opened in a very
long time. "Whoa, the place is awesome." Emily gasped in awe. She walked around
and took in her surroundings. A statue of a man with a bow and arrow was stationed in between the two spiral staircases.
"Well the report said what we are looking for is in a bunker underground so, the way isnt up there." Emily muttered to herself as she searched for a entrance to the corridors below.
Emily shuffled along the walls but found nothing. "Guess up is the only way down." Emily said as she made her way up the staircase, to the floor it ked to. What she saw shocked her. A plaza was tucked in the insides of the maim entrance hall. She treaded along, hoping to find a lab. She figured once she got to the lab, the entrance to the bunker couldn't be far off.
She wandered deeper into the compound. Weapon raised as she doesn't know what to expect. Then she found what she was looking for: the labs. She entered the labs, which a lot of the glass had already been smashed. Plantlife even had begun to really overcome the compound. The building had long been abandoned, but has remained untouched for unknown reasons. Emily looked around and her face lit up when she saw the giant vault door plastered in the wall. "Well. This is easier than I expected." Emily
said as she pulled explosives out of her backpack.
Back across the battlefield Dickhead was still trying to figure out how to cross the no man's Land. "Sir! Neither side would know we are coming! We could ambush either side and cross there!" a soldier suggested.
"That is a horrible idea! We don't know how many men would be waiting for us! That is a suicide mission, Taz!" Dickhead said. A missile the spiraled towards the compound.
"No! Emily!" Taz yelped out. Instead the missile bounced off a blue tinted barrier and exploded in the rubble between the team and the compound.
"Holy shit! So that's how it's still standing!" another soldier said. Dickhead evaluated the aftermath.
"look! The explosion gave us a path! What luck! But we would have to be fast!" Dickhead commanded and pointed at the
metal, rock, and rubble giving them a more or less clean path across.
Dickhead took off, choosing to be the test
dummy. He made it to the first covering, bullets flying above his head. He then
motioned for the rest of his team to follow. Dickhead led the team across the street.
Dickhead was waiting guiding his team to safety, when he heard the revving of a
vehicle approaching.
"oh no" Dickhead sighed to himself as
he saw the Vehicle come over the hill. "Choa!"he yelled! The last person to cross was mid sprint when he was ripped to
pieces by the gunner opening fire.
The vehicle then turned to approach the restof the team.
"oh, Fuck you!" Dickhead yelled angrily as he grabbed a weapon That was attached to his back. He fired the weapon and it let out a massive energy beam that completely incinerated the truck and it's inhabitants.
"Sir, I Hope it was worth it. We only
have 3 more uses before its depleted." Taz informed.
"They killed Choa. Of course it was
worth it." Dickhead said as he turned around to enter the building.
What was left of the vault door lay behind Emily as she walked to the elevator that would take her deeper into the bunker. She pressed the button in hopes of it being functional. Nothing. "Well Damn. Guess I'll have to do it the hard way." She said as she tossed a explosive onto the elevator and ran to take cover.
The bomb exploded and the Elevator cab
crumbled and fell down into the shaft below. Emily walked up to the ledge and looked into the abyss. "Well, here goes nothing." She said and simply leaped.
Emily screamed in enjoyment as she fell.
But then she narrowly dodged part of the elevator cab that had stuck itself into the wall on its descent. "holy cheeseburger on a merry go round. That was close." Emily said as she positioned to activate her boots.
The blasters shot out of her boots which slowed her decent. She simply landed at the bottom. "See. No problem. " Emily cockily says as she enters the bunker.
Dickhead Jones leads the rest
of the team throughout the compound.
"No sign of her, captain." Taz announced. The team has been searching every room thoroughly. The building shook as the force field was struck again. The glass awning shattered and fell. The group ran to get cover.
The glass crumbled as it all hit the
ground. The team came out of hiding and looked up. They then began their search. This is when soldiers repelled down and surrounded them.
"Great. What now?" Dickhead said.
"Silence." One of the soldiers firmly said. "I mean we're surrou-" Dickhead
blabbered.
"I SAID SILEEEEEEEENCE! KASSINGER'S WILL DEMANDS IT!" The soldier yelled.
Dickhead and Taz look at the soldier and
then at each other. "Is he talking to me?" Dickhead asked. "I think he was. People
need to learn some manners."
The Soldier began walking towards The
team, feet thumping on the ground as the soldier walked. "For the last Ti-" the
Soldier began saying but was interrupted by Dichead's fist colliding into the
soldier's nose.
The rest of the team took action and dismantled the opposing team with ease. The Angry soldier shuffled away from Dickhead. "Okay. So you're going to tell us where the rest of you're team is." Dickhead said as he grabbed his pistol and insinuated that he would use it.
The soldier laughed "It doesn't matter, they're already down there." The soldier retorted. Dickhead angrily bashed the soldier in the face with the butt of his gun. "We have to go! Hansel will kill us if we lose Em!" Dickhead ordered.
Emily frantically searched the bunker. She shuffled through boxes and crates searching for the artifact. She sat on the ground, at a complete loss. This is when she saw a picture hanging on the wall. She ran over to try and get it down.
After some struggling Emily managed to get the picture down. She took out the documents to compare it with the symbol that was stamped the frame. Emily then took the picture and shattered it on the ground. She picked up the contents.
"I will be taking that." A female's voice behind Emily. Emily stood up to face the intruder. The woman held out her hand as she approached. Soldiers were posted, aiming their weapons directly at Emily. "Come on, kid. Just hand it over." The woman said. Emily stood shocked as she realized who she was speaking to.
"You're Missy Rahn. Kassinger's
personal assassin." Emily replied.
"Good. My reputation precedes me. Come
on. Hand it over." Missy demanded.
Emily slowly stuck something in her pocket as she raised to hand over the contents of the picture. A missile struck the barrier and the entire building shook. The impact caused Emily to drop the papers and that scattered across the floor. Em took her chance and tried to escape, but Missy hit her in the kidney and held her at gun point.
"Oh? What's this?" Missy asked as she pulled something out of Em's pocket. "Hiding things from me are we?"
Emily grunted as she lunged at Missy. Em was slammed to the ground from one of the soldiers stomping his foot on Emily's chest. "Quite the place they have here. It's a wonder what it was used for." Missy rambled. Emily stared at Missy, not saying a word. "Now, what is this?" Missy said as she began to unfold the paper.
Another missile hit the barrier and Emily
once again tried to lunge at Missy, but was once again slammed into the ground. "Godammit!" Missy let out. She angrily stood over Emily. "Try that again, and I
will put you down!" she spat pointing her finger in Emily's face with each
word.
"Try it!" a voice called out.
Dickhead stood with a weapon in hand, the opposing team begin to react but had no time. The weapon let out a since boom in which sent everyone on to their backs. Emily quickly got up and sprintef to Missy and snatched the map from her fingers. Emily was sure to kick her in the face, knocking her clean out, and she made her escape.
The two teams opened fire om each other. Emily ran for her life to reach cover. Dickhead grabbed Emily as she leapt
to get out of range of the firefight. Dickhead positioned her safely against the pillar. "What did I say about Wandering off?" Dickhead yelled. "I'm sorry, I thought-" Emily pleaded. "I think we will talk about this later! " Dickhead said as he opened fire.
One of Dickhead's operatives shot a grenade that exploded just under the ceiling, which in turn caused it to cave in, giving Emily and her friends a window to escape.
The team ran down the hallways in which Emily came. "So how exactly do you plan to get back up? " Emily asked.
"What do you mean? The way we came down! The stairs!" Taz replied. "THERE WERE STAIRS?!" Emily yelped out as the info annoyed her because of what she had to do to get down to the bunker. "Go! Go! Go!" Dickhead ushered as he held to door to the stairs open.
Emily followed her friends out of the compound and waited under the door way. The battle has escalated exponentially. "Donkey to Shark, we need immediate E-vac. I repeat. Immediate E-Vac." Dickhead
said into a communications device. "Copy, E-Vac is enroute. Stand By for Pick-up" a voice said over the speaker.
A moment passed and a aircraft landed
right in front of the compound. Another missile was fired and was headed directly towards the Aircraft. A soldier pointed this tool and the missile simply lost it's path and collided with the force field. This time the entire roof of the compound caved in. The team ran to board the aircraft. Soldier
motioned as they ushered Emily and her friends onto the aircraft.
The aircraft lifted from the ground. Both sides of the battle began to focus on the aircraft but the pilot managed to escape safely.
"What did I say about Wandering off? You could have died! What were you thinking!" Dickhead nagged.
"I was thinking I could save time! I don't
know how long it would've taken for you to get across! I went to complege the mission!" Emily pleaded.
"it is against protocol! If I wasn't there
to save you-" Dickhead began.
"But I didn't. I got it!" Emily spat.
"Well you still should've-"
"Well there wasn't Time! There wasn't
time. We barely made it out! You should be thanking me!" Emily stated.
"We will just have to leave this
up to Hansel." Dickhead said.
"Fine." Emily said and sat
silent.
