It was a valid question he was asking considering it would be more beneficial for Russel to kill and revive it or simply kill it for the EXP. While taming it was similar it did not have the benefits of recruitment.

This was the conversation that was going on in Russel's mind while he was logging out.
'Seriously R, the way you asked was so cringe. I thought the wolf would say no due to sheer cringeness.'
" It wasn't that cringe. But... R?"

'Yes, that was all I could think of. Your name is difficult to shorten'
Azrael continued talking while Russel getting out of the pod.
"That reminds me has this body practiced martial arts or any fighting styles?"
'Reason for you to ask that ?'
" The fight just now. It felt like I had this weird instinct. Also I was a hopeless Shut-in in my past life, so even in this merged status my old body's stat contributions should be low but all of my stats are in the twenties. So martial arts."
'Yeah he did ' Azrael finally said with a sigh.
"See was that so hard to admit? So why can't I remember them"
"When I gave you Russel's memories I didn't give you all of them. Giving you them would completely merge your soul with the soul of the individual Russel von Eldritch. Which would greatly benefit you when you achieve your divine pathway, considering it is one of the conditions for some pathways. But it would be traumatising you could say."
" Why would it be traumatising and What even is a divine pathway?"
"A divine pathway is a sort of evolution path to godhood."
" So you're saying I can become a literal god?!" Russel exclaimed shocked." So every human can become God?"
" Every human who obtains faith of other beings can become a God. This is very simple for you due to your class. The soldiers under you don't simply see you as their commander they see you as their God."
" That's a bit over the top viewing, me as a God. But it's beneficial I guess." Russel continued" So why did you call Russel's memories traumatic?"
"You'll see. I'll give you some help and allow your mental skills to be used in reality as well"Azrael replied.
That was the only warning he got before memories rushed in.
