Chapter 359 - LOD Chapter 357: The Remains of the Ancient God

Watching the Duke disappear behind the light blue Door, "Deep Blue Officiant" Randall Valentinus no longer lingered and immediately rode the strong winds away.

A golden halo enveloped Riddell, turning into a translucent film to prevent prying from the strange creatures of the Spirit World. Guided by the seven clear lights suspended at the highest point of the Spirit World, Aaron shuttled towards a certain direction.

The essence of the "Traveler's Door" is Spirit World travel that can sense the outside world and self-locate. Therefore, Beyonders of different Sequences, due to the varying strength of their spiritual bodies, can endure different transmission times, and the effect and distance of Spirit World travel also vary significantly.

Even with Aaron's current Sequence, crossing half of Loen to the Church of the Evernight Goddess in the easternmost Winter County would take some time, not to mention bringing an unconscious senior deacon.

If he were to summon the historical projection of the "Crown of Stars" and use the recorded scene of the Church of the Evernight Goddess, he could directly self-exile and arrive in an instant. However, that was, after all, a Holy Hall, and the sudden arrival of high-level power could easily be mistaken for an invasion, triggering an unknown counterattack from the Church.

The passage of time in the Spirit World is extremely blurred. Aaron finally stopped before a vague, deep area, like an abstract night sky.

Without entering directly, Aaron chanted the honorific name of the Evernight Goddess in ancient Hermes, until ripples appeared in that deep, abstract night sky before he slowly stepped in.

What came into view was a black Gothic church with a spire, standing solitarily in the snow-covered mountains, occupying a vast area.

After leaving the Spirit World, Aaron appeared on the broken cliff in front of the church, quiet and empty, a vast expanse of white, without a sound.

This was the headquarters of the Church of the Evernight Goddess, the Church of the Evernight Goddess, commonly known as the Holy Hall among the Nighthawks.

Senior Deacon Crestet Cesimir, with his collar raised high, covering his chin and lips, walked out. He carefully took the unconscious and dying Riddell, checked his injuries, and then drew a crimson moon on his chest, speaking in a low voice:

"Praise the Goddess, Mr. Chosen. Ms. Arianna is waiting for you."

Aaron took out the "Eye of Rusco" enveloped by Arianna's emblem, having already sensed the anchor's aura. He nodded in response:

"The matter at St. Lovett Church has been investigated. It was Ince Zangwill's sneak attack using that Sealed Artifact 0-08.

"Not only did he steal Riddell's Sealed Artifact Sequence 1, but he also corrupted him with the evil god's blood tainted with the True Creator's pollution. I only removed the surface pollution to prevent the injuries from worsening. The rest is up to the Pontiff."

Crestet Cesimir had only received a message from Ms. Arianna to wait here, and only now did he know what exactly happened in Sivellaus County. His expression quickly turned grim.

After thanking Aaron again, he immediately rushed deeper into the church with Riddell.

Looking at the black monastery with its wide-open door, Aaron did not linger. He passed through the hallway adorned with various religious murals and arrived at the innermost hall. His spirituality was stirred, and he unconsciously raised his head.

The hall was shrouded in Darkness, blurring distance and boundaries, silent and peaceful. The only light came from the magnificent statue in the very center, as if from a high-hanging Crimson Moon or stars.

She wore a layered yet uncomplex dark gown, adorned with countless brilliant points, as if the Cosmos night sky was draped upon her.

Her head was indistinct, as if veiled by the night, difficult to see clearly, only confirming that she was female.

Unlike other churches of the Church of the Evernight Goddess, which usually used the Dark Sacred Emblem to represent the deity, as the Holy Hall, the deepest part of the Church of the Evernight Goddess contained a complete statue of the deity in human form.

Below the statue knelt a female figure wearing a simple linen robe, a bark belt, long black hair, and no shoes or socks.

The leader of the Church of the Evernight Goddess's Ascetics, the Grounded Angel Arianna!

This Servant of Concealment knelt in the quietly rippling Darkness, giving a very unreal feeling. Even though she sensed Aaron's arrival, her posture did not change at all.

As soon as he entered the hall, Aaron felt a power reviving on the statue, accompanied by a gradual settling and tranquility of body and mind, as if entering a semi-dreamlike state.

Already somewhat enlightened, Aaron bowed slightly towards the statue with a more devout posture, drew a crimson moon on his chest, and said respectfully in a soft voice:

"Praise You, great Lady of Crimson!"

A faint glow appeared on the statue's face, as if endowing it with life, and a soft voice, like a lullaby, sounded:

"Hand this Sealed Artifact to Klein Moretti..."

The Arianna emblem originally attached to the "Eye of Rusco" automatically detached and disappeared, along with an invisible restraint. The bloodstained eyeball instantly deepened, and even Aaron's thoughts were slightly sluggish for a moment.

Recovering, he looked at the deep eyeball with a strange gaze, feeling that the aura of this Sealed Artifact was much stronger than when he first took it from outside Chanis Gate. He instinctively reached out and grasped it.

Flegrea... Layers of murmuring sounds suddenly echoed, and obscure images flashed by. Aaron looked at the Evernight Goddess's projection, somewhat speechless, and whispered:

"This, wouldn't it be too risky?"

The soft voice dispelled the layered murmuring, and dense Darkness surged with it:

"That is merely Flegrea's remnant body after her fall. In the Third Epoch, it fell into Antigonus's hands along with The Fool's Uniqueness. The contained mad will has been completely worn away."

"Although it does not contain the corresponding Beyonder characteristic, its inherent Beyonder Sequence is high enough, and in the hands of a specific person, it will play a far greater role than an ordinary Sealed Artifact Sequence 1."

"After the complete destruction of the 'Nation of the Evernight', this ancient god's eye was stored in Sivellaus County, and those believers gave it a new name."

Flegrea's eyeball? Such a big background?

Hmm, according to the Beyonder characteristic conservation, the eyeball must have originally contained Beyonder characteristics, but it was probably inherited and digested by Antigonus.

However, even so, besides being unable to divine the corresponding potion formula from it, it is at least equivalent to an enhanced The Fool card, and perhaps even has other uses....

Aaron's thoughts churned. Speaking of ancient god remnants, he himself had one. The head of the Giant King Aurmir was now in his hands.

And unlike this "Eye of Rusco" which was only a shell, that head contained a Beyonder characteristic of Sequence 2, Glory.

It was a pity that Aurmir's resentment at the time of his death was too deeply integrated with that characteristic, and it would take some time to completely separate the two.

Quickly suppressing the thoughts in his mind, Aaron released the "Eye of Rusco" and asked cautiously:

"What about the Church then...?"

At least for now, this Sealed Artifact Sequence 1 was temporarily under his supervision. If it disappeared without reason, he would at least have to explain the reason to the other Archbishops and senior deacons of the Church.

The Evernight Goddess's projection said in a calm tone:

"This Sealed Artifact will henceforth be permanently stored behind Chanis Gate in the Church of the Evernight Goddess, sealed personally by Arianna."

At this point, the Evernight Goddess paused, her tone carrying some inexplicable meaning:

"If Klein Moretti can be promoted to Senior Deacon within the Church, the Holy Artifact he will control will be this one."

Aaron lowered his head slightly, concealing the unusual look in his eyes. He had originally thought that letting Klein develop freely was a common agreement reached by the Evernight Goddess and Adam. Now it seemed that the Goddess had merely observed silently without interference when dealing with Tingen.

Including the mermaid who had long been kept in captivity and the "Nation of the Evernight" which had been completely wiped out, the Evernight Goddess had already meticulously arranged every step for Klein, or rather, the next lucky person cast by Sefirah Castle, within the Church.

As soon as he thought of this, Aaron's expression slightly froze. Sefirah Castle had only cast three transmigrators so far, and the Evernight Goddess was the first and the one most aligned with the Lord of the Mysteries' original resurrection plan.

It was a pity that under the interference of God Almighty's hidden moves, although she descended as a Demonic Wolf, she did not obtain The Fool Pathway wielded by "Annihilation Demonic Wolf" Flegrea, but rather the Darkness Pathway corresponding to the River of Eternal Darkness.

And after that, Sefirah Castle's casting seemed to have been paused, perhaps due to a problem with Sefirah Castle itself, or perhaps the Ancient Sun God, who wielded the Error Uniqueness at the time, was interfering.

The Ancient Sun God, half a pillar in the Fourth Epoch, fell, and Sefirah Castle remained silent, which was the influence Adam made by leveraging Amon's half of Error and Antigonus's half of The Fool to strongly aggregate Sefirah Castle.

The destruction of the "Nation of the Evernight" and the sealing of 0-08 by the Church of the Evernight Goddess were the Evernight Goddess's responses, and the appearance of Roselle was more like a goodwill gesture released by Adam.

After a long period of vying for interests, pressured by the apocalypse, the two sides finally reached a final consensus on certain disagreements, which led to Klein's appearance.

After clarifying his thoughts, Aaron slightly turned his head, looking at the huge, seemingly living statue. He opened his mouth but did not ask his final question, as that would be tantamount to revealing the Evernight Goddess's identity as a transmigrator.

It wasn't until the sense of tranquility that permeated his body and mind disappeared that Ms. Arianna, who had been kneeling beneath the statue, slowly rose. Looking at Aaron, who seemed about to say something, she spoke first:

"I am aware of the events in Sivellaus County. The seal in the underground ruins was not broken, but the Red Angel evil spirit inside has escaped."

"However, given the evil spirit's current state, it should be parasitizing Ince Zangwill within the Underworld."

Aaron nodded, implicitly agreeing with Arianna's statement, and then recounted Archbishop Randolph Carter's thoughts and concerns from before he left Sivellaus County.

Ms. Arianna's expression remained unchanged, calm and indifferent, without even the slightest hint of anger. After a moment of pause, she spoke silently:

"The task of tracking Ince Zangwill will still be handled by Randolph Carter. The Church will arrange for Crestet Cesimir to go to St. Lovett Church as soon as possible."
