The citizens of Byakuyakoku believed in the existence of three worlds: the Realm of the Vishaps, the Human Realm, and the Void Realm.
Converted into names more familiar to the modern age, they were known as the Light Realm, the Human Realm, and the Abyss.
Tsumi once explained the Realm of the Vishaps as follows: "In truth, the Realm of the Vishaps refers to the pure and primordial world of elemental lifeforms. Its name in the scriptures is the Light Realm. The Seven Kings of Light are the seven elemental dragons that represent the peak of primal, untamed elemental power."
This statement not only confirmed that the Realm of the Vishaps and the Light Realm were one and the same, but also implied something else—the world originally inhabited by the elemental lifeforms, including the Seven Dragon Lords, was also the Light Realm.
Meanwhile, both Tsumi and Enjou referred to the power spread by the Towers of the Void as the power of the Abyss. This undoubtedly proved that the Void Realm was the Abyss—though not an abyss in the spatial sense, but in the energetic sense: the power of the Void Realm was the power of the Abyss itself.
Combining this with the statement "Enkanomiya is a place where the ley lines of the Human Realm, the elemental currents of the Light Realm, and the dark tides of the Void Realm all flow strongly," and considering that the elemental concentration of the Light Realm in Enkanomiya could lead to the Sacred Soil phenomenon on Watatsumi Island above, while the Towers of the Void could release Abyssal power—one could conclude that the Light Realm, Human Realm, and Void Realm intersected in certain places to some degree.
Pausing for a moment, Victor Wang organized his thoughts. He categorized the following information as certain facts: the Light Realm is where dragons originally lived; the Human Realm is the current world; the Void Realm is where Abyssal power exists; and the three realms can overlap with each other.
As for the fact that Enkanomiya's normal state contained stronger Light Realm power, and that this power was only suppressed by the Void Realm's power after the construction of the Towers of the Void—he reasoned that perhaps the Light Realm was closer to the Human Realm than the Void Realm. However, since there was no way to rule out natural fluctuations in the strength of these flows, he placed that idea in the hypothesis category.
Having sorted that, Victor Wang continued his analysis.
This entire expedition into Enkanomiya could be summarized as follows: Enjou modified the Towers of the Void to release Abyssal power, suppressing the Vishaps and the Sangacorexes. Victor and his companions then reconfigured the towers' mechanisms, reversing the flow to release Light Realm power instead, which dispelled the Abyssal energy.
From this, Enkanomiya could be divided into three states: the normal Human Realm state, the Abyssal-power-covered state, and the Light-power-covered state.
As for the beings encountered in Enkanomiya: The Sinshades, Enjou the Pyro Abyss Lector, the Hilichurls, and even Victor himself could all be considered forces aligned with the Abyssal side. The Vishaps were clearly elemental creatures of the Light Realm. Kokomi, as a Vision holder, represented the Human Realm. Lumine was an outlander. Paimon's true identity was unknown. Tsumi's alignment was hard to define.
Thus, the three states of Enkanomiya corresponded neatly with the three factions of existence, allowing Victor Wang to observe how each kind of lifeform reacted to the energies of the other worlds.
Enkanomiya in its normal Human Realm state:
Humans survived comfortably.
Elemental creatures survived comfortably.
Abyssal beings survived comfortably.
Enkanomiya covered by Light Realm power:
Unsuitable for ordinary human life—the same Light Realm energy that caused the Holy Soilification phenomenon on Watatsumi Island—but depending on concentration, humans could still survive during the tower's conversion phase, and Vision holders felt no discomfort.
Elemental creatures survived comfortably.
Abyssal beings survived comfortably.
Enkanomiya covered by Abyssal power:
Humans found it difficult to survive. Vision holders could resist for a time, but would feel unwell.
Elemental creatures also found it difficult to survive, able to resist only partially, likewise feeling discomfort.
Abyssal beings, however, thrived.
As the saying goes, discussing toxicity without considering dosage is meaningless. The same applied to the concentrations of Human Realm energy, Light Realm energy, and Abyssal energy.
But this time, the variables were controlled. Enkanomiya's normal state served as the blank control group, while both Light and Void coverage were produced using the same device. Considering that without the device, Light Realm energy was naturally dominant, the Light Realm's concentration might even have been higher during operation.
Thus, Victor Wang derived an intriguing conclusion:
At equivalent concentrations—humans could only survive in the Human Realm; elemental creatures and Vision holders could survive in both the Human and Light Realms; Abyssal beings could exist across all three realms—the Human, Light, and Void.
After some thought, Victor Wang filed this under hypothesis.
It seemed quite plausible, but not absolutely irrefutable.
These, then, were the insights he had gained from his journey through Enkanomiya.
Rolling over on his bed, he attempted to connect these findings with [Before Sun and Moon], seeking for the first time to glimpse the true nature of the world.
He began translating the [Before Sun and Moon] in order.
The original world of Teyvat was the Light Realm. The seven mighty dragon lords—the Dragon Sovereigns—ruled over it. Then, the eternal throne descended from the heavens, and the Primordial One began war against the Seven Dragons.
The Primordial One was born from an egg, but to create a world, the shell had to be broken. Phanes—the Primordial One—used the shell to separate "the cosmos" from "the shadow of the world."
"The shell is that black canopy above the stars—it truly separates the cosmos. But what does 'the shadow of the world' mean…?"
"The shell is also Teyvat's boundary… In the heavens, it blocks the cosmos; on the earth, it forms the 'shadow of the world.' The Four Heavenly Kings—the Outlander Battle Technique Hunters… So, Teyvat isn't a complete world after all. There must be something far greater beyond its borders."
Sighing, Victor Wang followed the text further.
Within the shell, within the "shadow of the world," the Primordial One fought the Seven Dragons for forty years. The dragons were defeated and bowed before the victor. Only then did the Primordial One begin the true creation of the world.
First came mountains and rivers. The rebels and the disobedient fled to the seas and oceans. Then the Primordial One created life forms different from the elemental creatures—birds, beasts, fish, flowers, and trees—and above all, humankind. Thus, the world became the Human Realm.
"Here it is… The dragons that lived in the Light Realm and the humans of the Human Realm began to coexist in the same world..."
"The Human Realm seems to be a gentler, thinner version of the Light Realm—perhaps the Primordial One, for the sake of human survival, diluted the elemental intensity. Since the Vishaps still exist, it means the Light Realm wasn't simply discarded into another dimension. The Light Realm must, in fact, overlap with the Human Realm."
"But then, where is the Void Realm?"
Victor Wang looked toward the ceiling, his gaze seeming to pierce through it, reaching for the Abyssal constellations glimmering in the night sky.
"The Vishaps lived in the Light Realm and feared the Void Realm… So, the two cannot coexist. Could it be that the Void Realm lies above—in the heavens, beyond the shell?"
"No… that can't be right. The dark currents of the Void Realm can interact with the elemental streams of the Light Realm within the Human Realm. So theoretically, the Void overlaps with the Human Realm—and even with the Light Realm! Humans fear the Light Realm, yet their world originated from it. Could it be that the god of the Vishaps, just like the Primordial One who shaped the Human Realm, once created the Light Realm from within the Void?"
Victor Wang let out a faint, incredulous laugh. Even assuming the Vishaps had a god, that would mean the Light Realm's elemental power was born from Abyssal power.
"Impossible," he murmured, smiling to himself.
Yet, inexplicably, an image came to mind.
White light could be split into seven colors. And when those seven colors were painted onto white paper, they absorbed all seven wavelengths of light—turning themselves, and the reflection of light, black.
If there was any link between white light and darkness, it was that they both contained all seven colors within them.
