"We can't get too close," the Mandalorian shouted through the communicator.
"I know," Amir replied. He had already spotted the mine surrounded by Imperial stormtroopers from a distance.
"So what's the plan?" the Mandalorian asked.
"Kill them all, then shout my friend's name. How about that?" Amir joked.
"Though I really don't want to admit it, this time, we'll end up like sieves," the Mandalorian sighed. "Or even dust."
"I trust my friend. He's not in the mine. He's outside," Amir said.
"Why?"
"Instinct."
"So your instinct is telling you he's hiding behind which rock?"
"Intuition doesn't work," Amir said, lowering the Traveler and landing on a flat area. "But the Force does."
"I understand. People always turn to religion when they're desperate, but I suggest you just shout your friend's name."
"I'm landing. Keep watch for me." Amir landed successfully.
He felt a call from the Force—someone was calling his name in his mind. He felt it right here on this land.
Leaning against the pilot's seat, he closed his eyes and sensed the Force's presence around him.
. . .
Lango stared blankly at the communicator.
He was still a teenager, and certain emotions lingered stubbornly in his heart.
He knew he should call for help. Amir would definitely come, no matter what. With so many people behind him, there would be a better chance of survival.
But he knew how dangerous this place was. The Empire's fleet could destroy any enemy ships with precision. Besides, it would take Amir a long time to get there.
He had taken on this mission himself, and he wanted to complete it alone, without relying on his friends' help again and again.
The explosion in the mine was the beginning of his plan, but the Empire's arrival ruined everything.
Suddenly, Chewbacca grabbed his hand.
Lango immediately became alert and signaled his companions to hide in the dark mine shaft. They quickly scattered and hid in the corners of the cave.
Soon, they heard voices outside the cave entrance.
Lango had never felt his heart beat so strongly. He took out the dagger he had stolen from the guard and removed his tattered shirt. His skin turned pure black, making him disappear into the cave.
The soldiers approached the cave entrance and shone the beams of their blaster rifles into its interior.
Scattered rocks were used as cover in the cave, where people hid behind them or in the farthest corners.
At first glance, under the beam of light, nothing unusual was revealed.
"I don't think anyone is here, sir," the soldier reported.
"Go in and check," came the order from behind.
The soldier couldn't disobey. He clenched his jaw and slowly stepped inside.
He didn't regret saying those words, even though he knew he shouldn't have. The remnants of his integrity and kindness wouldn't let him turn a blind eye to such indiscriminate killing.
But that was all he could do now.
He had been expelled from the Imperial Navy as a pilot precisely because of such rebellious acts and sent to the front lines as a cannon fodder soldier.
Suddenly, he noticed a leg protruding from a corner, trembling slightly. He recognized the pants—they belonged to one of the miners here, that much was clear.
The slightly reflective pants stood out conspicuously in the light.
Lango's heart tightened. He hid behind the rock wall by the door and watched the scene unfold.
His body was tense, ready to ambush and kill the stormtrooper.
But then the person in front of him turned toward the light and said, "Nothing unusual, sir. Just a cave."
"Good. Come out."
The stormtrooper pretended to look around again before leaving the cave.
Everyone sighed in relief.
Lango's tense body relaxed.
"That's it, then." The officer looked at the soldier who had emerged, took a thermal bomb from his belt, and pressed the detonation switch.
The soldier's pupils at the cave entrance contracted sharply.
In that moment, his mind went blank, and the officer and stormtroopers in front of him began to grow distant and distort his vision.
The thermal bomb whizzed past him, flying into the cave and landing on the ground. It rolled a short distance, flickering with red light.
The area fell into complete silence.
"Destroy any possible hiding places for the enemy. This will be useful," the sergeant said, patting his gloves.
The red light flickered faster and faster.
All the soldiers turned around except one, who remained at the entrance.
Suddenly, a spherical object flew past him and rolled to the feet of the soldiers in front.
The rapidly flashing red light revealed its identity.
"Get down!"
"BOOM!"
A blinding flash of light exploded among the soldiers, engulfing the area in intense heat and blowing them away. Flames that were impossible to extinguish were left behind!
The soldier at the cave entrance took his hands off his eyes and removed his suffocating helmet. He frowned tightly as he watched the scene unfold, seemingly contemplating his next move.
The officer struggled to roll over and looked at the soldier, his eyes filled with hatred.
The other soldiers around him were engulfed in flames from the explosion, but he reacted quickly, diving to the side.
Lango emerged from the cave entrance—he had thrown the bomb.
"Thank you," Lango said to the soldier who had tried to save them.
Then, the young Farlin raised his blaster and aimed at the officer, who was still struggling.
"Wait," said the soldier. "Leave him to me."
He raised his standard-issue blaster and aimed it at his former superior.
A crimson beam pierced the man's heart.
"Now we're companions. You'd better have a plan to escape from here."
The man turned his head, revealing a handsome face beneath his brown hair.
"Not yet," Lango said, looking at the carnage in front of him. "My name is Lango."
"Han. Han Solo," he said. "So now I've lost my job, and I'm waiting to die with a bunch of short-lived bastards. That's great news."
Lango subconsciously looked at the communicator in his hand.
"Great! You called your friends for help, didn't you? How long until we can see the ship?" Han Solo grabbed Lango's shoulder and said,
"Don't tell me you didn't. Please, call someone. Hurry." Han tilted his head and said, "Listen, the galaxy is dangerous. We all need to help each other."
When Lango heard this, he suddenly felt a little relieved. He had a feeling that Amir was nearby.
He smiled and said, "You're right, Han."
"All right, everyone, get inside. We need to move. If we stay here another second, we'll end up like a bunch of roasted meat." Han Solo shouted.
Lango followed the group in the same direction. He opened his communicator, entered a familiar number, and dialed.
