Chapter 66 - Chapter 67: Reunion

They arrived once again at the familiar Dragon Camel Grill. Drawing from his experience last time, Amir easily ordered his meal and began chatting with Sain.

He chose a corner table again because he knew that, in a crowded place like this, people would inevitably eavesdrop on nearby conversations.

He had done the same himself before.

Sain told him about the recent situation at the repair shop. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened; everything was proceeding smoothly as usual. For Amir, however, that was the best news he could have heard.

"Jax misses you all. He has no friends to play with, so he's been begging to come find you lately," Sain said helplessly.

"I helped this little guy replace all the damaged parts on his body with new ones. I also modified the old holographic camera model and replaced the unstable motion capture device with a new one, so the video won't freeze anymore."

Amir drank his drink while listening to Sain talk about his modifications.

Are Jax's teenage troubles only worth a single sentence? The machine is your real son, isn't it?

Amir hoped that Jax could grow up safely on Coruscant. Unlike Lango, Veronica, and Amir, Jax had a stable family, no nearby dangers, and no deep-seated obsessions.

Jax was like a younger brother to Amir, someone he had watched grow up. When Amir first came to Sain's repair shop, Pierre had just given birth to Jax.

Pierre hoped that Jax could grow up safely until the impending war ended.

Even if the war broke out, Coruscant, being a core world, would still be relatively safe.

"BD-4 will stay with you this time. It said it would help you."

"Beep beep!"

"Hmm, I could use its help right now. You've arrived just in time." Amir thought about how his signals were being interfered with. Having BD-4 help him run errands would be perfect.

"As for Jax, Pierre and I are teaching him more complex mechanical knowledge. Fortunately, he's not resistant to it."

"I know he doesn't hate mechanics. He's actually quite talented," Amir agreed.

"But when you were his age, you were already skilled enough to open your own repair shop." Sain gave Amir a sideways glance.

"That's different. My passion for mechanics is genuine. Interest is the greatest motivator for learning. Jax is, at most, just curious about motorcycle spaceships."

"That's true, but I learned faster than anyone else back then. My master even praised me for my talent. What are you looking at? Don't forget that I taught you everything you know."

"Hahaha." Amir stopped looking down on him and took the grilled meat the waiter handed him.

"Eat up! It's on me!"

"What? You've only been out for a few days, and you've already made money?"

"How did you find out?"

"Once you have some money, you're bound to go on a binge."

Amir thought about it and realized it was true. After all, who could resist good food? And what's wrong with treating yourself after a busy day?

"Okay, this time Lango is thanking me and paying me for the rescue," Amir said, his eyes darting around.

Sain also changed his expression.

"So where did Lango go after that? He said in his call with Jax that he wouldn't be returning to Coruscant anytime soon."

"He's gotten addicted to saving people. Gulina's tribe still has a group of people imprisoned elsewhere, but with the help of the Rebel Alliance this time, it shouldn't be too difficult. I hope."

Amir stopped mid-sentence.

"Hahaha, then there's definitely no danger!" Sain said this while picking up a piece of meat.

Amir just wanted to shove the meat down this reckless Twi'lek's throat and silence him.

But it was too late.

"I'm sorry, Lango. If anything happens, don't blame me."

. . .

After eating for a while, Sain suddenly said, "There seems to have been a major shift in the underground forces in this area recently. You know our street has always been Fox's territory, but his gang has disappeared mysteriously in the last few days. Some speculate that they provoked someone higher up, but as far as I know, they aren't the only ones. Many other areas have experienced the same thing."

"It's like a giant beast swallowed all these thugs at the same time."

Amir took a sip of his drink and said, "The underground area has always been chaotic and coveted by many. The explosion that killed the renowned Frenis was mysterious. Now, a big fish is stirring up trouble down there."

Amir thought of the white squid head. Senir was likely involved as well.

"At least we're in the central district, right next to the Imperial Military Academy. The Imperial Palace is also nearby. No matter how chaotic it gets underground, it won't threaten us civilians," Sain sighed.

"That's true, but don't let Jax contact Senir, that flatterer." Amir couldn't help but mention it to Sain.

Seeing Amir's serious expression, Sain nodded in understanding without asking why.

After a hearty meal, Amir saw Sain off on a cargo ship bound for the main route, which included Coruscant.

Mos Eisley was a mandatory stop on many famous routes and the most famous port city in the Outer Rim.

From there, one could reach almost any destination.

BD-4 stood on Amir's shoulder, holding onto the backpack straps, and said goodbye to Sain with Amir.

Amir felt a pang of sadness until Sain's figure disappeared into the cargo ship, though it was only momentary.

Amir smiled and patted BD-4 on the head. Then, he climbed onto the Bantha waiting on the wide road and headed out of the city.

As they walked deeper into the sand dunes atop the giant beast, the surroundings gradually grew dark, and the young man in a long robe and the robot swayed.

Amir looked up at the slowly brightening starry sky, blowing in a mix of warm and cold wind, and marveled once again at the beauty of the galaxy.

Many years later, Luke would undoubtedly feel the same way.

It was precisely this longing, felt by countless people since ancient times, that made the galaxy the vibrant place it is today.

However, it was still far from perfect.

Beneath its vibrant colors, freedom, and prosperity lay endless darkness.

Therefore, now was not the time to rest.

Amir knew he had to set off.
