Not only that, but Amir also saw at least five or six children scattered around the lab, surrounded by researchers, undergoing different experiments.
And this was definitely not all of them—perhaps only a small fraction.
"You are different from them, Amir." Gideon walked to a console and pressed a button.
At this, a researcher in a white coat came over and greeted Gideon.
"Show him, John Morley," Gideon ordered.
The researcher quickly operated the console, and a holographic screen appeared in front of them.
On the screen was a sealed room, not located on this ship. Inside the room, a young boy was warming up.
Everyone's attention was focused on the image, including Amir. He really wanted to know what exactly they were researching here.
A platform slowly rose in the room, ascending to a height of nearly five meters. At this point, the boy moved. With just a light leap, his body seemed to defy gravity, jumping directly to a height that a normal person couldn't even climb to.
Without stopping, the boy extended his right hand. Another stationary platform on the ground floated up out of thin air. Only when it had risen to a high point in front of him did he release it, letting the platform free-fall.
At that same moment, he jumped quickly, planting his left foot on the falling platform to get a boost, and then leaped again. After two consecutive jumps, he ascended to the highest platform in the room, signaling he had successfully completed the training.
The projection didn't stop. Another scene appeared.
It was still the same boy. He wore a blast-shield helmet and held a lightsaber. He was surrounded by several people holding blaster pistols. Suddenly, these people began to fire. A continuous stream of blaster bolts shot toward the boy, but it was as if he could perceive the position of every bolt. He swung the lightsaber in his hand rapidly, blocking every attack.
The scene switched again. This time it was a different boy. He was facing a group of combat droids, roaring in pain. Suddenly, he stretched out his hand and gave a violent push. The droids in front of him toppled backward uncontrollably like saplings in a storm, crashing into the wall and becoming a pile of scrap metal.
Gideon looked at Amir, as if waiting for his reaction.
But Amir felt no ripple in his heart. These scenes might be incredible to an ordinary person, but to Amir, they were nothing. He could do all of this.
Perhaps if Jax saw this, he would be astonished and shout "holy shit," but if it were Lango, he would be surprised but wouldn't pay it too much mind.
So Gideon spoke: "Do you know about the Jedi? They were all very powerful and possessed this kind of power. But they were also too weak, bound by the rules they set for themselves, their hands and feet tied. They were used, deceived, and destroyed. We believe this power, the Force, is absolutely more than just that."
"The Force allows one to grasp supernatural power, to control everything around them. Once you are strong enough, you can obtain everything—money, power. You can control anyone's life or death, including your own."
"You have this potential, Amir."
Amir showed a timely expression of shock, along with a trace of desire.
Gideon seemed very satisfied with Amir's performance. He said to the researcher beside him, "John Morley, take our future hope to a room to rest first. He must be very tired. We will introduce him to more tomorrow."
After speaking, the middle-aged man with glasses walked over.
"Follow me, Amir." John Morley walked in front. The agent was still supporting Amir. What was concerning was that the tall security droid also followed behind the three of them.
Amir couldn't help but glance again at the children in the corners of the lab, being used as guinea pigs. But in the end, he turned his head away. He told himself that now was not the time.
The spider droid quietly crawled up his pant leg. Just moments ago, the droid had found and connected to the lab's data port, stealing a portion of the files.
Amir cooperatively followed behind the researcher. After passing through a corridor and turning a corner, John Morley spoke.
"Amir, you may not know me, but you definitely know Boris. He was once my teacher."
Amir didn't want to bother with him. John Morley—if he wasn't mistaken, this bastard was the reason he was captured.
"Where is Boris? I want to see him," Amir said.
John hesitated.
"Boris's current condition... he can't see anyone. But it's alright. In two more days, he will be one of us. You can see him anytime then."
In two more days, he will be one of us? Amir mulled over the meaning of this sentence.
According to what Gideon said, they captured Boris to find him. Now it seemed it wasn't that simple, or rather, it was more than just that.
Boris must have something else in his head that they wanted.
One of us in two days... Does that mean the old man will talk in two days?
How can he be so certain?
Suddenly, Amir thought of the children he saw in the lab.
Without a doubt, in this lab researching the Force, these children must be Force-sensitive.
And the source of these Force-sensitives could only be one: the Imperial Inquisitors. Hunting Jedi and searching for Force-sensitives had always been their primary mission.
In the past ten years or so, it was impossible to imagine how many children had been ruined at their hands.
This lab must be involved and was an absolute beneficiary.
So Amir subconsciously thought: was John Morley's certainty that Boris would talk related to the Imperial Inquisitors?
Certain Force users could search minds and probe memories!
Wait two days... which means an Imperial Inquisitor could arrive here at any time, starting now.
I must be ready to leave this place at a moment's notice. And those children...
My ship must be inside this cruiser's hangar. My wristguard sensed its signal.
Right now, my biggest advantage is that this group of people knows nothing about me.
Suddenly, John Morley spoke, interrupting Amir's thoughts.
"Amir, next, one of our researchers will come and explain the specific process of our experiment to you. After you understand it, you will truly become our colleague. We can unlock the riddle of the Force."
"As the one with the most potential among us, you will definitely be the first to obtain this power."
Amir nodded.
Today's conversation just gave Amir a concept, painting a pretty picture. This wasn't enough to be completely convincing; at most, it would pique his interest.
What they wanted was an Amir who would obey them completely. A test subject completely loyal to the Empire.
Therefore, in the time that followed, they were going to brainwash him.
