"I didn't know it was you."
He explained with a soft voice, carrying a hint of grievance and pleading.
How could he have known that Mr. Sterling's biological daughter, the granddaughter of the Sterling patriarch, would be Serena?
"An excuse."
The Sterling patriarch wouldn't let Ethan Grant off so easily, he replied with a cold laugh.
"That's really how it is." Ethan Grant wished he could turn back time, to unsay those words and to have never signed any agreement.
Seeing that the Sterling patriarch and Mr. Sterling didn't believe his words, Ethan grew anxious.
He glanced around, the alcohol getting to him, "Grandpa, Dad."
This "Dad," whether directed at the Eldest Master or Mr. Sterling, neither of them wanted to hear it.
"I only love Serena."
He turned his head to gaze at Serena Sullivan, speaking earnestly, "I thought you wanted me to marry someone else."
This was the truth, and with a bit of drunken audacity, he said it in front of Felicity Sterling and June Kane.
