"Serena, I really don't want to."
She emphasized.
"Dad, what about you?" Serena didn't respond to Claire's words but instead looked at Simon.
"Do you want to, or not?"
She asked loudly, and Simon lifted his head to meet her eyes, unexpectedly not avoiding them this time, "I want to try!"
His answer left Claire stunned and made Serena and Wyatt press their lips together.
"I've lost too much, I want to hold on to what little I have."
Simon continued, turning his head, his gaze falling on Claire.
Claire's eyes immediately welled up with tears. She and Serena had vowed they didn't want to, but the feelings she had for Simon had never really left her over the years.
She remembered him saying he wanted a son and a daughter, and that they would rely on each other into old age.
She remembered him saying he would love her for a lifetime.
Those sweet words resurfaced in Claire's dreams over the past twenty years.
