Finn Chandler nodded. Mrs. Ford had just told her too, to be careful of the old man.
She herself had always been on guard.
But sometimes, no matter how careful you are, you still can't guard against everything.
"Before he left, he said something to me."
Finn brought up the conversation she'd had with Old Master Chambers again.
"What?"
Julian asked.
Finn didn't answer him directly. Instead, she first asked Julian about something else.
"Did my mother jumping off the building count as an accident, or was it deliberate?"
"Huh?"
Finn changed direction too abruptly, and Julian froze for a second.
