Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Second Evolution! Ten Corpse Puppets!

These corpse puppets were controlled by Lu Chuan and had long lost their own thoughts, unless Lu Chuan chose to disconnect willingly.

Although the crystal core was extremely tempting to zombies, the remaining three corpse puppets remained unmoved.

Under Lu Chuan's control, the three corpse puppets raced quickly toward the community.

Along the way, some zombies might have caught the scent and wanted to snatch it, but Lu Chuan controlled the corpse puppet to raise its hand and bring down an axe.

Evolved zombies found it difficult to deal with, but for these ordinary zombies with no thoughts, Lu Chuan's corpse puppets took them down with one axe each.

The crystal core escort team cut through their foes effortlessly and rushed back to the community.

After taking the crystal core, Lu Chuan had the three corpse puppets wielding fire axes to stand guard in front of the building entrance, ensuring the building's safety.

He then quickly ran up to the sixth floor.

Upon seeing the crystal core, Lu Chuan was instantly delighted, realizing that this crystal core was similar to the one he had previously devoured, white with a hint of red.

This meant the agile zombie he ambushed earlier was not only an evolved zombie but also one that had devoured a crystal core!

"No wonder that agile zombie moved with such speed; it had already evolved once."

Calming his slightly excited emotions, Lu Chuan then swallowed the crystal core.

In an instant, a vast amount of energy swept through his body once again, just like the feeling from before.

It was as if Lu Chuan's brain was once again experiencing tremendous expansion, but with the experience from before, he handled it with ease this time.

Clenching his teeth and enduring the process of telekinesis surging, an extreme sense of clarity in his mind returned after a while.

Lu Chuan's lips curved into a slight smile; he knew his power had grown stronger.

Lu Chuan's five senses improved once more; his hearing and vision, among other things, had all enhanced significantly compared to before. Most crucially, his telekinesis was far stronger than it had been!

Moreover, what Lu Chuan always felt was his very frail body; it finally saw a substantial improvement after devouring the two crystal cores consecutively.

His physical strength, speed, and the defense of his skin had all enhanced significantly compared to before!

Previously, Lu Chuan envied the robust physique of a certain bulky figure he had seen.

Especially those two arms like solid steel, even deflecting the attacks of agile zombies capable of tearing through cars.

Now, while his body hadn't evolved to such an exaggerated degree, it was much stronger than before.

Lu Chuan's fists waved with vigorous momentum, akin to a martial arts master in films who had immersed themselves in martial arts for years.

Feeling his current physique, Lu Chuan nodded in satisfaction.

Even though his evolution was all about telekinesis, his previously frail body made him somewhat uneasy.

Now, he was finally quite satisfied.

Lu Chuan picked up the steel machete placed nearby and began to swing it.

Instantly, the living room filled with the gleam of the blade, each slash producing a powerful sound as it cut through the air.

In Lu Chuan's hands, the steel machete seemed like a deadly weapon.

With a glint of excitement in his eyes, Lu Chuan knew that devouring crystal cores indeed sped up his enhancement; his close combat abilities had improved considerably!

Then, concentrating his mind, Lu Chuan discovered that his telekinesis had also increased significantly from before.

To put it into perspective, if at first his telekinesis after the blood moon evolution was like a cup of water,

now it had multiplied several-fold and could be described as a basin of water.

Standing upstairs, Lu Chuan performed a simple test and found that his current telekinesis could control ten zombies!

Moreover, the control's maximum distance had reached three thousand meters!

An extremely excited Lu Chuan quickly ran downstairs and selected ten zombies with strong and intact bodies from the surrounding horde to form his corpse puppet squad.

This period saw Lu Chuan frequently dispatching corpse puppets to the surrounding area to scavenge supplies.

For weapons like fire axes, Lu Chuan would have the corpse puppets bring them back to the building whenever he saw them.

With each corpse puppet equipped with a sharp fire axe, these robust, six-foot-tall corpse puppets all stood in front of Lu Chuan.

Each rested a fire axe on their shoulder, exuding a particularly formidable presence!

Lu Chuan looked at his zombie squad and nodded in satisfaction.

The zombie version of the Axe Gang seemed to be taking shape.

Standing in front of this zombie squad, Lu Chuan felt full of vigor, no longer confused or despondent as he had been post-apocalypse.

Lu Chuan was now imagining in his mind the formation of an enormous zombie army, all wielding sharp weapons and battling in every direction.

"Heh heh heh, you may be strong, but in a one-on-one, I might not be a match for you melee evolved zombies."

"But... I've made my way with just three things!"

"Be ruthless! Telekinesis! Lots of corpse puppets!"

"In the apocalypse, it's all about power. Who's going to fight you one-on-one, you muscle-bound dimwits without brains?"

"I'm all about mass production! Employing the people's strategy!"

"You want to fight barehanded? Sorry, I'm using both axes and machetes."

"Martial virtue?"

"More people and more axes, that's what's really good!"

Seeing his forces gradually gaining strength, Lu Chuan's confidence soared ever higher.

Turning his head to glance at Building One not far away, Lu Chuan narrowed his eyes, a cold glint of murderous intent flashing in his gaze.

He hadn't forgotten that in Building One, there was an extremely terrifying creature, completely unlike any zombies he had encountered before.

Lu Chuan wasn't even sure if he should describe it as a zombie because, as a member of the zombie race, Lu Chuan was really reluctant to admit that he was the same kind as that thing...

Controlling a corpse puppet to experience death from close quarters, the bloody figure of that creature was overwhelmingly shocking for Lu Chuan.

Especially today, after facing the agile zombie head-on in combat, in comparison, that creature filled Lu Chuan with even more dread.

Even the agile zombie that had evolved twice couldn't withstand his tactic of overwhelming numbers, but that bloody figure was faster and more aggressive than the agile zombie.

What bothered Lu Chuan the most was its tongue, which could be used almost like a hidden weapon, making it impossible to guard against.

With two zombies instantly eliminated, could the ten corpse puppets muster strength enough to take it down?

Lu Chuan thought it over and still shook his head; given his current abilities, it was challenging to ensure victory over such an opponent.

It mainly came down to too little knowledge about that creature, having only seen it once during a scavenging run.

Lu Chuan cast a glance in the direction of Building One, a hint of apprehension flashing in his eyes.

Based on the mysterious strength of the opponent, Lu Chuan decided to wait for an opportunity in a few days to send in corpse puppets again, probing to see just how powerful this creature had become.

With such a ticking time bomb around, Lu Chuan couldn't sleep peacefully.
