The ground shattered beneath her feet, sending rocks and foul dust scattering into the forest fog, which thinned just enough to reveal the scale of the battle swallowing the land.
Her Eagle summons tore through the enemy with a ferocity that made her chest ache with awe. Their talons were like curved daggers, shredding the writhing mass of snakes, and their wings slashed through the air like living blades, splitting the creatures in half.
But the snakes didn't yield.
From open jaws, streams of reddish venom rained down like acid, sizzling through the air, melting the forest's edges with a hiss. Even the strongest hunting birds, compact and steel-like in their bones, struggled against the relentless onslaught.
Still, they fought.
Pain was foreign to the eagles. All they knew was the burning, maddening desire to annihilate every one of these abhorrent creatures.
