"You won't succeed!"
Despite his terror, Harry gritted his teeth and stood. Glared at the young Voldemort.
"You're still a loser. The Mandrakes will mature soon. Those you've hurt..."
"Enough."
Voldemort raised his hand. Cut off Harry's anger.
He wasn't here to trade insults with children. Watching the trembling Savior, his cold face showed amusement.
"Just some Mudbloods. No one cares about them. Including Dumbledore."
"Great Savior."
"My target has always been you..."
His night-black eyes studied Harry. As if able to see deepest fears.
However, facing this dangerous aura, neither Harry nor Ron showed continued fear. They seemed adapted to it.
"How dare you!"
"You treat life like a game?"
"You'll regret this!"
Ron cursed through gritted teeth.
Harry was more rational. Looking at Ginny's weakening form, he said calmly:
"Whatever you want to do is fine."
"But there's no need to hurt an innocent person. It does you no good. It's not what a strong person does."
Their reactions surprised Voldemort.
But as Harry's words fell, he let out a soft laugh. Started low, grew louder. Like he'd encountered something extremely funny.
His cold face twisted. Showed indescribable madness and mockery.
After a moment, the laughter stopped.
Voldemort looked at Harry with disgust. "My future self did something very stupid."
"Savior..."
"Let me teach you an important secret. I learned it in the orphanage."
As if falling into memory, Voldemort walked to Salazar Slytherin's statue. Barely audible Parseltongue hissed.
As the statue's mouth opened, he continued coldly: "Power..."
"True power will never belong to people like you. Smart or strong..."
"Never!"
His sinister voice suddenly grew loud.
Voldemort spun around. Stared at Harry as if trying to see some secret.
"Remember—true power only belongs to those willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals..."
Facing those cold eyes, Harry stepped forward. As if unwilling to admit defeat. His right hand quietly slipped into his robes. Drew Hermione's butterfly knife.
"Oh, you understand something?"
Voldemort's lips curved. Dark eyes flashing with amusement.
Harry suddenly lunged forward. Tried to stab the knife into Voldemort's chest. But he stumbled through Voldemort's phantom-like body. Fell heavily to the ground.
"Harry!"
Ron cried out.
He rushed forward. Helped Harry up. Stood before his friend to prevent Voldemort from attacking.
Voldemort, reappearing in place, ignored this. As the Basilisk emerged from the statue's mouth, he shook his head disappointedly.
"I know your type too well."
"Savior, you can't change your nature!"
Through Ginny, Voldemort had learned enough.
He'd lost interest in how his future self failed. Kill the Savior, and everything would end.
As eerie Parseltongue echoed through the air, the Basilisk's closed eyes suddenly opened. Revealed dark snake pupils like yellow lanterns.
Then it opened its massive jaws. Scarlet tongue flickered with heart-stopping coldness. Slithered straight toward Harry and Ron.
Harry and Ron didn't dare open their eyes. Their tense bodies trembled violently. Yet strangely, they showed smiles like they'd survived disaster.
The Basilisk stopped right before them. No matter how Voldemort urged it, it wouldn't advance. Just hissed frantically. As if searching for something.
"Dark Lord, our understanding of 'whatever it takes' might differ from yours..."
Harry suddenly spoke.
Before Voldemort could look confused, violent roaring erupted from the rock wall above!
"BOOM!"
Exploding stone fragments shot like bullets at the Basilisk.
Instantly, thick dust filled the Chamber's platform. Hazy gray spreading in all directions.
Though stones couldn't hurt the Basilisk, it still let out sharp, angry hissing in pain.
It tried to escape the dust.
However, a huge form descended from above. A metal hammer gleaming with metallic luster fell like a meteor. Pounded the Basilisk's head into the ground.
Under this devastating impact, the entire Chamber shook violently.
Voldemort's face darkened as he watched the smoke's center.
Seconds ago, Harry and Ron had felt that familiar fear rapidly approaching.
But as a soul fragment, Voldemort couldn't sense the oppression from biological instinct.
As merely one Horcrux—a soul fragment missing too much—he couldn't even feel Hellfire's suppression of spirits...
Seizing this breathing space, Harry and Ron moved quickly. Dragged Ginny behind a thick pillar. As for Lockhart, they'd forgotten him.
"Motherfucker!"
"This damn place is too hard to find!"
"Slytherin's brain got shot, I want to crack open his skull, that son of a bitch!"
The familiar garbled cursing was so reassuring.
Harry and Ron exchanged glances. Both breathed deep sighs of relief.
"Goddamn villain, I told you to listen to me! I already smelled the food. We could've walked to the right exit. This is a test of wisdom!"
"Cough! Look what you did!"
"Does the Shelby Family only have twisted logic?"
"Damn straight line between two points, damn whatever it takes, damn..."
"Screw wisdom!"
"Damn idiot, you don't even have a brain!"
"Fuck you!"
"Fuck you too!"
The bizarre duet argued fiercely in the smoke. A fierce shadow seemed like some monster crawling from the abyss.
Voldemort retreated several steps warily. His pale lips moved. Cold Parseltongue following...
"Shut up!"
"Don't make me hand you over to Polly."
Realizing he was running out of words, the Tiger-dominated duet sounded frantic. Hearing this, Venom instantly stopped roaring.
The duet became awkward and guilty.
"Ahem, Tiger, my great master, I'm just venting. You're not taking it seriously, right?"
Facing Mother Polly, he was truly cowardly.
Just then, the Basilisk under Venom gradually woke. Its massive body began surging. Its reopened snake eyes overflowed with fury.
A breaking sound suddenly exploded.
Its huge tail whipped viciously at Venom.
The tail-tip scales all tilted slightly. Like countless densely packed blades. Gleaming with dark light...
