Chapter 12 - True Power of Inferno

Race 12 – True Power of Inferno

Kaiyo and Drax continued, almost fused in a single motion – wheel to wheel, every turn, every micro-movement of the steering wheel. Thoughts swirled in his mind:

How do I do this… how do I take the advantage…

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a small, blinking button on the dashboard – a red label: INFERNO. It felt like it hadn't been there before. Instinct guided his decision.

Without hesitation, he slammed the button.

Instantly, Inferno exploded into life. The engine howled like wild beasts, real fire burst from the exhaust pipes. The car trembled beneath him, vibrations shooting through Kaiyo's body from paws to tail, and the air around him thrummed with power.

Drax glanced to the side – his calm expression instantly shifting to shock. He didn't have time to react.

Inferno tore forward like a wild blaze, cutting across the track at an incredible speed. In a heartbeat, Kaiyo's car surged ahead of Drax, leaving him in a swirling cloud of dust and engine roar.

"So this is the true power of Inferno…" Kaiyo thought.

The crowd of monkeys erupted in cheers and astonishment. Fire from the exhaust, dust, and whirling debris made the track look as if it were ablaze. Kaiyo felt he controlled everything now – Inferno's power was untamed, and his mind was synced with every vibrational impulse of the vehicle.

Kaiyo felt the strength under his paws: every turn perfectly read, every straight conquered at a speed that seemed impossible. The malpas in the crowd went wild – sparks flying from wheels, dust swirling in the air – it was like a scene from a hellish spectacle.

Let them see who rules here! he thought, glancing back at Drax.

In a fraction of a second, Kaiyo not only passed Drax but also several other rivals, disappearing at the front like a flash of fire. Drax tried to accelerate, pressed the pedal, but Inferno was unstoppable. Kaiyo felt adrenaline mix with pure euphoria – the car responded as if it were an extension of his body. Every microsecond was executed to perfection.

The advantage was sudden, powerful, and unexpected. Kaiyo felt triumph… but a glance in the rearview mirror reminded him that Drax had not said his last word.

This is only the beginning, he murmured, lightly pressing the pedal, preparing for the next challenges. On the final straight, Kaiyo overtook everyone. Drax and the rest of the field were left in dust and smoke, while Inferno surged forward, vibrating with power.

Kaiyo pressed the pedal even harder, controlling every movement, every engine sound, every burst of flame from the pipes. In an instant, the opponents were far behind.

Crossing the finish line, Inferno roared triumphantly, spitting a final fiery exhaust. Kaiyo leaned back in the seat, paws trembling, heart pounding like a hammer.

The front of the track was his. Victory was in his paws.

Drax looked at him from behind, still stunned, but with a trace of respect in his eyes. Kaiyo pressed the button lightly again, calming Inferno, his amber eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

The fire from the pipes gradually faded, leaving only the vibrating hum of the engine and the dust rising above the track.

Kaiyo stepped out of Inferno onto the track. The cool night air brushed his fur, and his eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he looked at his car. Inferno still hummed lightly, smoke curling from the pipes, as if celebrating the triumph itself.

Moments later, Tsuki and Mori-Mori ran up to him. Both were ecstatic, their tails flicking wildly.

"Congratulations, Kaiyo! You really… did it!" Tsuki shouted, almost jumping with joy.

Mori-Mori grinned widely, though his paws still trembled slightly. "I couldn't believe my own eyes! Inferno… it was a beast!"

Meanwhile, the crowd of monkeys erupted even louder. Some cheered, leapt, and wagged their tails, others screamed in excitement, and a few booed in frustration for failing to beat Kaiyo.

Kaiyo looked at Inferno, then at his friends. A smile appeared on his muzzle. He knew he hadn't just won the race, but had shown the true power of his car.

Yes… this is ours. No one can stop Inferno, he thought, as the adrenaline finally gave way to joy and triumph.

The celebration ended long ago. Inferno stood quietly in the garage, still slightly smoking, while Kaiyo, Tsuki, and Mori-Mori had gone their separate ways. Night had fully fallen – the streets of Apepolis were bathed in silvery moonlight, streetlights cast long shadows, and the silence was broken only by the faint rustle of wind and the sounds of the night city.

Kaiyo walked alone, his paws clicking against the asphalt, eyes scanning dark corners. He thought of Drax – his calm, almost arrogant expression, the ultra engines, how suddenly he had gained the upper hand.

I probably won't find him… he thought, a twinge of discouragement in his mind. But I have to try. I can't let this go…

Kaiyo quickened his pace, scanning the streets carefully. Dark alleys, deserted squares, and a light mist rising from the cobblestones looked even more mysterious in the moonlight. Every shadow seemed to move, every sound a potential sign of Drax's presence.

Even knowing he might find nothing, something in him refused to stop. His amber eyes glimmered in the darkness, and his tail swayed slowly, sensing every sound in the surroundings.

The city was calm, yet Kaiyo felt tension in the air. He knew the night could bring the unexpected.

I have to find Drax… even if it's going to be difficult… he murmured under his breath, walking toward the darker streets, ready for the next challenge – and thinking of Inferno as his ultimate ally in the hunt.
